Neoma very rarely cried, which seemed odd because she appeared to be one whom would be sensitive even to slightest of paper cuts. In reality, Neoma was very strong willed and fiercely loyal. She could be upset without shedding a tear, and become flustered without blushing. The short of it was; she'd sooner get angry than cry, not by choice, it was just how she was. There were always exceptions, however, and as she entered her second hour of aimless wandering she could feel the sobs coming.
She walked around, with her father by her side, but he was just lost as her. They walked back and forth between the ninth and tenth platform until they both got headaches and were ridiculed non stop by passersby. Neoma had worked up so much excitement about finally going to Hogwarts, and now it seemed like she may not even get to go. She looked about five years younger than she was, as stayed glued to her father, hand cupped in his own.
Would they ever find their way? Neoma wondered, and she and her father carried all her luggage and supplies on a trolley.

Alora was one of those Hogwarts students who always turned up at the station by herself. Her mother would be too busy doing something utterly stupid, but she just couldn't be bothered to take her dearest daughter to platform 9 & 3/4. Then again, she could ask her father, but she knew the answer to that one without even thinking the word Hogwarts. He would give her the same reason he had said 4 years ago, and it was too rude to repeat.
Wondering down towards the pillar between platforms 9 and 10, Alora dragged her trunk behind her like she did every year, drawing attention to herself as usual. Just like previous years she had been asked many times where her parents were and if she needed any help, yet she continued pretending she had never heard them.
Adjusting her bag, that layed uncomfortably on her shoulder, she finally got to the pillar. Standing infront of it, she smiled slightly before turning round slowly to find a father and his daughter pacing back and forth between the platforms. Thinking before talking for about the first time in her life, she walked- well more like shuffled- up to them and muttered "Urm, are you looking for platform nine and three-quarters?".
Please say they aren't muggles? she thought after asking.

Neoma whisked around from clutching her father's arm to look at the older girl who had spoken. She was quite lovely, and had a very emphatic smile, but that was not what reassured Neoma the most.
"Y-yes!" She couldn't help but jump a bit, as she looked up at the much taller girl. Neoma thought that she must be a student, and Neoma couldn't stop smiling like a fool. Once again, the Wizarding world had shown her that it, and it's people, were nothing to be feared.

Judging by the girls slight jump, Alora thought that maybe she had scared her. "Oh sorry to frighten you, but I saw you pacing around and thought maybe I could help?... That is if you want it" During the pause, she had to think of what she was saying, she didn't want to seem rude, but maybe it sounded that way. Oh Merlin's Beard what have I done she thought behind the generous smile she was sure she was giving.

"We'd appreciate any help you can give."
Neoma looked up at her father, who was looking at Alora with an expression of some relief. It made Neoma giggle that her hero of a father was just as lost as she.
She then looked back at Alora, and gathered her own things, ready to run at the sound of a gunshot. Even her smile seemed to reflect her eagerness.
"I'd be so grateful if you would show me the way." She had temporarily forgotten how much older the student appeared, and was so glad that she had made her first real friend. Hopefully that is...

Feeling alot more relaxed, that her father gave appoval to her help, Alora walked closer towards the pillar, indicating for her to follow. "Firstly, Hi. I'm Alora. Secondly. Okay, right, you see this pillar, right here, between platform nine and ten. Well, it sounds strange, but thats what your aiming for." Quickly glancing at her watch, she realised they didn't have much time left. "Well, we are gonna have to get going really quickly. So, if you wheel your trolley back a bit, and then just sprint towards the line straight down the middle of the pillar. DO NOT. I repeat. DO NOT be scared of crashing, because trust me you won't. With Seven years of doing this, I think I know."
Stepping back a bit, Alora gestured for the gestured for Neoma to go first, hopefully her advice had been successful.

Her eyes widened slightly, and her brows furrowed. Was she nuts?! Why don't we just jump over a cliff instead?
That's what Neoma was thinking, but it wasn't what she believed. Even though her expression was one of utter confusion, her heart told her that Alora was very serious. She looked up to her father, who looked down at her and shrugged his shoulders and frowned goofily.
This made Neoma giggle, and she reached up, and her father knelt down, and gave him a hug.
"Goodbye Da." She said softly.
"Take care pumpkin. He pulled away slightly, placing the bags he was holding onto her trolley. "We will write always." he poked her nose playfully with his index finger.
"Me too!" Neoma said proudly. She then gathered her things, and backed her trolley up to where Alora had indicated.
She took a deep breath, looking at the pillar she had to face. She felt like it was mocking her, calling her a fool. She suddenly went into an all out sprint, eyes wide open facing her obstacle.
And yet it never came... she had vanished into thin air it seemed.

