This thread will be used to submit suggestions for new spells to be added to the current Spell List. If you've ever had a neat idea for a spell that you figure MUST exist in the Harry Potter Universe, submit your ideas here. All submitters must include the following: Spell Name: Incantation: (Not required, as we the mods can help with that) Description: Suggested Year Requirement: (This is in place so that we don't have first years running around casting Death Curses. Your suggestion will be taken into account, but is ultimately the decision of the moderators as to the minimum age/year/level requirement) Please be patient with us, we will get to your fabulous ideas soon enough. Thanks! Note: Please make sure that your spell doesn't already exist. First to Third Year Spells.and Fourth to 'Adult' Year Spells.A good way to search for a spell you'd like to cast, is to hit Ctrl+F on your keyboard, and search for keywords that can be found in the Spells' Description.

Spell Name: Cooling Charm Incantation: Gelutia Description: A very simply charm to make something cooler, or cool down. (ie: a body part or glass of water) Not an offensive spell, in other words you can't make an opponent's arm freeze and fall off with this spell. Suggested Year Requirement: First

Spell Name: Doppelganger Hex Incantation: [Alacritas Pondero] Description: This is a very difficult spell to cast, and it is in fact quite a horrible hex. The spell is cast on a mirror bearing the reflection of another witch or wizard. The result is that the reflection steps through the mirror, and is fully functional, sentient being. The Doppelganger has all the skills as the 'original' the only difference being that the doppelganger is usually a much more vicious version. Doppelganger's who are created in this fashion have almost no moral center, and are driven by an inherent need to be mean.
There are only a handful of ways to destroy a Doppelganger. One of which is for the witch or wizard who owns the reflection to defeat them in a duel, which is no easy task. Another is to destroy, magically or otherwise, the reflective surface from which the Doppelganger was made. Note that it is possible to make more than one Doppelganger of the same person.

Spell Name: Sleep with one eye open Incantation: [Somnus oculus patefacio] Description: Sleep with one eye open, but have all effects of sleeping yet being ready for anything to come at any moment. Good for cases of paranoia. You don't manually blink, so your eye stays healthy while you sleep, yet make you at least somewhat aware of your surroundings. Suggested Year Requirement: 1
(I just thought that being able to sleep with one eye open may be a useful spell if death eaters or some other menace shows up. And it would be awesome >>)

Spell Name: Defenestrating Sphere
Incantation: Defenestratus
Description: A greyish orb roughly 2 feet in diameter of pure roiling wind bursts from the wand tip. If soars down in a straight line, causing any wizard or object caught in its path to be thrown into the air with a very strong force (almost like being caught in a small tornado). For those lucky enough to hold onto their wands, they either sail sideways or upwards, whether there is anything in the way or not.

Spell Name: Body bind curse (altered)
Incantation: Petrificus laqueus
Description: When the target wizard is struck by this spell, they are quickly suspended upside down like being affected by a Levicorpus spell, but are also petrified like in the Body binding spell. They are suspended in the air by their ankles and petrified.
Suggested Year Requirement: Sixth year or seventh
Spell Name: Wind Shield
Incantation: Aer Contego
Description: A shield charm wrought of pure wind hovers nearby, only defended the caster from physical attacks. When something touches the wind shield, it deflects deflects it in a random direction.
Suggested Year Requirement: Adult
Spell Name: Air Blast
Incantation: Ventus Flatus
Description: A powerful burst of air blasts back most objects, and occasionally people, away. Primarily used to attempt disarming a group of wizards from wands.
Suggested Year Requirement: Adult
Spell Name: Tripping hex
Incantation: Trinus
Description: This minor spell causes the person hit to trip the next time they step forward. Can be deflected by most Shield charms.
Suggested Year Requirement: Third year
Spell Name: Backfiring curse
Incantation: Ultionis
Description: When cast on another wizard, the next spell they will cast will shoot from the back of their wand and hit themselves.

