Isabelle jumped up like most of the hall when Aesir crashed, though from her distance she could not see his injuries, and first though it was some dumb, stupid joke on the teacher's behalf.
She was just about to call him out, scoffing, when she heard an howl.
Her face paled as she turned around to see the two creatures running into the hall. Her state of disbelief only lasted for a milisecond as everything was wiped from her mind but for the only one thing that mattered.
A loud hum filling her ears and deafening her to everything that was happenning around her, Isabelle ran towards the Gryffindor table, trying to swerve around the students running in the opposite direction in their panic.
Someone bumped into her hard, and she fell to her knees, nearly getting trampled. She picked herself up quickly, and looked around, her horror growing tenfold.
One of the creatures was heading straight for Lilianne.
And Isabelle recognised the pale, frozen expression on her striken sister for what it was.
She ran through the crowd more aggressively, trying to beat the monster to her sister.
Too slow too slow too slow...
She wouldn't make it in time. She whiped her wand out of her sleeve as she ran as fast as she could, screaming:
"LILIANNE! STUPEFY! STUPEFY!"
Her spells flew harmlessly over the creature. She wouldn't make it in time.
She saw Arcturus step forward bravely and attack the creature, diverting it's attention, allowing her to catch on...
Isabelle ran past the creature, barely noticing how close she got to it, as her focus was on her sister alone. She finally got to Lilianne, and wrapped her arms around her, to shield her and to push her ahead towards the staff table.
As they were halfway to cover, Isabelle turned her head around to yell at Arcturus before she went on:
"MacDougal! I got her! Get away!"
A bit of blood was dripping onto Lilianne's head, but Isabelle didn't even notice.

Isabelle didn't make it to cover.
Both tentacles lashed out from the beasts shoulders, ripping through Isabelle's robes. The barbed ends of the vicious appendages cruelly cut into flesh and muscle, yanking her off her feet and tossing both her and her sister to the floor.
Pain burned through Isabelle's back from the terrible wounds, and slowly, it stalked it's way to her.
The other creature snarled and lashed out at panicked students, some spells occasionally ricocheting from its black hide. After wounding several students, it barreled down between the tables, flailing and screeching...
Headed towards a frightened Slytherin first year before Donall.

Donall had not followed most of the students behind the overturned staff table, but had stood his ground in front of his House table. He neither ran nor screamed, and didn't move to get his Housemates to safety, either.
However, now one of the creatures made its way over to the Slytherin table, and seemed set on attacking a small first year student inches away from him. "Oh bugger" he said, under his breath. "I suppose I have to do something."
He whipped out his wand and roughly pulled the young student behind him without a word. Raising his wand level with the creature, Don cried out a stunning spell, and then ran with the frightened boy, depositing him behind the Staff table with the rest of the students. The child would hopefully continue on with the staff and students who would leave through the Kitchen exit.
Don slithered back around the overturned table to watch the action. He wondered what was going on with Sir Lannsman. He hadn't seen him enter the Hall, and thought maybe he got caught by the monsters before their grand entrance.

Lilianne was so petrified by her fear, her eyes fixed on the beast approaching her, that she didn't even notice the Headmistress calling for the students to head for cover, nor Arcturus trying to protect her. She barely understood what was happenning to her as someone wrapped herself around her and pushed her forward, until she felt something hot run over her eye.
Finally blinking, finally tearing her eyes from the creature, she looked up and saw her sister's face, bleeding from a cut across her cheek.
Isabelle face had scrapped againts the beast's barbed tentacle as she ran past it, without her even feeling it in her fright for Lilianne's life.
Understanding what her sister was facing for her sake, Lilianne managed to will her legs to move ahead and let herself be guided towards safety.
Then she heard a cracking sound, and felt her sister's body jerk, before they were violently thrown to the ground, Isabelle still covering her with her body.
They slid some distance across the floor, Lilianne's face burning as it was pressed against it under Isabelle's weight.
Still panicked, but at least able to move, Lilianne wiggled out from under Isabelle and got up on her knees, grabbing her sister's arm, and gasping in horror at the sight of her wounds.
Isabelle had taken the full blow of the attack, shielding Lilianne with her own body.
"I... Isa... are you okay? Can you -"
Lilianne lost her voice again as she saw the creature stalking towards them.

Arcturus gritted his teeth as the monster ignored him and went for the helpless girl. Then Isabelle Wesker, who he knew from Ancient Runes, came running past the monster to grab the first year. Funny, Isabelle the perpetually bad-tempered coming to save a random first year. Clearly she wasn't that bad. Well, she was in Ravenclaw, so she couldn't be totally mean. Unfortunately, the monster didn't care about any of this. Arcturus stared in horror as it's tentacles ripped savagely into Isabelle. It kept stalking the girls. Arcturus yelled and sprinted forward, trying desperately to distract the terrible beast.
"Stupefy! Stupefy!! STUPEFY!!!"
All his spells hit the monster, but none had any effect.
Well, I guess I'll have to try something different . . . very different.
Being a third year, he didn't know any other real fighting spells, so he'd just have to make do with what he did know.
"Tarantallegra!"
The beast's legs started jerking wildly out of it's control.
"Rictusempra!"
Arcturus was sort of losing his head, and wasn't dead sure what a Tickling Charm would do against a creature like that, but he had to try something. He was still running forward, and getting very close to the beast now.
"Wingardium Leviosa!"
That spell was insufficient to lift the entire creature off the ground, but it did pull it's front section up a bit, hopefully confusing it.
Finally, standing only a few feet from the terrible beast, Arcturus yelled the only damaging spell he could think of, and possibly his and the two helpless girls only hope, at the beast, at the sky, at anyone who would listen:
"INCENDIO!!"

