Arcturus made his way through the Hogwarts hallways. There were no early classes anywhere near his route, so he was blissfully untroubled. As he walked, he practiced some charms in blatant disregard of the "No magic in the halls" rule. Arcturus didn't really care about rules that, as far as he was concerned, were wrong. He understood why the rule was made, and it had nothing to do with a lone student practicing his Banishing Charm for psychotherapy. He was getting really good at it. If he got good enough at it, he would be able to practice his Shield Charm by Timed Banishing. He looked forward to that. he wanted to make Nick proud.
Nick. There was another of his psychoanalytic problems. It sure seemed to him like Nick had been hit pretty hard by the attack of the monsters, and especially his wife getting hurt. Which was fairly natural, he mused. He had seen Nick talking to a Slytherin he recognized as Donall Kennedy, who had a duel with someone from his own house, apparently over bullying. Apparently, he was getting less Slytherin-ish. Nick had appeared to be speaking harshly to him. Arcturus hadn't been able to hear what they were saying, but he had seen Donall's face fall piteously. Arcturus really felt sorry for him, but he didn't think he was going to tell Donall. Somehow, the pity of a third-year didn't sound like it would be appealing to a sixth-year Slytherin. But Arcturus really looked up to Nick, he was always in control, always knew what to do, but still always human. Now he'd lost it when everyone needed him. Arcturus was maybe being a little harsh, but therapy was where you just cleared the air.
He kept walking, still musing. These quiet hallways really helped to sooth his troubled soul. His thoughts still roiled wildly. He needed more exploration time.

Willem had followed Arcturus through lots of halls and he was just about to go back to the common room when he saw Arcturus cast a few charms. He is pretty darn good! A little thought popped into Willem's head. He chuckled slightly then stopped himself. Willem pulled out his wand and aimed it at Arcturus' foot, then whispered "Tepitia." It hit the floor a little way behind Arcturus' feet so Willem said again "Tepitia." This time it hit his target: Arcturus' left sock. Willem immediately slipped back into the shadows, trying to muffle his laughter, and stood very still.

Arcturus was thinking about those monstrous creatures who had come out of nowhere to attack Hogwarts. Arcturus wanted to find out what the heck these creatures were. He also really wanted to visit the people in the Hospital wing, but since he didn't know any of them real well, it would be a little awkward. He also kind of wanted to talk to Nick, but he didn't know if he'd be able to bring himself to actually do it.
He had just made up his mind to visit the library when he was thrown violently from his reverie. His left foot alarmingly warmed up. This was very odd, as his feet until now were one of the main players in his ordeal. He had been trying to ignore them as he mused. It was good for his soul . . . or something. But now his left foot, and only his left foot, was warm. And this was 7 in the morning, in a drafty castle, with stone floors, and all he had on were some socks. This suggested magic.
He suspected a ghost, in which case it would probably be some harmless trick, except that ghosts couldn't do magic. So maybe someone was following him . . . or something. However, this gave him a good opportunity to practice a spell that he wanted to get better at. He closed his eyes, passed his wand in front of his face, and said "Magus Revelio."
((Note: This is a spell I made up. Maybe a professor could look over it and tell me if this is OK.))
He opened his eyes. He could see a lot of very very faint different colored lines or auras that indicated where spells had been cast. The vast amount of these were more than 2 hours ago (2 hours was as far back as he could go) and so were indistinct hazy masses of unidentifiable colors. Utterly useless.
However, there were three places that occurred under 2 hours ago, and so were decipherable. He had read about this spell in a book, and only knew a few things about it, but it seemed very powerful to him. There was a blue line that he knew was generated by himself instinctively. Apparently, you could always tell which spells were yours. It was a blue line, which led to a blue aura, which moved in a cloud across to a small pebble that had somehow gotten into the castle. One of his many Timed Banishing Charms.
Then there were two speckled red-and-blue lines, one of which ended in the floor, the other of which ended in an aura where he was sure his foot had been. Both of these spells had started right at the corner of the hall behind him. Clearly, someone had fired the Warming Spell and pulled their head back out of sight.
"Who's there?" he called, wand ready. After Tuesday's dinner, he was a wee bit paranoid.

Willem let out a little snort as if trying to keep from laughing then ran out of his hiding place screaming, "DIE" and yelling other battle cry-like things and then barreled into Arcturus.

