"Hmm" she said, deep in thought. "That's quite interesting. Orynn; a master of puppets. I haven't noticed it here, or maybe that could mean he's been manipulating me. I don't wish to think of him in that wsaay, though. He is my Deputy."
"So his reasoning wasn't baseless, then. So this is why he dislikes you so much, and why you have the same feeling for him. I must say, it is quite alarming."
Elsbeth leaned back in her chair and clasped her hands together in front of her. She then spoke once more. "So, Sir Nick, what can we do to ensure something like this won't happen again? How can I get my favorite staff wizards to coexist without risk of a fallout?"

Nicholas stood before the Headmistress and moved his hand towards the sword sheathe. After a few deft motions, the scabbard and sword came free. With both hands, Nicholas gently and almost reverently placed the sword upon the Headmistress' desk.
"This sword has been with me since the day I earned it. I've kept it in shape, I've treated it with utmost respect and care in honor of the position given to me with it. I relinquish this blade to you as a token my peace, showing you the extent of my dedication to making things right. I have acted irrationally, disrespecting both my superiors. Please accept this. I have nothing more that I could give, say or do to make even Orynn believe it." he said with a tinge of hollowness, as though sad to depart with the weapon, but understanding his duty.
He stood before her, straight backed.
"I will adhere to whatever the Headmistress wishes of me, so I might make amends for my actions." he said peacefully, bowing, but not standing back up.

Elsbeth gently kicked Nicholas and exclaimed, "No, no, you silly man, keep your sword! I have no use for such a thing other than to marvel at its beauty."
She pushed the sword slightly, moving it toward him. "All I ask of you is that you try to get along with my Deputy. I can't say whether or not he wil do the same, but as long as you try, that's all I can really ask of anyone."

Nicholas hopped a bit in surprise when Elsbeth...kicked him? He was a little stunned that she didn't take the weapon, but he would not refuse her orders; he said he'd follow them, whatever they were. He picked up the weapon, still in its sheathe and began to tie it back onto his belt.
"It doesn't matter entirely what he does or says; he may tell you one thing and do another, or refuse or agree. All I want to be known is that I will try my best not to let it happen again. If push regrettably comes to shove, I will not react as childishly as I did before. Let him keep his opinions to himself, they are his own." he said, his voice gathering some of his old strength. He looked to th Headmistress, measuring something in his mind. He finally spoke.
"That duel...he will tell you about it. I'll finish my version completely. You see, I was in a state at seeing Althea...after he'd...Well...I charged him and he spelled my wand out of my hand and I kept charging and..." Nicholas sighed before shrugging helplessly. "I gave the rutting bloke the beating of a lifetime. I almost broke his nose with a punch, knocked him to the ground and head butted him unconscious."

"Hmm, I'm sure that beating must have done wonders for his ego..." Elsbeth said, a bit jokingly. "It's no wonder he doesn't like you."
"You did what you thought best for the situation, who am I to judge, right?"

Nicholas was a bit perplexed; she let him keep his sword, she didn't seem to furious at him about what had happened after the duel, and she wasn't cross about the way he beat Orynn in his last year.
He took in a small breath. "Well, I did something that I don't regret. What he did, in my opinion was unforgivable. Then again, so did I. I just don't want anything like that to happen again myself." he said, patiently. Nicholas shrugged. "I'm growing tired of it, personally. I just wish he would either drop it, or move on from it. I only reacted up to date if he attacked me first. I'll keep myself in check, from now on. They're just words in any case."
He looked to the Headmistress, standing taller and more confident again. "Anything else you wish of me, Headmistress?"

"Well, I wish you the best of luck when dealing with him in the future."
She smiled, and answered his question. "No, I believe that's it for now. Thank you so much for stopping by."

Nicholas' warm hearted smile returned for a brief second before he threw it behind a look of professionalism. He bowed deeply at the waist.
"Thank you for your time, Headmistress." he said as he stood back up. He fixed her with a look of sincere gratitude and spoke in his normal, friendly and gentle tone. "I'm very thankful for you council, Elsbeth. I won't let you down again. I'm in your debt, you do realize."
