Draelynn had already poked around quite a bit and had already met a few ghosts, conversed with some very interesting paintings and met the Muggle Studies professor in front of an interesting tapestry depicting a crazy old wizard surrounded by trolls in tutus.
He wandered along, peering into open doorways, occasionally opening closed ones that had stuff like 'History of Magic classroom' emblazoned on a plaque, or some other such identification.

[[Apart from the short periods of time spent introducing herself to the Headmistress and Deputy Headmaster, Zea has spent most of her time in her office, preparing things. The door to her office is always left open, should your wandering take you into Ravenclaw tower in the west of the castle.]]

Shellivia's hooves can be heard clip-clopping down the halls as she makes a round of the castle. Having grown more accustomed to stairs over the few years she's been at the castle, she remains in her centaur form as she wanders around, saying hello to familiar faces and introducing herself to the new people she spots around the school. Her smile always seems amused when she extends her hand to the confused new professor, but she is always very kind and soft spoken, usually offering a tour of the grounds when they have the time, and perhaps maybe some tea if they are interested. Heading down the history section she spied a new face who she didn't recognize yet. Trotting over to him she held out her hand and smiled. "Hello and good day to you," she said to the man, "Shellivia Nos Taronin, how are you?"

((Thanks Zea, I'll remember that.))
Draelynn blinked at the beautiful creature (or was it a woman?) before him. He longed to stroke her velvety-looking sides, but dragged his mind back from the woods and starry skies it had wandered off to as he had looked upon this dweller of the forests.
He shook her hand slightly dazedly, smiling brightly at Shelliva. "How wonderful to meet you, Miss Taronin," Draelynn beamed at Shelliva. "and a very good day to you, as well!" He smiled at her, wondering what she taught.
The sleek-looking centaur seemed to have an air about her, like she expected to be treated with respect, but unlike others Draelynn had met with this same air, she didn't seem at all snobbish or rude.

The amusement never left her eyes and her tail swished the ground as she took a small step back, more to give him room than to move away. "You must be new here," she said and glanced around the hall, "Would you care for a tour of the grounds or perhaps some tea Mr...?" she waited politely for him to supply his name.

"Hiammgry. Draelynn Hiammgry. I'm the new Groundskeeper. A cup of tea sounds great!" Draelynn quickly supplied. Afraid Shelliva might think he was being rude for not accepting the invitation for a tour, he quickly added, "Not that I don't want to see the grounds, but I find I get used to things more easily if I just get used to them on my own."
Draelynn smiled at her, still marveling at the fact that he was talking to a real live centaur! He was having a hard time concealing his excitement. He couldn't wait to talk to her about the woods, running through whipping boughs of sweet-scented trees with the stars gazing maternally down. . .

Shellivia bowed her head at his acceptance. "Wonderful. The new groundskeeper? Oh that will make life much easier. I've been having to watch over it since I arrived and quite frankly my classes are becoming to absorbing to monitor it as much as it should be. I'm glad the headmistress hired someone in. Have you much experience in the field?" she walked slowly leading the way out of the castle down to the grounds.

Tugged out of his imaginings when Shelliva started talking, Draelynn was momentarily stunned, but regained his senses while she was talking. "I don't actually have any experience, though I have lived in a forest or near one since I was born. I signed on for this job because it doesn't seem like a very hard thing to do, for one, and because I know the Forbidden Forest and the Hogwarts grounds are rich in magical plants, animals and. . . other things. I have always wanted to come here. And you're just living proof that the area around here is home to many kinds of magical beasts." Draelynn explained to her. "It really is an amazing place. When I first saw the Forest when I was walking up to the castle, I was tempted to go straight in!" Draelynn said, an awestruck look on his face, his eyes going starry, which was a sure sign that he was lost somewhere in another dreamy thought.

Shellivia looked mildly concerned. "I'm not exactly living proof; my herd is from where you people have named Scandinavia, but you are right in assuming that there are centaurs in the forest. They are not so kind as me. We are on speaking terms, though they guard their territory fiercely, and there many other things in the forest you'll need to be wary of." She looked down at him and her eyes seemed older than she was. "Perhaps I should come with you on your first few runs; if nothing else to show you what to watch out for. There are... certain areas that should best be handled with caution. If nothing else it will give you an idea of where the students are most apt to run off to. After a few runs I'm sure you'll be able to handle yourself. But it would be very sad and bothersome if we had to do a search and rescue and only be able to find some scrapes of your clothing if something managed to get you." Outside now Shellivia looked much more at ease and shook herself out, her flanks and tail shaking vigorously and bits of hair fell off. A black squirrel came running up out of a side bush with a large acorn in it's mouth and leaped onto her back, seating itself rather contentedly before demolishing the nut. "The forest is a beautiful thing, and it needs to be protected, but you should best remember that many things that live in the forest you'll need protection from. Many things have simply been let go into the forest that shouldn't have been and thrive there unchecked." Her voice seems a bit somber as she says this and her eyes wander over the vast expanse of woods with an intimate knowledge. "After you know a few things you can wander around and find what secrets it has to offer. I have been here three years and I still haven't learned enough to say I know the place. At least I should bring you to meet the centaurs. They are unaware that a new groundskeeper has been hired and may believe that you are lying if they catch you in there un-escorted. It would solve a few sticky situations at least." She heads off in the direction of the lake motioning that Draelynn should come with her.