Spell Name: Shared Dream Spell
Incantation: Oneiromus
Description: This is an amazing spell, but with it's fair dose of limitations. As the name suggests, this spell allows for the caster to step into the dream of the one s/he casts it upon. The spell is is a form of mind-magic, as well as a sub-category of divination, and so can be quite difficult to accomplish. The spell can often be used to help a witch or wizard medically, especially if said witch or wizard has unresolved issues that affects them psychologically. This spell can help because dreams often indicate what the problem is, the problem being they are difficult to remember by the dreamer.
The spell can also be used as some playful prank. However, the spell cannot be used on day dreamers. REM sleep of the dreamer must be obtained for the spell to have any hope of working. When it does, it's as if the caster has just waltzed right into the thoughts of another. The dreamer, cannot see or sense the caster or the spell, for they exist in the dream only as an observer in the background.
Suggested Year Requirement: 7th

Spell Name: Wake Incantation: [excito] Description: Wakes someone up when they're sleeping either due to a spell or naturally. Year Requirement: 2nd
(Feel free to reject these, I just made them up on a whim to kind of help the dream walking spell, and in case people need help with something [Say, an adult waking another adult or a prefect or someone when something's invading Hogwarts].)

Name: Hell on Earth Incantation: Solve Lora Infernis Description: The spell is a modification of the boggart ability to show a person his or her worst fear. What this does is it creates in the mind of the target his or her worst nightmare. The subject is then locked inside his mind with his fear. It creates in the target a state paralysis, and a blank expression on his face. While in this state the subject cannot respond or even move; they are trapped inside their own mind. The spell continues until the caster release the subject or the counter spell (Peace of mind) is cast. Caster Level: Adult (This is a spell Shellivia created after observing and examining Boggarts for many years).
Name: Peace of Mind Incanation: Pacis exsisto vobis Description: A spell that creates in the mind a sense of pure calm and serenity. It can cure anxiety, panic attacks, nightmares, anger and other emotional distress. It works on people and animals. Level: Adult (This is a high level calming spell: i.e. If it were used on someone about to be attacked and eaten by a dragon that person would only feel an immense sense of peace and not be in anyway afraid)
Name: Food and water purification Incantation: Tersus quod videlicet Description: Removes impurities and bacteria from food and water. Also stops food from rotting (or going stale) for a time period of 24 hours. To keep food fresh over it it must be recast after the day is over. Level: Year 5.
Name: Poison finder Incantation: Virus reperio Description: When cast on a subject it causes the area infected or poisoned to glow with a faint red light if infection or green light if poison. The area that is brighter is the more affected area. Level: Year 4
Name: Posion Catcher Incantation: Virus reprehendo Description: When a small incision or hole is made to the area that contains the poison or infection it draws the poison out and forms it into a stream of liquid coming out of the subject and goes in the direction where the wand is pointing ( i.e. a sink or a jar). In the case of a snake or venomous creature this would extract the poison from the creature through the stinger/ fangs, but it does it in a slow process and would not be useful as an offensive spell if it suddenly decided to attack (example: the poison will come out in a small stream like a faucet barely turned on, not like a fire hose). Level: Year 4
Name: Faerie Fire Incantation: Puniceus Maiestas Description: Outlines target in an illusion of bright purple flames which do not actually burn. Useful for finding people who are invisible or hiding in the dark. Caster must have a general idea of where the target is (i.e. if they think someone with in 20 feet the spell might miss but if they know someone is within 20 feet on in front of them it should would work) making it a bit harder to cast since it is dependant on the caster’s awareness. Level: Year 5
Name: Entanglement Incantation: Intorqueo sero Description: Causes long vines to shoot out of the casters wand in a rather snake like fashion and entangle the target. The vines can reach up to 120 feet and can grab a person, a branch or an object. Variations of the spell exist including Intorqueo poena sero which causes the vines to grow sharp thorns. Level: Year 6 or 7 (not sure)
Name: Careful Hunter Incanattion: Silens nidor Description: Causes the caster’s or targets smell or scent to be hidden for a short duration of time. Level: Year 3
Name: Speak with all Incanatation: Refero sanus Description: This spell allows for the caster to be able to replicate and understand the sounds of other beings. While for mermish it will allow the speaker to understand and speak mermish, unless the creature speaks a formal language the communication would be rather limited unless the creature is extremely intelligent (i.e. the caster may be able to have a conversation with a unicorn but would only get basic ‘hungry’, ‘scared’, ‘ANGRY’ from an insect.) Level: 6 or 7 (again not sure)
Name: Fog cloud Incantation: Firmus caliga Description: Creates a large cloud of fog made from water to come out of the caster’s wand. It can be dispersed by wind or a bright sunny day. Level: Year 2
Name: Gust of wind Incantation: Ventus pulsus Description: Causes a large arc of fast moving wind to knock into opponents and possibly knock them down. It also can interfere with any flying creature though the larger the creature the less it will bother them Level: Year 5
Name: Ball of Fire Incantation: Volubilis flamma Description: The spell creates a small ball of fire that then hovers over the caster’s hand until dispelled or it burns out after 1 hour. The ball gives off heat like a normal fire and will burn the hand if held to close ( the sphere is mentally commanded once summoned, but the difficulty of maintaining it increases as the distance from the hand grows making it impossible to maintain after a few feet) and will cause thing to catch on fire if it touches them. Level: Year 3
Name: Size increase Incantation: Voluntarius relaxo Description: The spell causessubjects to grow up to four times its original size. The target must be willing or at least calm when this is cast or the spell will fail. Caster chooses how large to make the target. Spell is designed to work on live subjects. Level: Year 6
Name: Shrink size Incanation Voluntarius redigo Description: The spell causes things to shrink up to four times their size. The target must be willing or at least calm when spell is cast or the spell will fail. Caster chooses how small to make the target. Spell is designed to work on living targets.
Name: Soften earth Incantation: Mollis humus Description: Causes the earth targeted to become soft as if freshly tilled, making planting or harvesting crops much easier. The spell’s maximum range is about 10ft x 5ft x 1ft. Level: Year 2
Name: Fertile Earth Incantation: Venustus terra Description: Causes the soil to become rich in nutrients as though it has been spread with quality fertilizer. The effect wears off after about 2 weeks. Level: Year 2.
Name: Warp Plants Incantation: Syrma sero Description: The spells allows plants to become more pliable and easier to train the way the grow allowing for less strain and illness for the plant while slightly accelerating their growth. Example: Allows bonsai trees to be shaped quickly but will not cause tree branches to instantly twist together. Level: Level 2
I am not very sure about the year requirements, but I think i made them fair. Keep in mind that the hell on earth and peace of mind are special crafted spells by Shellivia so unless she has shown them to other people I doubt they will know it. If the dream walker would happen to waltz in on the person's nightmare they would see their own worst nightmares coming to get them, since it's an area effect spell targeted on the person's mind, with the other person possibly in the background. Keep in mind the person trapped cannot die from it, it simply holds them in complete and total fear.
(Yes I know its a lot of spells, but more will be coming, in shorter posts, i just wanted to get a bunch out there.)

