((You fool! I said firstie or firsties 12 times.))
Arcturus peered over the edge of his and Fay's new fort, looking for the immediate threat of the Gryffie firstie. He was nowhere to be found. As he scrutinized the forest where he suspected the firstie had disappeared to, he failed to notice the scrap of color that was Kel running into the older students old fort. He crouched back down in their fort. Fay had not moved or thrown snowballs yet, and therefore presumably had not seen anything.
"Where are they? They just disappeared . . . . They're probably cooking up some evil scheme. Man, I hate not knowing what the other side is doing!! The worst part is: I can't imagine what they could possibly do while we're holed up in here! So, until we know what they're doing, we'll just sit in here and wait."
He monologued. More to himself than to Fay. He wasn't even dead sure she was actually paying attention to him. Or even conscious. Then again, he wasn't dead sure he would be conscious were he in her place. Well, he'd be conscious. Just not paying attention.

Fay listened to what Arcturus was saying. She had seen neither Keladry nor the other first year student, and so had not thrown any snowballs yet. She nodded in agreement, and replied, "Yeah, I suppose we wait for an opening, then attack."

Arcturus waved his hands wildly.
"No no no no! We don't know where they are! We don't know what they're up to! So long as we stay in the fort, they have to come to us. They have to attack us on our ground. If we go out there, it's just us two against them two, and even though we're better than them in a knockdown drag out snowball fight, if they come with a good plan they have a chance of defeating us! If we stay in this monster fort, they can't do anything! Then, when we know where they are, we can launch an attack. But not while we don't know what's going on. And even then, it would be better if they just came to us."
Arcturus finished his long, impassioned speech on the strategy and tactics of snowball fighting. It was one of his passions, or it fell under the heading of Strategy & Tactics, which was one of his passions. Well, it fell under the heading of Historical Activities Being Applied to the Present Day, which also fell under the heading of Things He Was Passionate About, which was synonymous with Everything. He was passionate about a lot of things.

{Wow, Arky. I'm impressed. That was extreme.}
Kel sat quietly in her fort, occasionally peeking out into the world. She was getting bored waiting for Stevie to show up, and was contemplating making a dash for the trees to go search for him. She stopped contemplating, looked over the walls at the fort atop the hill, then made a mad dash for the closest area of the scrubby forest, heading for the thicker evergreens, scooping up a handful of snow for a snowball as she sprinted.

Arcturus peered his head over the walls in time to see a sunshine-yellow scarf disappear into the trees.
Kel . . . what's she up to?
For the moment, though, there was nothing he could do, and he still felt confident that there wasn't really much she could do.
"Alright," he whispered to Fay, "Kel's down at the bottom of the hill, but she just went into the trees. The Gryffie's been gone for a while. I think it's safe to assume that he's in the trees too."

Fay's eyes widened at Arcturus' excitement over her comment. He obviously really enjoyed strategics and tactics, otherwise he wouldn't ave jumped at her statement like that.
"Sorry, Arcturus" she stammered. "I suppose I don't know these snowball fighting techniques as well as you do..."
Sounding a little more confident, she continued, "Yes, I see your point, it's best if we wait for them to come to us."
She merely nodded when he whispered about Keladry and the Gryffindor's whereabouts.

Kel stayed behind the thick evergreen trees, occasionally peering out at the hilltop fort from between the branches of the pines. She wandered a little deeper so she couldn't be spotted by the older kids, then called softly to her wayward fighting companion. "Stevie? Stevie, are you in here? If you can hear me, holler!" Kel stopped, listening to see if she could hear him yelling.

"I can't holler or else they'll know we're here" Stevie whispered loudly, from somewhere behind Keladry. He peeked out from behind his tree, and waved her over to him. He had a plan, but this was a Stevie plan. Which means, one that he would just be his hyper self and do something stupid.

Kel, hearing the whisper, spun around and hurried over to him. Wanting to know what had happened and where Fayette and Arcturus were but easily able to tell he had something up his sleeve (figuratively), she looked at him expectantly.

"Mkay. So. You're going to move quietly and quickly to the edge of the trees, try to position yourself as close to the back of their fort as possible. Now, when you're in position, gimme a thumbs-up so i know you're there. I'm gonna gather up a bunch of snowballs, and just run straight for their fort. If I can, I'll knock down the walls. While they're distracted by me, you run in from behind and hit them with as much snow as possible. Kay?" He had this planned out perfectly in his mind, now to hope it works out...

"Sounds good." Kel nodded back at him, giving him an experimental thumbs up, then rubbed her hands together and almost cackled, she was getting so hyper.
'Whoa. That was kinda weird.
But fun, you hafta admit! It's nice to cackle sometimes!'
Kel cackled for a bit, deciding she liked to do it on occasion, then grabbed another couple of handfuls of snow and set off through the trees, being careful to stay back a bit from the edge so that the watchful oldies wouldn't see anything.

{OOC: N'kay, so since none of the 'oldies' have seen me, then I'll just go:}
Kel, in position behind a large tree as close as she could get without being seen to the back of the oldies' fort, stuck her gloved hand outside the tree line and gave the spot she had last seen Stevie a nice big thumbs up. She quickly pulled her hand back, then stuck one eye around the large trunk of the. . . she looked up. . . oak tree she was concealed behind.

With a grin, Stevie started sprinting toward their fort. He hurled as many snowballs as he could, but when he ran out, he just kept running. When he got close enough, however, he dived down, forearms first, and and bowled over the walls. Only one thing could be heard from Stevie.
"That was fun."

Arcturus spotted a gloved hand sticking out of the forest behind the fort. He pointed it out to Fay quickly, before it disappeared.
Then he turned to see the Gryffie firstie charging up the hill towards their fort. He threw a snowball at him from long range, hitting him in the chest. It didn't do anything. The Gryffie started firing back, but all his shots went wild for now. Arcturus stayed crouched well down behind his fort. It would take a really good shot to hit him, and he could fire back with impunity. He pounded the firstie as he continued his maniacal charge. None of his adversary's snowballs found their mark, but all of Arcturus' did. Still, his enemy wouldn't start. He threw one more snowball while trying to figure out what he was doing.
Then it clicked. He was distracting them, and trying to take out their fort. He turned to Fay and whispered: "Kel is probably going to attack from behind. Stay ready."
Then he threw one more snowball and hit the firstie squarely in the neck, right before the firstie dived directly into the wall of their fort.

Kel, seeing Stevie charge, ran as silently as she could up the hill, tossing a few snowballs over the walls when she got close enough. When Stevie dove into their old fort, she figured the oldies'd be too busy with hand-to-hand combat to see her, so she grabbed more snow and hurried up to the fort, hiding outside where the wall of snow met the stone of Hogwarts.