Stevie was forced to watch from the sidelines. There was nothing he could do, he knew that. Only the staff could do anything. But now, one of his friends were hurt.
And it was all his fault. Lilianne's sister might die.
And it was all his fault. Stevie placed the blame solely on himself for not telling anyone. Instead, he masked it with cheery emotions and the muse of being awake. Night after night, he had lay in bed, wondering to himself. 'Will anything ever come of this?' Obviously, it had. Stevie could only watch in stunned silence as the beast lumbered over toward Lilianne, a look of silent disbelief painted onto Stevie's face. But most of all, he was angry.
He was angry that all of this came to be. There were attacks, so why didn't this place learn from its mistakes? Why couldn't it get a guard patrol squad or something? Even one person patrolling would help it so much more... But the fact remained that a good handful of students here were not able to defend themselves properly, Stevie being one of them.
He started to doubt Hogwarts. He started to doubt the capabilities of magic. Sure, these were probably some of the most well-versed people in their craft, being teachers, but that wasn't enough to make these students safe. Sure, they came up with a quick plan. It still didn't help Isabelle.
Breaking his statuesque form, Stevie started to inch along, not making noticeable footsteps. He was torn. He could throw something at the creature, taking it away from Lilianne. Then, he would have the wrath of an angry... Thing on him. And he has a good chance of be killed. But, he could not do anything, and then Lilianne and her sister might be killed...
Stevie decided not to. Behind him were a group of students, and throwing something might disrupt this whole plan. This whole bit was unbearable to watch, so he turned and walked back where he was, awaiting any instruction. The staff will take care of this... Right?

Post by Dr. Althea Lannsman on Feb 4, 2008 19:23:43 GMT -5
Althea watched as several students were thrashed by the beast, arguably the grievous of the injuries from what she could tell were the Wesker sisters. Althea had a pretty good idea what the nature of their injuries were, judging by what had been done to Asier and if she guessed correctly, they were probably loosing a lot of blood and fast-
Thankfully, it lost interest in them momentarily, turning it's attention to the Syltherin which gave her an opportunity to make a move. She cast Ferula one more time, giving her enough bandages to tie off Asier's shoulder.
"Neville, go without me, I have to help the students- he's stable for now... He's a tough cookie- He'll live...And Send an Owl ASAP to St- Mungos... I need back-up!" Althea, with her wand ready, bounded towards Isabelle and Lianne.
Althea helped carry Isabelle to the nearest overturned table. It had been splintered in half by the slashing beasts. It wasn't the safest place, but it was the closest shelter she could find it didn't offer enough cover for all three of them. Althea tried to provide cover for them while trying to stop Isabelle's bleeding. She tried to get Isabelle's attention.
"Hey, honey, look at me, dear... Can you hear me?"

[ooc: Mmm, it's the second creature that's going after Donall, Arcturus is the one trying to attract the one that's on me...]
Isabelle though she might have blacked out for a second. Her ears were ringing, her whole body was quivering as she felt burning, stinging pain all over her back. The last thing she remembered was grabbing Lilianne and pushing her towards the staff table, and then there she was, sprawled on the floor, her sister kneeling before her.
...what happenned... why was I pushing... oh.
Remembering what she was protecting Lilianne from, Isabelle gritted her teeth and forced herself up on all fours, trembling. She raised her head and looked at the creature that was stalking towards them.
"...Can't... let you... hurt..." she coughed weakly, trying to clear her mind and remember the right incantation to protect them...
Only to notice her hands were empty. Her wand was nowhere to be seen.
She turned to her sister and gasped. "Go... Go!" If only Lilianne would run away, she would have a chance...
She saw Arcturus attacking the beast again. Stupid. You brave, stupid kid. Just run...
Isabelle kept staring at Arcturus as she felt herself being dragged by two pairs of hands, until an overturned table blocked her view of the scene.
She turned her eyes to see the school nurse as she was calling out to her. Her ears were still ringing and she couldn't quite make out what she was saying.
"Take her... away..."

Lilianne let out a small breath of relief when Isabelle stirred again, but fright took over her again as she saw how badly injured she looked.
Isabelle was wandless. She was telling her to go. She wanted to run, all common sense would tell her to run, to save herself.
But of course she wouldn't.
Her eyes brimming with tears, Lilianne reached inside her robes for her wand, her hand shaking so much she could barely hold it as she looked at the monster stalking towards them, her vision getting blurry...
Then the monster looked away. Someone was casting spells at it. Suddenly the school nurse was with them, and she was trying to drag Isabelle away. Drawing in a long gasp of breath, Lilianne did her best to help the doctor.
She remained clinging to her sister as Dr. Lannsman checked on her.

