Nicholas sighed inwardly at the daydreaming girls. He knew Orynn's underhanded tactics and even now, with him gone, he still had strings attached to unwary puppets.
"Unfortunately, Orynn's departure also removed him from the position of Deputy. He can hardly be the Headmistress' right hand if he's no where in sight. And it does seem very Orynn like to be sneaking off after an attack instrad of actually helping, being all secretive...and mysterious like." Nicholas muttered, sounding uncharacteristically bitter and annoyed. "I wouldn't put Orynn passed much. He's done plenty of things before that make me question the morality of that man, if he indeed has any left."
He gently rubbed Althea's lower back.
"Well, as soon as I doublecheck with another doctor, maybe I can take you out for a walk to the Great Hall so we can look for these mysterious disappearing wands." he said, his voice returning to its gentle tone.

"I don't exactly call our wands disappearing a mysterious event... We kind of lost them when we were busy being chew toys... They should be somewheres in the Great Hall. If not the Aurors may have found them. And yes, I'd like to get out of here as soon as possible..."

Isabelle raised an eyebrow at Nicholas' tone when he spoke of Professor Novim, but she still seemed to be avoiding his gaze. She sank back into her pillows with a small sigh before she went on:
"Well, you'll excuse me if I won't join in the suspicion party, Sir, but we've been told to show our professors proper respect. So I'll wait until the Aurors find solid proof of who's responsible for putting my sister in danger. Then I'll happily join you in giving them what they deserve, no matter who it is."
Though Isabelle's tone had first sounded rather ironic, her expression took a rather serious turn as she finished her statement.
Sera and Mary, having been pulled out of their daydream and feeling rather embarrassed and uncomfortable at the current topic of discussion, gratefully accepted the change of subject to the missing wands.
"We can help you search for the wands if you want. It'd give us at least something to be useful for..."
"Oh yes, most definitely! Unless... Well unless you guys wanted to spend that time alone of course...", added Mary shyly.

"Listen girls, you are allowed to believe what you will about Mr. Novim. All we are saying is that appearances aren't everything. We've known him a great deal longer than you, and have formed our own opinions-" Althea said, matter-of-factly, a little annoyed that Isabelle had the nerve to talk back to Nicholas."As for our wands, I don't mind if you come. It's not like turning over tables and chairs isn't my idea of romance."

Nicholas turned his gaze to Isabelle, looking somewhat hurt by her comments and answering ina somewhat subdued voice.
"You're right, Isabelle, I have no proof. Only suspicions. I guess I wouldn't know anything about how Aurors investigate or any good reasons why I have suspicions about Professor Novim. I understand why you must be trying to protect him, seeing as how he so valiantly abandoned students here to their fate. Not that anything I say to you matters, since I'm nothing but a sword swinging moron, right Miss Wesker? I guess my praise about what you did for your sister would be meaningless in any case. It'd be much more worth listening to if it came from the former Deputy...if he were around."
Nicholas looked back to Isabelle's friends, looking hurt. "You can come along if you'd like, Mary, Sera. Just a lot of trudging through the hall, trying to find Waldo."

"I didn't... I... You..." Isabelle chocked up for a while, at lost for words. She finally let out a sort of sigh as she apparently gave up on trying to say something, and she just sat there, staring at her hands and barely blinking.
Mary and Sera looked to each other for a bit before they turned back to Nicholas, looking rather confused and scared.
"Sir Nick... We weren't... We weren't trying to discredit you..."
"We just can't wrap our minds around the idea that anyone we know could be responsible, Professor..."
The two girls looked rather apprehensive, not really sure how to handle that side of their Professor they had just met.
Isabelle remained silent, fiddling with her hands.

Nicholas simply nodded slightly, his voice a little more quiet and pained.
"I hope you understand that my respect for Professor Novim is at best strained. When he rapes the memories of a helpless and defeated opponent, that person will find my enmity. So please, forgive me if I won't join you in singing his praises. I have more important things to do; like taking care of the school and children he's left behind." he said, then holding his arm out gingerly to Althea and speaking tenderly.
"Unlike him, I'll do what a Deputy Headmaster needs to do instead of abandoning them in their time of need. If you'll forgive me, girls, I'll be helping Althea look for her wand."

An uncomfortable silence hung over the three girls for a while. Isabelle was still staring at her hands intently, and Mary was about to ruin her comic book, rolling and twisting it in her hands.
Sera finally cleared her throat, breaking the silence as she addressed Isabelle.
"Isa, do you want us to-"
"Listen, how bout you guys go and look for my wand if you want? I'm tired. I think I should try to sleep some." Isabelle said rather quickly, her voice cracking a bit and sounding somewhat off. She shifted onto her good side and drew her blanket up to her nose.
"Hum, well, if you're sure... And hum, if you guys still want us to come help...", attempted Mary, now trying to smooth out her comic issue.

Althea shuddered when Nicholas brought up the 'raping of memories'. She took Nicholas' arm and slowly rose to her feet, leaving heavily on Nicholas for support. "If you'd like." She said simply to Mary.
