Orynn looked at Nicholas venomously, and his wand quickly darted upwards towards the man.
“Duro!”
The silver stream hit the Knight-Wizard at point-blank range. The sound of crackling resounded through the Great Hall to everyone’s amazement as Nicholas’ breastplate turned to solid stone. Nicholas felt the weight of it immediately as he stumbled back from the blast, and Orynn snatched the opportunity to distance himself from the knight.
He thrust his arms out wide, his inky cloak spreading outwards and upwards until they transformed themselves into a pair of black feathered wings. With one strong flap of the transfigured wings, Orynn flew back a good twenty feet before he landed on the ground with a limp. The wings quickly transformed back into the cloak as Orynn waved his arms in the air, muttering something in a strange language under his breath. For a moment nothing happened, until the pools of water on the ground began to separate. Beads of water the size of snitches formed, and levitated off the ground. With his arms raised on either side of his body, he glared at Nicholas with sheer anger. The beads of water soon glazed over as they were transformed into balls of glass.

Dónall watched in amazement as his Head of House did absolutely nothing to stop the knight. 'Why doesn't he do something?! For Merlin's sake, man...'
Watching in awe, he mentally screamed 'Finally!' as Deputy Headmaster Novim disappeared into thin air and became visible through the magical rain the Gryffindor Head had produced.
The duel quickly escalated and Don let out a whispered "Wicked!" as his Head of House transformed into a billow of dark smoke. That feeling of awe was short lived, however, as the knight slashed through the smoke with his sword.
Eyes wide and mouth half open, Don was shocked to see that Professor Novim was hurt. He expected better from the Slytherin Head.
The Headmistress attempted to stop the duel, but the two professors ignored her as was obvious from Novim's quick transfiguration of the surrounding water into beads of glass.
Dónall watched with intensity as he waited to see what would happen next. This was sure to be an exciting duel that he would never forget. He only hoped his Head of House wouldn't be the one to lose.

Neoma went from excited spectator, to nervous and worried child. Why weren't they listening to her? She glared in shock and awe as the Head of Slytherin completely ignored the Headmistress's request to end the duel. Her gaze darted from one combatant to the other.
She had been speechless at Orynn's ability to completely disolve into smoke. It seemed to do him little good however, seeing as he suffered some sort of injury. When he then turned the Knight's armor into stone, Neoma had winced at the loud cracking sound it had made. The Head of Gryffindor awas too preoccupied with his much too heavy armor to perhaps notice the actions of his opponent. Neoma's eyes widened as the balls of water levitated and turn into harmful looking spheres of glass.
"He's out to hurt him." She heard herself whisper aloud in disbelief.

Shellivia had been leaning back against the wall until the moment she saw Orynn ignore the headmistress and continue fighting. "The headmistress said-" she said, walking forward but stopped when she saw that he had raised the glass beads. That's a bit extreme for a friendly duel... She looked to Nicholas meaning to warn him, but saw on his face a look she knew too well. It was the Auro look; the expression on his face said that he was no longer simply dueling as a celebration to Harry, now he was serious. No longer worried, she began to move towards his wife; the poor woman looked like she was about to pass out or jump into the ring to defend him.

Nicholas, after quickly enchanting his armor back to its normal state, had just enough time to slap aside a bead that rocketed towards him. Upon impact with his sword, the sphere shattered with a resounding crackle of breaking glass, and soon after reverted back to harmless drop of water before they hit the ground. Without waiting for any further attack, Nicholas charged towards Orynn still rather quickly.
Nicholas tore across the Hall, moving as best he could to dodge some of the projectiles, slapping some aside with his sword as he did so, one actually colliding with his breastplate and shattering. Nicholas gave a short cry of pain but pressed onwards regardless, closing the distance between Orynn and himself frighteningly fast.
Orynn burst into smoke once more, circling around the knight and forming once again before the knight could strike out, facing his back. Nicholas was twisting his body around to face Orynn, but the Deputy jabbed his right hand forward with his wand to where Nicholas’ heart would when he’d completed his turn. What Orynn failed to anticipate, consistently in regards to his opponent, was Nicholas’ sword, which cut through the air as it screamed around, halting just at Orynn’s jugular.
Both men heaved and sighed, as the sound of women’s shoes came quickly towards them. The Headmistress was not happy.

Althea ran towards Nicholas, nearly in tears and shaking after being forced to watch the whole duel end the way it did. (Assuming that the barrier was dispelled)
"WHAT IN HEAVEN'S NAME WAS THAT, ORYNN?" She shouted at the deputy. "Why is it that you never know when to draw the line? That display was in honor of Harry Potter and you felt the need to pervert it by cheating- more specifically, THREATENING my husband like that? Friendly duel, my ass. It appears you haven't changed at all since our school days, Orynn." She tried to keep her comments to a hushed tone, as not for the students or other faculty to hear, but her emotions naturally elevated the tone of her voice.
She turned once more to Nicholas, trying to get his breast plate off him to assess the damage. "Are you, ok?- Do you have trouble breathing?"

Elsbeth was shocked and appaled at the blatant display of disregard for propriety and proper conduct during a duel. The Deputy Headmaster had obviously had something up his sleeve, and the fight was no longer fair for either of the opponents.
"That is enough!!" she screamed at the two men, "I will not have such a display in front of the children!"
Breathing in heavily, Elsbeth reprimanded her two colleagues. "After being thoroughly checked over by Nurse Lannsmann I want the both of you to stay right here. It's time we had a nice long chat."
Turning to the spectators, she ordered them back to their Common Rooms. "Everyone else, return to your Common Rooms, at once!"
She shook her head in disappointment; this was meant to be an honorable duel, not a petty dispute between rivals.
The nurse then ran forward to check on her husband and yell at Deputy Headmaster Novim.
[OOC: Sorry, this was supposed to be before Althea's post, but I didn't get a chnace to go online this morning.]

