Zea, having already procured a seat at the Head Table, appeared to be pondering something. She looked rather worried, and was picking at her fingernails.
She glanced up occasionally as the students filtered in, seemingly looking for somebody.

((Well, I hope it's OK if I post here, but as it is dinner, and presumably everyone is there . . . ))
Dinner was Arcturus' favorite meal, and the one where he ate the most. He liked breakfast, but wasn't very awake in the mornings, or very hungry. Lunch wasn't bad, but it was right in the middle of his classes, so was more to tide him over till dinner. Now, dinner, he liked dinner. He sat down, grabbed food from the six nearest dishes at the same time and started to eat ravenously.

Nicholas entered the Hall a little bit after supper had begun. He still wore some of his outdoor clothing; his woolen green surcoat unbuttoned, his brown scarf loosened, hood of his black cloak dropped, his heavy leather boots still tracked in some water as he walked towards the table, his wooden training sword dangling from his belt on his left hip.
He waved and said brief hello's as he walked by smiling students.
The tall man was hungry and wanted to eat; Nicholas had been training very hard that night and gotten that much better at his swordplay. Jubilant as he was, he knew there was much more refinement to be done, but he had it down pat now after several months of practice.
He smiled to the gathered professors as he moved onto the raised dais and hunkered down at the table, quickly beginning to pull in food and drink.

Lilianne was looking rather gloomy as she picked at the food on her plate with her fork, her chin resting on her left hand. Those who had been to class with her had gotten to witness her incredible badluck with spellcraft again, and those who hadn't might still guess why she was in such low spirits from the burnt hole in the bottom of her robes...

Kel arrived to dinner with the initial rush of students, heading for the Hufflepuff house table and sitting down. After a long day of spellwork and multiple tries to master the latest spell in Charms, she was ready for a large dinner. She filled her plate with a good dinner and started to eat, and only after had she taken the edge off her hunger did she glance around to see who she had plonked herself down next to and who else she knew who was around her. As she stuffed some more potatoes into her mouth, she wondered if she would maybe have a chat with Arcturus or Stevie. She hadn't been doing a lot with them lately. She had seen Lilianne in class, though, and looked around for her. She looked a bit dispirited, and Kel decided she would seek her out and do something with her after dinner.

Althea entered the hall, looking rather worn out. Her hair was frizzier than usual and she continuously tried to push the rebel strands out of her face. She held a squirming Edward in her arms, his face was red, contorted and wet as he screeched heavy sobbing tears.
The sound caught the attention of the majority of students and faculty as she made her way to her seat at the head table. Needless to say she was embarrassed to bring the screeching baby to dinner, but rather found that she had no choice. Vincent and Isabelle followed behind, Vincent making faces at his sister and vice versa.
There was an audible 'smack' followed by a child's cries when Althea spun around to see what was the matter. Isabelle was in full blown tears and she caught Vincent making faces at his sister while crossing his arms.
"Vincent! How dare you hit your sister!- That's it- no supper for you. You've been bad all day... You are going to your room and to bed right now." She grabbed him by the wrist with one hand as she balanced Edward on her shoulder with the other arm and began to make her way back towards the Great Hall's door from which she came.
She looked over her shoulder at Nicholas, giving him a desperate look. Please.

The piece of meat pie was a mere inch from his mouth when he caught Althea's look. The smell was so welcoming, warm and so delicious...
So close, but, duty calls.
With a sigh, he placed the food back down deciding he'd return to conquer his plate without mercy. It took him a bit of time to cross the distance, but he went as quickly as his tired legs could carry him.
Finally, he reached his family, plucking young Edward from Althea's shoulder. He cradled the crying child in his arms, gently rocking him back and forth, gently trying to coax him into calming down. He quited down, but still cried loud in bursts.
He fixed Vincent with a stern and withering glare and looked to Isabelle. "Everything alright here, love?" he asked Althea, giving her a quick glance.

"Well, Edward's in a bad mood- He can probably sense I'm a little stressed out... And Vincent keeps resorting to violence... Though it doesn't help that Isabelle taunts him..." She sighed heavily.
Vincent shrunk back at his father's glare, knowing full well he was in trouble. Isabelle clung onto Althea's pant leg, wiping her wet face with her mother's trousers. Althea bent down to assess the damage done to her daughter. Her cheek was a little red, but nothing major. She wiped her face with her sleeve.
"Could you take Vincent back to the chambers and give him a little speech on why he shouldn't hit people? Make sure the house Elves don't let him out of his room until we come back from dinner... I'll take Ed. He's probably hungry... Thank you love..."

Nicholas surrendered Ed back to Althea and kneeled to kiss his weeping daughter on the top of her head. Afterwrds, before getting back up, he looked to Vincent once again.
"Now, young man, we're going to have a little talk about violence and your behaviour. No supper for you, young man. Come along."
Nicholas stood back up and gave Althea a quick peck on the cheek. "I'll be back soon. I'll drop him off with the House Elves and have him help them with the chores."

Althea nodded and then proceeded to find her spot at the staff table. She slipped Edward into the highchair and he quited down, knowing now that there was the prospect of food in his very near future. Isabelle to stopped crying, now that the pain had gone away as well as the source of it, her brother.
Althea waved to the professors seated to far away from her to actually say hello.

Fay walked into the Great Hall, not very late, but not on time, either. She took an empty seat at the Hufflepuff table, right near Keladry, and began setting up her plate for dinner.
As she finished piling on her favorite dinner foods, she turned to Kel and smiled. "Good evening, Kel!"
{Oops, I have no idea where my mind's gone today! I knew it was dinner ut I wrote all the wrong things.}

[Curses! Here I was hoping for some bacon!]
Nicholas looked down to his young son and quirked an eyebrow as he began walking away, holding the boy's hand as he did so.
"Now Vincent, you're going to explain to me why you've been acting so roughly lately. And you're going to tell the truth now."
"But Dad-"
"No but's except for yours that's on the line, my boy. What have I been telling you? Violence is wrong. You shouldn't resort to that." he said matter of factly as he led his son out of the Great Hall.
Nicholas' stomach grumbled.
He sighed. That boy was definitely going to be washing dishes all of tomorrow.

Isabelle got to the Great Hall late, and unusually alone. She nearly bumped into Nicholas and his son as they were exiting the Hall.
"Excuse me!", she spat, shooting her ex-professor an annoyed look before she carried on into the Hall.
Her friends Sera and Mary were already sitting at their usually spot on the Ravenclaw table, talking quietly between themselves.
When they noticed her approach the table, they moved aside to make room for her, but Isabelle walked right past them, without so much of a glance their way. She walked right over to the opposite end of the table, and sat on her own, immediately helping herself to dinner, her face rather cold and emotionless.
Mary looked back to Sera, her face twisted in worry.
Sera simply sighted, shaking her head before she took her focus back to her food.

Neville wandered in a little late, looking freshly scrubbed. He made his way to the Head Table, and sat on one side of Zea.
"Are you feeling all right, Zea? You look a little pale..."
He filled his plate with a heaping portion of roast beef and potatoes, and dug in.