Arcturus was in his "ready" stance from DADA. As soon as the first-year barreled around the corner, Arcturus stiffened and out of pure reflex he yelled "STUPEFY!!!"
The person who had attacked him hit him on his way to the floor. It was a first-year by the looks of him. Arcturus was unsure of what he had been doing, but he suspected he wasn't in command of his senses. He had attacked him with a Warming Charm, possibly the most damaging spell in his minuscule arsenal, then when found out he had attacked his "prey." Possibly those creatures had the ability to control minds, or there was some sort of zombie outbreak going around. That was exactly what this school didn't need.
Either way, this person needed to go to the Hospital Wing. This was a worrying development.
It occurred to him that possibly this person was just having a laugh, but then what would he be doing up this early? The way he looked at it, something had to be up. He whispered "Mobilicorpus." and they headed off to the Hospital Wing.

Something quickly wheeled around one of the intersections, floating above the ground on the broom.
He was another shirt and coat since the previous night, but that was all that was changed; his pants were still matted with dry blood and crusted food. He looked horribly worried and terrified at the same time, his good hand reaching for his wand but not drawing it.
"Everything alright here? What in the Nine Hells do ye think ye're doin' out of yer Common Rooms? The to two of ye? Ye want ter get yerselves torn to wee bits?" he said angrily as he flew towards them. He looked to the younger student and paled. "Please tell me he didn't get attacked by one of those....one of those...things. He alright? What happened?"
Aesir clutched the broom with his good hand now, white knuckled. His other arm was tucked into his body some as though still in some pain. His good looks were marred by a slight scar above his eyebrow and the black eye he'd received from his crash landing.
His injured hand seemed to be trembling slightly as his eyes flitted to every possible place something could leap out of to attack them.

Arcturus cocked his head to the side as he stared at Aesir. He vaguely knew the Flying Professor, and thought he was cool, but this was a new experience. Aesir looked pretty bad. After staring concernedly at Aesir for a couple more seconds, he shook his head and finally answered.
"I don't think he's been attacked. He used magic on me then ran out of nowhere yelling. I stupefied him. I don't really know what he was doing. I'm going to take him to the Hospital Wing to find out what's wrong with him.
Personally, I was out because of the attacks yesterday. I needed to think. I think better alone. And freezing my butt off. That helps."
The corner of his mouth twitched up. Yup, that was Arcturus. Monster robot dinosaurs could be taking over the world, and he'd still crack a Godzilla joke.

Aesir looked between the two students in a surprised and angry manner. His mouth was slightly agape at the incredulity of it all.
"You were out because...this early in the morning? Do ye think that them ministry workers have ahd the time to search all the castle grounds yet if there are these things? Did ye stop ter think for a moment that if ye got caught by one, or more or something even stronger than those things ye'd be totally f'ing screwed!?" Aesir began, getting more and more angry as he went on. He started off at regular conversation level and slowly began to rise in volume as he progressively became more livid than scared. "So ye decided ter sneak out and take a gentle morning stroll in a monster infested castle after people nearly died because of them? Are ye daft? Retarded!?"
Not much better yerself. Yer on patrol duty and yer a squib.
I can...fly away if I have too...
Sissy. His glare turned to the first year. He'd seen him in class before. Occassionally did something silly but was usually well behaved.
Usually.
"And you. You know there's no using magic in the halls. And was that ye screaming like a banshee a few moments ago? Running down the hall? God, I aught ter dip ye in friggin barbeque sauce and hang ye out ter try while I ring a bell till those things come ter feast on ye! Ye might as well kill him and yerself now and save yerselves the pain of being torn ter wee shreds! What the hell were the two of ye thinkin'!? And why are ye just standin' there! Keep movin'!"
Aesir moved in behind them and began to herd them towards the Hospital Wing, cursing under his breath and looking over his shoulder every few moments.