Draelynn, slightly chagrined at the centaur's information, followed Shelly, listening. When they got outside, he too seemed to shake off the stuffiness of the castle and breathed in a big breath of the mid-August air. It was just starting to get dark, and he looked up into the heavens, searching for the moon, which was a sliver away from being full. He finally found it, just above the distant treetops, it's reflection glinting on the water's edge of the lake, as it was not very high in the sky just yet.
At the comments of the centaurs, he started. "That will be rather exciting, I'm sure. I just hope I don't do anything to annoy them. I really don't want, nor need, centaurs mad at me on my very first day here." Draelynn had heard enough about centaurs in general, and these centaurs in particular, to keep him on his guard around them, though he had an instinctive feeling around Shelliva that she would understand, though maybe not like, if he offended her accidentally.
But all the same, he was excited about going into the Forbidden Forest. He had understood from the beginning that it was most definitely not safe, though until now hadn't had a lot of information of just how unsafe. He had a niggling feeling that he wouldn't totally know until he ran into something dangerous, but he hoped when he did mess up that it wouldn't be too serious, and also that he learned his lesson good and proper and didn't need a follow-up class.

Shellivia smiled a bit at his comment. "I highly doubt you'll offend them. It's bad character and omens in the stars that sets them off more than anything, and so far I've read nothing bad in the stars and you seem to be of good stock. Just mind your manners and I'm sure you'll do fine." She leads him down to a little hut not far from the lake. The door seems crooked and the whole structure seems to small to fit someone of Shellivia's size, but she walks in completely unhindered. Holding the door open she offers her hand, palm up, first to Drealynn then to the inside of the house before saying, "Won't you come in, there are a few things we need to speak of."

Draelynn followed her to the little hut, still looking about him at the grounds. He had, of course, seen them when he arrived, but that was a while ago, and in his opinion, everything looked better, or at least softer, by the light of the moon. The grounds were no different, and he couldn't take his eyes off the trees and hills he found himself surrounded by.
"Of course!" Draelynn told Shelliva, following her into the leaning little hut.

(For description of the inside please look at the office description in Shellivia's grove board)
Inside was warm and from the fire place a few Ashwinders were slithering about in the little confined area. Shellivia walked past this and picked up the little pot of hot water that was bubbling next the the fire. Getting some cups down from a shelf she put rummaged around until she found some teas leaves and poured two cups setting them both down on the desk. She motioned to one of the chairs at the desk before resting herself down on a giant pillow that was on the otehr side. She sniffed experimentally at the cup before she spoke. "I know you are eager to get out and explore on your won, so I'll stay out of your way. But I will ask you not to go to far west; the bog will be a good landmark, since the centaurs live past there. Also if you find any massive amounts of spiderweb, please backtrack and go the other way with extreme caution, some Acromantual are still in the area and they will attack from above when you are looking else where. Asides from that just be well armed and very vigilant." She took a sip of the brew and smiled gently. she waved her wand and a small vial of honey floated down from a shelf and landed on the table near Drealynn. "There is something else though that is very personal to me that I wish to discuss with you." She looked a bit more serious and set down the cup. "Because I am, unsuited for a life inside the castle, I have been prmitted to make my home here on the grounds. This little hut," she waves her hand to the house surounding her, " is a more pratical place to store paper and rasise some of the more sensative creatures; but my true home is in the forest. I have created a little haven for myself here by the lake. It the first part of the forest here nearby and is, I woud say, extending from the lake about 500-600 feet and is about 1000ft deep into the woods. I;ve made a home for many of my creatures in there as well and it is quite special to me." She looks Drealynn right in his eyes. "I am going to ask that you stay out of that part of the woods. They are to me what the etachers private quaters are to them. It's all clearly marked off with white stones all around the boarder of it, but some of them arent very large so you may have to keep your eyes open to see them." her voice is calm and is neither agressive or defensive, but it has an air of gravity to it. She droped her eyes back down to her tea cup and swirled it around a bit. "Other than that, I only ask that you dont chase my students out of the woods while I'm holding class in there. Thats where most of the classes are held, in a small clearing inside my grove; so students are allowed in there during classes. Mind you, you have my full permission to chase them out if they go wandering in any other time." She laughed a bit at this, it was a pleasent sound, a chose between a horse's nicker and a giggle.

Draelynn helped himself to tea, adding a touch of honey, listening to all that Shelliva had to say. He met her gaze when she asked-no, requested-him to stay out of her home. For that's what it was, for all that she had this little hut. He understood that. He had had his own personal place in the woods by his old home. He sighed, remembering it, then brought himself back. "Of course. I wouldn't dream of violating anyplace you call your own. I shall keep my eyes out for the stones you speak of, and I'll try not to chase the students out. And I'll make sure I keep my wand ready and my wits about me." Draelynn assured her. For all that he seemed like a dreamer, he was smart enough to pay attention while in the woods, both because there were things to miss if you weren't watching, and because you could be in danger at any time.

Shellivia smiled and nodded glad he understood. "Well then, that is settled. I'm glad you understnad. I often have some vistiors here and they tend to want to go unbothered. A pair of unicorns in particular like to vist some times at night. I'll ask them if they wouldnt mind a vist from you, but they are very shy creatures." Draining her cup she shook herself a bit. "Well that is all I really needed to speak to you about. I can arrange a visit with the centaurs any day you are free, but keep in mind it's quite a trek and they are most active at night. You simply have to let me know when you are free and I'll take you there." Getting up she picked up her empty cup and sliped through a break in the screen into a bucket of what sounded like water. A few birds were heard squawking and some random animals calls and grunts were filling the air until she pulled her hand back and they all fell quiet. Looking abck to Drealynn she smiled again though in a cryptic way. "These grounds may seem large, but I'm sure we'll have to learn not to step on each other's hooves for the first bit. But please, don't hesitate to come down for some tea or simply to chat. It's always nice to have visitors." A mischevious hint entered her lips. "And to swap stories about what those dasturdly children do! You'd best gaurd that Willow with your life; those kids seem to want to leave this world at the ends of it's branches..."
