Even though it was still Summer Holiday, Elsbeth was hard at work in her office, going through the student roster for the coming year. She was new to the job of Headmistress and was hoping to better acquaint herself with all the students and staff as well as all the nooks and crannies of the castle.
On occasion she would discuss things with past Headmasters' and Headmistress' portraits, but today she was too busy reading her staff list and reviewing their office locations, job requirements and class lists that she was so engrossed in all that she was doing.
She was so into her work, in fact, that she probably wouldn't even hear or notice if someone were to come into her office.

Zea, having arrived at the school early on in the season in order to get properly settled in, knocked on the door gently, carrying a pile of books and various strange tools.

Though she was terribly engrossed in her work, Elsbeth faintly heard a knocking at her office doors. Looking up from her parchments for a brief moment, she called out to her visitor. "Yes, please do come in!"
She then turned her attention back to the scrolls of parchment in front of her.

Zea wrestled the door handle open with her elbow, and bustled into the room, looking agitated and excited.
She dropped the pile of stuff on a chair, and held out her hand to the new Headmistress.
"I'm Zea Winters," she said, grinning. "And I have a few things to discuss with you."

As the visitor opened the door and entered her office, Elsbeth looked up to see that it was a woman who was probably one of her staff; who else would be in the school in the middle of the summer?
As the woman introduced herself and placed her things on a chair, Elsbeth's ears perked at the mention of the name Zea Winters. She had been looking over the staff roster, after all.
She shook Ms. Winters' outstretched hand, and greeted her warmly. "Welcome, Miss Winters, what can I do for you?" she then glanced down at her roster after waving her professor to the chair next the one holding her belongings. Waiting for her to sit down, Elsbeth wasn't so sure on what class this Zea was teaching. It was clear that her staff roster needed some more reviewing.

Zea scrambled into the chair in a somewhat klutzy manner, appearing to perch precariously on the edge of her seat.
"Well, I don't know what you know, or even if you know. I teach Ancient Runes, I'm Head of House for Ravenclaw, and I specialize in Runes and archaeological findings. I've been interested in hunting down some of the more curious aspects of Hogwarts."
"In actuality, I'm seeking your permission to allow me to add something new to my Seventh-year roster. I'd like us to perform some actual field research in this school, trying to date things that are unknown either by magical or Muggle methods. One such room would be the Chamber of Secrets."
"Oh dear, I'm babbling again. Woo. So, what do you think?"

"Well, to be honest, that sounds like a rather intriguing idea." she said with interest. "However, I don't much like the part about the Chamber of Secrets. It's meant to be a secret, you know."
Elsbeth said that last bit in a joking manner, letting a small smile play on her lips. She was, hoever, not so keen on the idea of students roaming around the Chamber, despite the fact that they would all be seventh-years. It was no place for students. There was also the matter of Parsel-Tongue to consider.
"And how would you gain access to this Chamber? There are no Parsel-Tongue speaking wizards in the school, to my knowledge."

Zea pondered this for a few moments.
"This is true. I will have to conduct further research on this, and, failing that, we may need to resort to more brutish methods. The entrance is, if I recall, located under the sinks as found by Harry Potter many years ago, perhaps we can simply remove them and break the wards."
"There was a report written by him, you know, albeit a short one, about some of the things that occurred down there, and the things he saw. I want to explore how Runes were used to construct the powerful Dark magic down there, as that is part of the Seventh year syllabus. Of course, they won't know how to do it, but I want students to understand where Dark magic comes from, as a better method to understanding why it is bad."
"And what's a secret without someone to uncover it? I'm afraid I'm terrible for that. My thirst for knowledge is overwhelming."

Elsbeth nodded at her colleague's mention of Harry Potter's report on the Chamber of Secrets from many years past, and began to understand the woman's reasoning for wanting to bring her class down to uncover the room's secrets.
"I suppose it would be alright, but I would feel much better if you would take another witch or wizard from the staff with you on your class trip to the Chamber."

"Oh, most certainly. I wouldn't dream of it. It won't be until later in the term, anyway, so I imagine I can find an interested... erm, volunteer. Perhaps combine it with Defence Against the Dark Arts, the Seventh year class. Hmm."
She grinned, twirling some of her hair.
"Well, thank you. That'll be perfect!"

A brief shadow flittered over the window as a peregrine falcon perched itself on the ledge. It pecked a few times at the window, a letter-holder on it leg.

"You're very welcome, Miss Winters. And if there is anything else at all with which I can be of service, please don't hesitate to let me know."
She rose from her seat and smiled at the professor. "If you'll excuse me for just a second, I seem to have a visitor at my window."
Elsbeth turned to the window nearest her, the one where she had heard a tapping sound. She walked over and opened the latch, letting the bird sit on the window's ledge. (OOC: That might be God modding, but I'm assuming your falcon is a NPC, alright?)

The falcon gave a short squawk as it hopped into the Headmistresses office. It hopped aside, presenting it's leg with the letter attached. The letter-case was easily opened and the neat handwriting of Nicholas Lannsman could be seen.
To the Headmistress Elsbeth Pierce, I hope that the summer has been treating you well, and that you have taken time to at least enjoy this wonderful weather. I will be arriving within the week, once my business with the Ministry is concluded. I believe my wife and children will be arriving before I and in the case a letter doesn't reach them before you see them, send them my best regards and tell them of my imminent arrival.
I look forward to meeting this years newest students and recruits, and to when we will have the opportunity to speak in person. Do take care, and be sure not to work yourself sick already; the school year has yet to begin.
Honour guide you, Sir Nicholas Gawain Lannsman

Elsbeth took the letter from the Falcon's leg, and opened it. Before reading it, she apologized to Professor Winters for the rude gesture. "I apologize, Miss Winters, I should read this now otherwise I will forget all about it after our meeting."
She skimmed through the missive, nodding once and letting out a "Mhmm" before rolling it back up and placing it inside the first drawer of her desk.
"Right," she said, "Now, where were we?"

"I believe we were coming to the end of any important business, at least. If you've got things to do, I'll get out of your hair."