"Goodbye Sir" Alora nodded to Neoma's father and followed her quickly. Sprinting egarly at the pillar, she closed her eyes prayed that the barrier hadn't closed.
Arriving onto the platform, she found herself standing next to Neoma and she smiled down at her. "Right. Hogwarts express will leave any minute now, so we had better hurry". She pushed her own trolley over to the door to one of the carriages and stepped inside, her trunk not so far behind her. Leaning her head back out of the door she shouted "Come on then".

Neoma blinked her eyes open, and her breathing came easier to her as she realized she was in one piece. Looking to her right, she saw the ruby red Hogwarts Express, steam billowing from it's top.
She could hardly contain her excitement, she moved quickly when she was summoned by Alora. She did not want to be left behind. She had made her decision to embrace the Wizarding world, and her new life, and she couldn't wait to get started.
"I'm here already." She laughed, as she clamored onto the Express, some of the staff taking her heavier things to store them in the caboose. She thanked them, and rushed into the compartment with Alora, sitting on the opposite end.
Outside the window, parents were waving to their children, but there were no tears. There was no fear in any one's eyes, there was only joy. Neoma was beside herself, finally looking at her cabin-mate.
"This is thrilling!" she exclaimed giddily.

Alora smiled as she watched the train pull away from the station. "Wasn't that bad after all was it. So, do you know what house you would like to be in?" she asked watched Neoma's expression.
She could remember her first train journey clearly. To get onto the platform she gazed as people jumped through the pillar and couldn't wait to try it herself. After that, every year the jump seemed more and more boring. I spose its because I have done it so many times she rememebred herself thinking.

Neoma took some time to calm down, she began to get fidgety. Nervousness and fear, still battling her excitement and thrill. At first, she did not hear the question posed to her, and she had asked one of her own.
"Do you know how long the trip is?"
With a smile that showed off each of her teeth, she looked at Alora expectantly. She was met with an inquisitive look, and Neoma realize she had completely missed the question. For two reasons primarily. One, she was too excited to hear, and two;
"I'm not at all sure what you mean. What house I'll be in?"

Alora looked a bit shocked with her two questions. "You don't know about Hogwarts houses? And nope, but time usually goes pretty quickly after the food trolley has come past"
Still a bit taken back by the thought that a witch didn't know about Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Slytherin or Hufflepuff, Alora looked back out of the window watching as tree after tree passed the window.

She couldn't help but feel slightly wounded by the lady's response. Neoma felt stupid, in that she clearly had no idea what she meant, but was apparently expected to. She stared down and pushed her cuticles back as a habit. She then stared up and looked to Alora, hopping to communicate without words, how desperately she wanted to know what she meant by "Houses."

"Its okay, its quite a daunting prospect. I have been there. Growing up in the muggle world doesn't really help." The look on Neoma's face kind of said it all. It was just like how Alora felt, with barely any contact with the wizarding world, you never heard about things that happened in Hogwarts.
"RightAlora began," At Hogwarts, there are four houses which you get sorted into at the first big feast. Slytherin, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. Slytherin, I'm not going to even start about them. Deary me basically they thrive on people getting hurt and getting their way. Gryffindor, well thats the house which the famous Harry Potter was in. To get sorted into this house you have to be brave and daring. Then there is Hufflepuff they are loyal and patient. Finally there is Ravenclaw which is the house I'm in. Ravenclaw's are patient and thrive on learning. So they are the houses. Have any idea yet? Throughout Alora's little speech she looked straight at Neoma, however after she looked away most quickly.

A shadow briefly flashes into the compartment as something outside blots out the sun momentarily. Hovering a goodly distance above the speeding ground is a man with bright red hair, WWII aviator goggles strapped on his face with his black cloak flapping in the wind, his racing broom spinning and dodging trees and telephone poles.
His maniacal laughter can be heard through the window as he seems to be having one heck of a time.