Donall's quarry was momentarily stunned as the spell connected with it. For a few moments, it shook its head, trying to focus once again. It then heard the cry of pain from the other similar creature, as fire singed flesh and fur.
The stink was soon overwhelming.
In a frenzy, the beast slashed and snarled, running haphazardly and knocking over benches and splintering wood with its maddened strikes. It rolled on the ground several moments, trying to put out the flames on it's back and soon enough succeeding. Warily, it stood back up, and growling with unbound rage towards the young man that had caused it so much agony. It let out a roared as it ran to him.
The other beast quickly covered the ground between it's wounded ally, aiming instead for the human that was sheltering the younger one. She wasn't paying attention.
A fatal mistake.
It leapt through the air, claws reaching out as it tackled Doctor Lannsman from behind. It's jaws clamped tightly onto her shoulder, rear claws ripping into her back as it knocked her onto the ground.

"Charge!!!"
The sound of armour came crashing into the Great Hall as four of the suits of medieval armour were enchanted to aid the students. Weapons raised, the stormed towards the creatures that had invaded their castle, ready to perform their ancient duty and protect the lives within.
Nicholas' heart leapt into his throat as he saw one of the creatures knock Althea down onto her back, violently assaulting her.
No! Please God, not her! Not her!
With wild abandon, he came dashing into the room, adrenaline fueling his steps, his muscular legs pushing harder with fear, he quickly cast propello upon himself, quickly gripping the spear he'd commandeered from one of the suits of armour and jumped into the air.
He flew upwards with incredible speed, aiming himself to ram into the creature that was assaulting his beloved wife. He'd miscalculated his jump...he was too high...he'd jump right over it...unless...
His wand pressed up against the spear, he pointed it towards the creature, yelling. "Levicorpus!"
The creature was promptly yanked off of its feet and right into his oncoming collision course. He screamed in abject fury at the creature that had intended to kill Althea. The spear pierced flesh and scratched against bone, puncturing the other side of it completely. Nicholas and the beast crashed together, the creature plucked out of the air from the levicorpus spell by the sheer force and weight of Nicholas' body.
Both tumbled from the air across the floor, bouncing harshly a few times. There was a distinct 'snap!' when the shaft of the spear broke, leaving the rest lodged inside the unwitting beast. Nicholas struggled for only a few seconds before standing up somewhat, obviously disoriented, a cut above his brow bleeding.
He saw Althea's body on the ground and quickly, if not wobbily, made his way towards her.

Lilianne screamed again as Dr Lannsman was torn away from them, the beast savagely ripping into her.
Still grasping her wand with a shaking hand, she tried to think of something to do to help the doctor, but she couldn't think straight.
She joined hands with her sister, making Isabelle hold her wand together with her, hoping her smart sister could do something to save the doctor.
But Isabelle was weezing, she looked as if she could barely hold her eyes open anymore.
Lilianne didn't know what else she could do...
Then, as if straight out from an adventure book, Nicholas lept into her sight, defeating the beast with a brilliant display of both magical and physical might.
She blinked a few times, as though to make sure she wasn't delusionnal.
Nicholas was now heading towards his wife.
Oh... please... Don't let this story have a sad ending...

Neville, upon seeing Isabelle fall and Althea run after her, turned his full attention to Aesir and the children.
"Run for the doors!" he yelled, over the noise of the crowd. He snagged a seventh-year student, and asked her to help him move Aesir. "Keep an eye out, if they follow us, it won't be good!"
He began leading the way, quickly, toward the doors to the kitchen hallway, and then toward the hospital wing. A few students, those who had been trapped behind the table or had been taken down by the creatures, remained behind.
I'll get him to the hospital wing and get some backup from St. Mungo's... I can leave the seventh years to watch him and come back to help...
I can't shake the feeling I'm making a mistake...

She was pushed forward with such force it didn't initially occur to her what had just happened. The searing sharp pain jolted through her body, only then it dawn on her. She thought about her wand, maybe she could do something... Force the beast off of her- but somehow it had gotten out of her hands... Yes that it, she remembered putting it down next to Isabelle when she tried to stop her from bleeding... But that was too far away now...
She hit the granite floor hard, her head making contact with the cold stone followed by the rest of her body. She thought she heard something rip and tear...
must be my sweater... I can mend it later... I hope the children are ok... I'm so tiered...
She touched her forehead and looked down at her hand. Her hands were covered in blood... But who's was it? She couldn't be sure. She checked again, this time more of it coated her hands...
no..it's..me...
She thought she was moving, but her surroundings stood still as she lay on the floor of the Great Hall.

Zea sprinted after the creature that had descended on Isabelle.
She stopped in her tracks, watching Althea fall to the floor, making a loud sound on the cold stone.
She swore. Loudly.
...And charged the creature, her wand in her right hand, cracking out her bullwhip with her left, shouting at it as she ran.
She was out for permanent damage this time.