Arcturus was totally unfazed. He'd been attacked by monsters the night before, so Aesir wasn't about to scare him. However, he clearly wasn't totally in possession of his senses as he was attempting to talk to an unconscious child.
But still, Aesir was wrong and one of Arcturus' fatal failings was that he would never ever be able to stop himself from correcting someone.
"Do you really think there are monsters roaming the Halls? Are you mad? You think I'll just kind of turn the corner and run into one? Apologize, pick up his books, be embarrassed, then he can rip me to shreds?
We got attacked by monsters, but it's dumb to hide in our Common Rooms and cower. That's pitiful. If I ran into a monster, it could probably kill me, but I'd have a chance of getting away. Besides, there's no evidence there are even anymore left. I'm not going to let fear paralyze me!"
Arcturus spoke proudly. He truly wasn't afraid. Much like his mother kept warning him to wear pads on his broom, he simply noticed the fact that he had only had mild crashes that had not hurt him at all. He therefore point-blank refused to wear them, because they irritated him. He didn't think there was a danger in Hogwarts anymore, and he did need to think.
Nevertheless, he obeyed Aesir and continued walking towards the Hospital Wing, levitating Willem's unconscious body in front of him.

Aesir's scowl grew dark as his gaze narrowed to the young man. His face almost went the color of his hair as he ground his teeth. He gave Arcturus a sharp and hard two fingered jab to the shoulder.
"Do I think...Yes! I bloody do! Now I'm not gonna have some prepubescent twit tell me that he's got the nuts ter wander these halls on his bloody own. I spent the entire evening in the med hall, spent a good few hours in absolute terror, bleedin' me life's blood thinkin' I was gonna die!!! Fine, ye can be brave little boy, be as brave as ye want! But being brave ain't gonna stop them from eaten ye alive, or havin' the Ministry goin' ter see yer family ter tell them ye decided ter be brave and get yerself killed! Far as I can tell, it was professor's who finished these things off, not you!" Aesir said menacingly as he then grabbed the young man by the ear and began to drag. "Now, yer coming with me ter the Hospital wing, and explain ter Zea winters why it is that House Ravenclaw has lost one hundred points."

Aesir's overreaction rather surprised Arcturus and started to anger him. He pulled away from Aesir's hold, catching Willem's body with his wand before it hit the floor. He took a deep breath before answering Aesir to avoid losing his temper.
"Look, I'm not going looking for the monsters, I'm not arguing with the fact that a monster would probably rip me to shreds, I'm just going for a walk because I'm kind of . . . shaken up by the attack last night.
I have no idea what this kid was doing out, but I'm already taking him to the Hospital Wing. It's not like there's a rule against walking in the halls at 7 in the morning. I don't think it's really fair to take off points for that."
Arcturus felt like he was in the right and Aesir was wrong. Problem was, Aesir was clearly a bit . . . er . . . emotional about his, and had the power to do whatever he wanted. Which always made Arcturus mad. He hated it when he would be arguing with his parents, feel he was right, and have his parents just ignore his arguments. He really REALLY hoped Aesir would listen to reason.
And he also didn't want to face the rest of Ravenclaw if Aesir took off a hundred points.
((Note: The curfew rule isn't applied until today or tomorrow or something, and even if it's already in use, Arcturus doesn't know about it.))

"Yeah, well ye left yer room just lookin' ter clear yer head, right? Didn't think ye'd run into any troubles? Or monsters? Well guess what- you just did. Just because you think it's unlikely doen't rule it out from actually happenin'. I thought Ravenclaws were supposed to be smart and rely on fact instead of chance alone. There is no rule for walking out this early in the mornin', but I just thought ye'd have the brains to stay in yer Common Room until an adult came in to say that the children were allowed to go out and play. Far as I can tell, this one probably followed you out. Now if I hear you say one more thing against me, so help me God, I don't know what I'll do next but yer not gonna like it." he continued with the same fuming anger.
This brat thought he had it all figured out. He thought he was tough, that he would be safe.
This kid would get torn to pieces and he doesn't even seem to be worried or contemplating the consequences. He's probably got a family, a family that cares about him... Lucky him.
Yer just jealous. It's nice havin' folks who care for ye.
It's true. Although, yer brother was always worth my respect.
He looked back to Arcturus.
"Now move."

Arcturus glared at Aesir. He had his retort all planned out, too. He knew what he was going to say, but decided he now had a chance of NOT losing his house a lot of points, and telling Aesir exactly how he was wrong probably wouldn't help. So, fuming almost as much as Aesir next to him, he continued on to the Hospital Wing.
The only calm one was Willem, and that was because he was unconscious.
((Should we start a new thread in the Hospital Wing? Is anything already happening there? I think the Wesker's might be in there now, because Arcturus just came from letting them in. That would tie in nicely. You want to post first?))

[Start a new thread, doesn't have to be the Wesker's one. Time is getting a little fudged here. Also, I'm sure that Willem would like to wake up.]
