Elsbeth was seated in the middle of the staff table, surveying the Great Hall and the people in it. She had been sitting there for quite some time now.
She watched the different House tables, and observed the interaction between Housemates. Her gaze soon shifted to the witches and wizards seated around her at the staff table, and realized that during her survey of the room, she had missed Sir Lannsman leaving with his son, and the arrival of his wife Dr. Althea. Also, professor Longbottom had walked in a little late, as well.
Shaking her head slightly, to regroup her thoughts, she remembered that there was still the odd Hufflepuff House head to think of, and a mystery to be resolved. She would speak to Dr. Lannsman about that later.
She picked up her fork and played with the food on her plate, no longer interested in eating it. She longed for a distraction from the strange happenings in her school, and hoped Aesir would poke fun at her or spark some witty banter. That was always fun.

"Hello, Fay! How are you tonight?" Kel asked good-naturedly, scooping up a bit more pork and dribbling gravy on her potatoes, then grabbing her fork and stowing it all away inside herself.
After it was safely inside her mouth, and not threatening to spill out, either, she looked around the room again. Nick had disappeared mysteriously, with Althea, a toddler/baby and a small girl seated next to her. Bringing her eyes back a bit closer to home, she studied the Hufflepuff table. There were a few first-years and a handful of second-years she had met, and she smiled nicely and waved at the ones that were looking her way, then continued her optical journey over to the Gryffindor table, where she recognized a few faces, including Lilianne's, but, sadly, didn't see Stevie. Her eyes then slipped to the Ravenclaw table, where Isabelle, Lilianne's older sister, was sitting slightly apart from her normal small group of friends. A small frown sidled onto Kel's face, and only got deeper as her gaze traveled, finally, onto the Slytherin table. There was that big one who had shouted at her in the courtyard a few weeks ago! She didn't recognize a lot of the other faces, though some seemed familiar from classes and repeated passes in the hall.
'More like 'bumps' than 'passes',' Kel thought slightly grumpily, then jerked herself out of her dingy thoughts and back to her happy peers, joking and laughing around her.

Donall was back to his tall dark and broody ways, ever since had returned from his brief 'vacation' home. He talked to no one, save for those who got in his way, and then it couldn't be considered talking as much as it could be considered barking orders at frightened students.
He sat alone at the far end of the Slytherin table, though his end was closest to the staff table. This gave him a good view of the staff if he so chose to pay attention to anything other than his barely touched plate of dinner. He didn't care if the staff watched him, he wouldn't show them anything they wished to see.
Unfortunately, Don had closed up since his return, and become nasty and rude to all, though was as quiet and withdrawn as ever when he wasn't. His eyes, however, could give him away in a heartbeat, but he never let anyone make eye contact with him long enough to read the hidden emotions in their depths.
He stared silently into his plate, wishing dinner would end soon.

Almost...there...Oh god, just stay conscious...a little longer...Just get away...from it...
His right arm hung limp as he flew quickly enough down the hallway. It came out of nowhere. He could feel the steady drip from his hand, as something warm trickled onto the stone floor. He was lightheaded, his heart pounding in his throat.
He heard something skittering down the hall behind him and his heart skipped a beat.
No, no, get away!
He urged his broom quicker so he could get away, blindly turning around the next corner. There was someone leaving the Great Hall; Nicholas and his young boy.
"Get back!!!" he yelled. More blood blinded him as he tried to blink it away, trying to clear his vision.

The hairs on the back of Nick's neck bolted upright as he saw Aesir fly down the Hall, bleeding profusely. Fear gripped his heart for a moment until Nicholas quickly looked down to his pale son.
"Vincent, run to mommy. Now!" he said sternly, turning his son towards the Great Hall. "Go!"
The young boy bolted away when Nicholas turned to face the approaching professor.

Blood.
It wanted more. It ran down the halls, chasing after the flying professor, eager to finish the job. It gave a plaintive cry of pain, it's insides wracked with agony. It's twisted body continued to give chase and it ran around the corner.
Green eyes glowed maliciously as it spotted the flying human. It bared its twisted fangs and gave a short roar as it leaped into the air towards the man in the air. Razor sharp talons reached for the man as the black and twisted creature tried to grab its prey.
It wanted something before the others arrived.

Nicholas saw the creature turn around the corner. It's black body was like a predatorial cat, leaping towards the helpless scotsmen.
In a blur of motion, Nicholas ran forward, drawing both his wooden sword and wand. Without a word, he flicked his wand at the creature, the air around it shimmering for a second before it was thrown into the ground as though it was hit by a two tonne safe.
"Go Aesir! I'll hold it off!" he yelled as he stood his ground. Quickly, Nicholas maintained his hold of the spell on the creature, grinding his teeth as he did so.