Upon the sound of rushing feet towards him and the Headmistress' angry outburst, he turned his gaze to her. His face was a startling, impassive mask of cold calm.
He winced ever so slightly as he withdrew his sword from Orynn's neck to slide it swiftly back into its sheathe.
"Yes, Headmistress." he said, his voice deadpan. He looked back to Orynn, matching the man's blazing look of outrage with a blank, cool stare. He responded to his wife in the same expressionless manner, looking Orynn in the eyes. "I think my breastplate took most off the hit. I think I'll have some bruising, but that should be the extent of it. I doubt anythings broken. Could you help remove my armor please? I don't think I'd be able to do it on my own."
He looked back to his wife, his eyes betraying the hint of pain he was trying to hide.

The sound of stone hooves striking the floor could be ehard and the clip clop stoped once Shellivia was standing next to Nicholas. "Quite a display, I must say though I am dissapointed;" she looked Nicholas straight in the eyes and her voice had the same impassive quailty that was displayed on his face, "next time don't hold back." Still, once Althea had helped him with the armour, she reached out and squeezed his sholder gently.
Looking to the deputy headmaster her face was stone. "If you were trying to replicate the tactics of the great battle, you failed. Next time you try to play you may want to think long and hard about breaking the rules. You are not what I would expect for an example for the students."

With all the confusion with the whizzing balls of glass, Neoma wasn't quite sure what had happened. What was for certain is that it probably shouldn't've, especially with the reactions from most of the staff.
Neoma wanted desperately to know if Nicholas was okay, but her House Prefects were shoving her out the of the Great Hall. She glanced back quickly, and could see the cold gaze of the Deputy. Had he no remorse for what he had done?

The words and highly enraged voices around him were not heard. Nicholas and Orynn held their gaze firmly, Orynn could feel the skin on his neck become irritated and itchy, but not pierced in the slightest. When the sword was retracted, Orynn did the same with his wand, hidding it away in his robes. It was when Nicholas finally looked away, and when the Headmistress dismissed the students that Orynn couldn't hide his own wound anymore.
Orynn's left leg, from the knee down, had suddenly turned to smoke and it caused the deputy to fall over due to lack of support holding up his body. When he landed, his leg reverted back on it's own, and Orynn was clutching it hard. He sat up on the floor, barring his teeth together as to not let out a cry of pain. His leg, again from the knee down only, turned back into smoke; his hands passing right through it. His expression was one of disbelief and awe, as he raised up his hands to look at them.
The smoke came back together to reform his limb, and again Orynn seemed to be overtaken with his own stubborn will not to show pain. Even though it was plainly obvious something was wrong, something the Deputy would never admit, but something was definitely wrong.

The nurse help slide the rest of Nicholas' armor off, and turned to find Oyrnn clutching his leg. She almost wanted to leave him there to pay for cheating in yet another duel, but she could not. She had sworn an oath to aid those who needed it, regardless of who they were.
She quickly assessed Nicholas' injury only to find that he was somewhat bruised and maybe had a cracked rib, but couldn't be sure at the moment, as he stood staring at Orynn trying not to show any emotion or sign of pain.
She looked back to Orynn and took a few steps towards him."You're injured." She said simply, "I should take a look at you're leg. Do you think you can make it to the hospital wing? Speaking of which," Her attention now on the Headmistress, "Perhaps you should speak with them in the hospital wing instead. I'd be able to help both of them there better, rather than standing in the Great Hall."

As the duel climaxed, Don got visibly excited at the prosect of his House Head beating the Gryffindor knight. However, that idea was soon shattered when he saw the duel end abruptly with the knight's sword at Novim's neck, and the Deputy's wand at Lannsmann's heart.
The Headmistress stopped the fight before it could take a turn for the evn worse, and Don must admit that he was disappointed it hadn't gone further. His Head of House had neither won nor lost the duel, but it was disappointing nonetheless.
As the students were ushered out of the Great Hall, Dónall hung back, getting a better look at his Slytherin Head. There was something peculiar about the way the man fell over. Getting a closer look, he realized that it was because Novim's lower leg had transfigured into smoke, while the rest of his body had stayed in its natural state. 'Peculiar indeed.'
Obviously something was amiss with the Deputy Headmaster, but Dónall wasn't the type to go rushing over to see if he was alright. That was more of a Gryffindor thing to do. He simply attempted making eye contact with the man, to acknowledge him and what had transpired.
As he locked eyes with the professor, the school nurse finally noticed the Deputy Headmaster's wound.

Nicholas looked down to Orynn with a pitiless look on his face. "I could possibly cast a Charm on the Deputy Headmaster to allow his leg to stay in a corporeal form long enough for us to get him to the Hospital Wing, but I want to be certain that this time my efforts to help won't be turned aside with a spell."
He looked back to the Headmistress for an answer, gently placing a hand to his side. "May I, Headmistress?"
His lack of emotion was unnerving. As was his blank face.

Elsbeth was not happy in the least. She was quite disappointed in her staff today; she thought they were better than this, and would have acted maturely in such an important duel.
Sighing, she turned away from the damage, and answered the nurse. "Yes, Mrs Lannsmann, I suppose that would be a little more efficient in this matter. The meeting will be held in the Hospital Wing, but I must ask that you not be present; it seems to me that you might be in the know of what lies between these two, and a certain Deputy Headmaster of mine might be uncomfortable talking in front of you." She leaned in closer and whispered the rest. "Though, to tell you the truth, I doubt he'd ever admit to as such."
Looking back at her injured colleagues, she turned to Sir Nicholas. "You may help Deputy Novim, though that is entirely up to him."
