Character Name: Dónall (Daniel) Kennedy. Don, for short.
Character Age: 16
Wand: 11 inch, Oak, Dragon Heartstring core.
Pet (if any): An owl named Marius
Family History (Go into detail, if possible): Dónall was born to Seán (John) and Gráinne (Grace) Kennedy, a pure-blooded couple from Ireland, with no other children. They raised him to look down on anyone different or not as wealthy as themselves, and made sure to instil a dislike for muggles in him.
Seán Kennedy attended Durmstrang, and graduated at the top of his class. He soon after took over the family diamond business and met Gráinne in the same year. Gráinne had attended Hogwarts, and had been in Slytherin House. She was reputed for being a bit of a snob, and never had to work for anything in her life. She bought her homework from her peers and never had to study too much. She did not work after Hogwarts, but vacationed with her parents until she met Seán. They were wed a year and a half later. Dónall was born nine months after they consecrated their marriage.
Don’s father works in the diamond industry, as a manager, and does business in the Wizarding world as well as the Muggle world, on occasion. He only deals with Muggles because it gives him the opportunity to take advantage of them and swindle their money. This leaves the Kennedy family very well off.
Don was raised to believe that excellence is the main thing to be proud of in life, and he uses this ideal to his benefit in school. In his first few years at Hogwarts he worked hard, but as his father pressured him more and more, he began to lash out more than usual and would land himself in detentions almost every day. It got to the point where, in his fourth year, he was forced to quit the Quidditch team because he was spending more time in detention than he was on the pitch for practice.
After quitting the Quidditch team, Dónall withdrew into himself, though he still was borderline cruel to those who would get in his way or pry too much into his personal life. However, he tried harder to behave better in class; there was nothing else they could take away from him if he continued misbehaving, anyway. He went on to take his OWLs in 9 courses, and will continue on in 6 of them. He will be taking Potions, Charms, Care of Magical Creatures, Transfiguration, Defence Against the Dark Arts, and Ancient Runes.
Dónall stays in Hogwarts for Christmas holiday because his parents travel during that time. He receives many gifts from them, but does not have the pleasure of their company or the comfort of his own bed at home. His summer holiday is spent vacationing in his family summer’s house; very far away from any people – Muggle and Wizard alike. Their fireplace is open to the floo-network, though, and they receive many guests on weekends.
Physical Description: Dónall is 5”9 and has a lean build. Due to his short Quidditch career (A year and a half) he had begun to develop some muscle, but not too much. He has black hair, and will usually just leave the front spiked.

Personality Description (Go into detail, if possible): Dónall has an attitude problem, and talks back to his professors, even without much provocation. This is very unfortunate because he has an extremely bright mind. Though he loves to read and to write, he hides this from his classmates, and even his parents, because it does not seem fitting for a boy of his stature. He works hard, and can be quite stubborn at times, but though he receives good marks, he cannot be bothered to crack open a book to study. He is, so it would seem, a natural learner in most subjects and this study method, or lack thereof, works for him.
Dónall pokes fun at others, and belittles those he views as weak. However, he has let up a little on this since his fourth year, due to a priority shift. He still will ridicule or insult students, but only when he deems it absolutely necessary. Otherwise, Dónall keeps to himself, and quietly rules his House.
Strengths: Dónall has a strong sense of pride for his family, and the pure-blooded community, and will stand up for his beliefs when beneficial only to himself.
Weaknesses: He has an ungrounded dislike for those who are not well off or pure-blooded. His grades suffer when he hears from his father, because his father is constantly pressuring him and encouraging him to 'rule over' the student body if it means furthering himself in his academics.
If given the opportunity - would you take part in a Quidditch team, a Book Club, a Potions group or an Afternoon Tea party?
Don would love to be on the Quidditch team, but to be honest, he was forced to quit in his fourth year due to the amount of detentions he had been receiving. He would take part in a book club, now, for sure.
If you found a wandering Kneazle, what would you do?
If it was in his way, Don might kick it or move it with his foot. If not, then he would walk right on by, not paying any attention to the creature.
What House would you like to be placed in (This is to be taken into consideration, though the Hat will ultimately make the final decision)?
Slytherin, where his mother was housed during her Hogwarts career.
Why would you like to be in this student group and not the others?
Dónall would love to be in Slytherin because that is what his family expects of him. He also believes that is where he would do best.
(He would like to be in the 5-6 year group because his character would be best played that way. Or, at least, that’s what his RL player thinks…)
Please give us an example RP:
Sitting under a tree by the lake, Dónall’s face was all that showed beneath the hood of his dark green sweatshirt. It was a chilly and rainy evening, and he decided that it was the perfect weather for the way he was feeling. He stared at the blades of grass, watching as the rain beat down hard on the ground, spraying drops in many directions.
He had just been forced to quit the Quidditch team and he felt as if his whole world had upturned itself. Quidditch had been the only thing that made him happy, aside from his books, and it had been taken away from him all because he had chosen the wrong way to deal with his father’s constant badgering. Of course, he had known what he was doing; he was the master of his emotions, after all.
However, he had never expected his behaviour to land him as many detentions as it had, and he was quite sore at the prospect of having free evenings again. If he had already lost his Quidditch practices, then what point was there in continuing to receive detentions? There was nothing more they could take away from the fourteen year old boy.
A second year Hufflepuff walked by, and peered down at Don, to see who it was that was crazy enough to be sitting outside in the pouring rain. This twelve year old was crazy too, then, for she was simply walking outside, seemingly on her way to the greenhouses or to the school itself; Dónall wasn’t sure. She stared too closely, for after a few seconds, Dónall yelled an “Oi, Huffy, get lost! This ain’t a place for ickle girlies, y’know! Move along!”
The girl ran off, and Don heard a sob escape her before she had gotten too far away for anything to be audible.
“None of her blasted business is it?” he thought aloud to himself. “Nosy buggers, the lot of ‘em.”
Dónall sat there, under his tree, for the better part of the evening, and eventually ended up missing dinner.