The beast gave a plaintive cry of pain as it was slammed into the ground. The wind was knocked from it's lungs as it lay there helpless. It futilely tried to stand, but the air around it was as heavy as stone.
Second later, two more slowly stalked around the corner of the hallway, slobbering, green eyes dancing with murderous intent. Strange muscular appendages draped their backs and twitched and lashed out. They roared aloud, like a shrieking lion.
The noise could be heard well into the Great Hall as the young Lannsman boy ran screaming into the Hall. "Mommy! Mommy! There's a monster!"
Soon enough, the flying professor flew quickly into the Hall, his right arm dripping with blood and hanging limp. A nasty gash across his forehead blurred some of his vision. His broom lost altitude quickly as he came crashing down onto the Gryffindor table, unconscious, as he skidded ten feet before stopping.

Althea dropped the spoon of mashed peas she was feeding Edward and let it clatter to the ground as she saw her son run towards her screaming something about a monster. She abruptly stood up, as did most in the great Hall when Asier came crashing down into the Gryffindor table. Vincent tightly wrapped his arms around her legs as he dashed underneath the staff table.
Vincent looked up to him mother and wailed "It's coming here."
She hoisted Vincent up to his feet and looked him in the eyes, "Vincent, you must take your sister and go run through the kitchens and get as far away as you can, Mommy or daddy will find you later- Go!"
She turn frantically to Shyinad and forked over Edward. "Please take him and get out of here-"
[Yeah I know Shyinad isn't technically playing anymore, but for simplicity's sake, he's an NPC now.]
She drew her wand and rushed to Asier, pushing the nearby students as she went. When she finally reached him she turned him over and began giving him first aid.
"Asier? Can you hear me?- Asier!"
He had deep gashes across his forehead and his arm, like something tried to rip the flesh right of his bones. They bleed profusely. She grabbed a bunch of near by napkins and tried to stop the bleeding. She knelt over him, her back to the Great Hall's doors.

Lilianne screamed as Aesir came crashing down on her table, skidding across it and knocking her food all over her. She stood up but remained simply frozen in place, staring at the professor, both hands over her mouth, trying to say something but her voice lost...

As the Lannsman's son ran into the room screaming about a monster, Elsbeth's gaze lifted from her plate, and when Aesir's unconscious body floated in and crashed on the Gryffinfdor table, she jumped out of her seat.
She shouted orders at the students, to gather behind the staff table, and for the staff witches and wizards to form a line in front of them. As the students and staff heeded her words, she yelled "Engorgio" and "Duro," pointing her wand at the table, and with another spell, turned the table over so it was a shield protecting the students. She directed a couple of professors to stay with the students, and the rest {all the RPing ones} were to stay with her on the outside to fight, if need be.
Running over toward Althea, she inquired of Aesir's health. "Will he be alright...?" she said, in barely a whisper.
She shifted her gaze to the door, anticipating the monster, or monsters on their way.

She briefly looked up at the headmistress, "I don't know- not yet..." and then back to Asier, "Come on Asier- Say something!"

Kel, as shocked as everyone else when the bleeding Aesir careened into the Great Hall and crashed onto the long Gryffindor House table, ran with all the other students behind the staff table. Kel found herself jostled up quite close to the huge table/shield, and managed to stand up straight. There were a few third-year girls behind where she was, with her face to the wood of the table, and two of them were sobbing.
Kel was scared out of her wits, but she turned around and grabbed the girl who wasn't crying, a large blond-haired, blue-eyed Dutch, and told her "Grab one of your friends and put her up against the table! I'll get the other one!" Without waiting for a reply from the shell-shocked older girl, she grabbed one of the others who was crying silent tears, which ran down her face, which was frozen into a horrified O. She tried to talk to the older girl, but she didn't seem to hear her, so Kel dragged her around and pushed her locked-up body against the table, with her back to the awful sounds coming from beyond the large doors into the Great Hall.

AEsir groaned in pain for a second, his body slowly moving as to push himself up but failing miserably. He didn't have the strength to even push himself up, instead, his body flopped onto the table again. Aesir managed to crack open one eye, the other seemed to be swelling shut from the rough landing.
He tried to speak, but only mumbled incoherently.

Zea leapt on top of the wall now formed by the Head Table, and perched there like a gargoyle, whipping her wand out of her sleeve.
"We should get him to the hospital wing ASAP," she said, looking down at Aesir. "I'm going out there."