About "Hell Fire" and "peace of mind" I don't think they should be Shellevia exclusive, considering I was thinking of submitting a "tranquility" spell myself, as it would be useful for Althea to calm patients should they need it... I don't see what's so "exclusively centaur" about those spells anyway... So, I really don't agree with that, cuz I want to use them too (well the peace one anyway, Althea would most certainly know that or something extremely similar.)

Spell Name: Dull Pain Incantation: Torpeo Morsus Description: This spell dulls the pain of the target for a short while (a couple of minutes for an amature wizard to one hour if cast by a professional or adult). The target simply doesn't feel pain. However it cannot be used in combat: if the target of the spell is subjected to more pain, the spell fizzles. It is the magical equivalent of morphine, without the side effects. It is used as a first aid spell, and is relativity easy to learn. It does not work on relieving pain caused by the Crucio Curse.
Suggested Year Requirement: 2nd year.

Peace of mind can be an everyone spell, and I never said it was CENTAUR only i said shellivia. She has spent over 12 years in the woods by her self dealing with weird creatures who do some crazy stuff, so I'm sure she picked something up. Stop being so racist . The hell on earth is a boggart variation, so unless someone else has spent about 10 years in the woods dealing with them, i don't think they would know about it, and i've never seen anything ike it in the harry potter verse. Peace of mind can be a regular spell since its sounds kinda like Valium and would be good to calm students down during exams.

Ok, beacuse the way you said it sounded like it was centaur specific since Shellevia=centaur. I assumed that's why you wanted exclusive rights... No matter, so long as I can use the "peace mind spell."

One at a time, all of these should be approved in the order they've been posted. There's still Nicholas's spells and Stevie's spells to discuss.
I've already given my two cents on Nicholas's.
Stevie's sound like they'd already exist, if they don't then we should go ahead and approve them no problem. Though 1) I think a similiar incantation to Quiesco already exists, and 2) the year requirements should be lowered in my opinion.
