Stevie quickly tossed a snowball when he got hit, but it missed, and he ended up getting hit. Stevie kept running, until he reached his hand out on a tree, and spun. Letting go, he did something he didn't anticipate. He kept spinning. At a high speed.
Eventually getting his composure back, he reached down for a snowball, but fell over. Balling another, and combining it with the previous one, he launched it at the fort. Shaking his head slightly, he got up and walked toward the base, slowly, looking like he was drunk.

Kel, laying in the snow, had seen Arcturus' crazy run-and-explode thing, and was trying to figure out where he had gone. Then it hit her, and she sprinted down the hill after the slightly staggering Stevie, seeing Fay emerge from the castle and join Arcturus in their fort!
She joined up with Stevie near the bottom of the hill and tugged him down behind a snow drift before Fay or Arcturus could see them. "We have the high ground now," she whispered. "What should we do with it?" she asked, still whispering, and stole a look over the fluffy snow of their hiding place at the rock and walls that used to be their stronghold.

Stevie was attempting to regain balance, but was soon pulled down to the ground.
"Wha...?" He said, the world spinning, prone.
"I guess we could wait here and get as many snowballs as possible, so when hey charge we could just bombard 'em...?" He whispered

Kel thought this over.
"Sounds good. Let's get higher up, though. C'mon." She crawled slowly back up the hill, a snowball in hand just in case either of the older students took a shot at her. She finally stopped at the crown of the small hill and pushed a hill of snow in front of her, a preliminary fort, for now.

Arcturus jumped as Fay appeared beside him. He almost threw a snowball at her, just instinctively, but when he realized she was on his side, he restrained himself.
"Actually, there is something for you to do. What I'm worried is that they pull the same trick I did, and roll a giant snowball at us. However, he lectured, learning her on the finer dynamics of snowball fights. "because of this here igneous beauty . . . he tapped the rock in question. The one that was the cornerstone of the firstie's little fort. "I think the fort could withstand it. But, it'll need some reinforcement. I need you to build up defenses on the two sides not protected by the rock. In the meantime, I'll make snowballs for when they attack."
He busied himself with his work, glancing sidelong at Fay as he did.
Think she'll be any good at real snowball fighting?
Nah, she's too pretty.
So? What does that have to do with it? She could be pretty AND an excellent snowball fighter.
Yeah, but it wouldn't be fair to give that to one person. It would like . . . upset the balance of the Earth or something.
That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
You know what? Just shut up and make snowballs!
You shut up and make snowballs!
You shut . . .
Both of you SHUT UP!! Just concentrate on the snowball fight!

Fay did as she was told and began gathering the necessary snow for the building up of the wall's defenses.
She worked hard and concentrated deeply, hoping her labor would be fruitful. All those years of fort building with her father at their French cottage would definitely come in handy now.
Pleased with her work, she turned to Arcturus, and called him over to see. "Oi, Arcturus, take a looksie. This alright?"
{I have no idea how to fortify a wall, but Fayette does. So... imagine she did whatever she was supposed to do.}

((Basically just jam more snow on it, only you know . . . in a fortifying way))
Arcturus cast a critical eye over her work. It was entirely satisfactory.
"Poifect!"
"Now, here's how this is going to work!" he said, clapping his hands together in preparation for another lecture on snowball fighting. "These snowballs," he said, pointing at the cache of snowballs he had constructed and placed in a niche in the wall, "Are to be used only if they charge us in full force or for an emergency. You should also be continuously throwing snowballs at them firsties as long as they're in range. Those snowballs should be obtained from the plentiful mounds of snow all around us. Get it? Good!"
He then quickly stood up and whistled off a snowball at the firsties, now cowering behind an entirely insufficient snow mound.

Fay nodded happily in understanding. She wouldn't touch those snowballs unless absolutely necessary.
"Yessir!" she said with a laugh, and then folowed his example and threw a sowball at the first year students hidden behind their mound of snow.

Stevie crawled after Kel, gathering snow as he did. He soon started to make snowballs at a fast pace, most holding together. He was still kind of dizzy, so a few came out looking like things you would normally see in abstract paintings, without the color.

Kel noticed the more frequent snowballs now arriving from the older students' fort, but mostly ignored them, except when they came close enough to hit her. She glanced once or twice over to Stevie's progress, which was okay, even if some of his snowballs looked. . . odd. I mean, they were just going to throw them at people, so who cared how they looked?
Kel continued work on their walls, building them up higher and thicker, in anticipation of a charge or other offensive attack. 'How redundant.' she thought of this last comment.

Arcturus took advantage of the lack of enemy fire to move slightly outside their fort to a perfect position to fire at the Gryffindor firstie, who appeared to be making snowballs. He took the proper stance, and whizzed his snowball off. The firstie, who appeared a bit confused, took it right in the center of the chest. Whooping triumphantly, Arcturus ran back to the fort, in case the firsties decided to fire back.

Hearing an odd kind of 'whoomph' sound, Kel turned to Stevie to ask him what was going on, hearing a sort of war whoop sound as she did so. She sighted Arcturus, sprinting back to his base, hollering as he did so. Kel automatically loosed a snowball at the back of his fiery red head and saw it splatter onto his ridiculous hair. She grabbed another one and shot it toward the rock where she knew Fay still was, making sure she could not give any help to the Scot, then quickly formed another ball out of the snow around her.

Arcturus grinned loudly in the base. Kel had managed to nick him upside the head as he dove back into the fort, but a little snow in his hair was so worth seeing the Gryffie firstie walloped in the stomach with his snowball.
"What's our next plan?" he whispered to Fay. It occurred to him to wonder why he was whispering when the firsties were crouching behind a snow mound 25 feet away. He decided that it was professional. And cool. Despite the fact that it didn't actually make any sense.

Stevie didn't know it until a bit later, and boom, there was a snowball on his chest. He blinked, then shrugged. Simply wiping the snow off, he forgot he was in war mode. He quickly leapt behind a very small mound of snow, and started to build it up. Stevie didn't know that this was strictly a tag team event, he thought he and Kel were working together for the time being.
Thinking better of it, he kicked down his fort, and grabbed an armful of snow, retreated against the wall of the castle, and started building up a fort from there. It quickly established big walls, so Stevie quickly started to fomr balls of snow, shifting his eyes from here to there.

Arcturus cackled as he looked for another alternative.
You know what? Stop cackling or . . .
Or what? You won't talk to me? Hee hee hee hee!!
Shaking his head, he looked around at the dense forest. A glimmer of an idea started to form in his brilliant mind. But wait . . . it would depend on how sneaky Fay was.
"Fay, I have a plan! How good are you at sneaking through the forest?"
