[ooc:I'm assuming this thread is open. If not then please do ignore/delete this post.]
"It is..." Orynn said in a very deep and rigid tone, from apparently out fo nowhere. He stood, leaning on his cane, in the room's threshold; the door having been left open. He walked into the room, closer to the two staff as he continued speaking. Staring into the eyes of the red-head.
"...the province of knowledge to speak, and it is the province of wisdom; to listen." With a final 'tunk' of his cane hitting the ground, Orynn had stopped roughly two feet away from the Scotsman. "As you show no capacity of either, Mr. Macleod, on the matter of Wizard-dueling, I'd suggest you become mute on the subject. You wouldn't want to give the impression that you are learned in the topic, which you clearly; are not."
Orynn's gaze then moved over to Althea, he gave her a nod out of respect before addressing her. "Doctor, you asked to see me? I gather you simply wanted to take a look at my leg, see if it's improved any?"

Orynn blinked once, then twice. He'd heard the doctor, but his attention was clearly divided. He nodded.
"Very well." He said, agreeing with her. He would never consider crutches, but he did know of a shop in Diagon Alley that sold canes. He'd have to ask for a day off to visit the store. It would be even more convenient if he could find a cane that would hold his wand.

Orynn nodded wordlessly and made no movement to obstruct whatever it was Althea needed his cooperation on. He was already laying down, but he did not look at the doctor. He appreciated her gesture to ensure his privacy, though it would not take Merlin to know that there were other motives.

There was something hidden in his eyes when Orynn looked up from his medical bed into the eyes of his superior. Something well hidden indeed, beneath piles and piles of rubbish that made his face stone cold and his eyes unyielding of emotion. Yet still, it was there. Despite all efforts to keep it secret, a flash of it was seen through his eyes before he spoke.
"Yes Headmistress, do what you will." He nodded to her in stiff thanks. He then lay down on his back, lying on top of the sheets and covers. He stared up at the ceiling and rested both his hands on the center point of his chest. Every so often he blinked, and for a long time that was they only movement his body made. The pain in his leg had subsided now, for good it seemed. That was a good sign.

Just as Elsbeth suspected, Orynn did not take well to being aided. His cold demeanor had returned again, and his stone-like expressions returned. They faltered slightly, as Orynn tried to walk or hop he found that they pain in his leg had returned. Yet, he was fairly certain he had a firm hold on his solid human form. So he wasn't worried of any body parts evaporating.
Orynn could've made it to the bed in question. But he didn't want to hop all the way there like an idiot. He looked back to the Headmistress, silently asking her if her offer still stood. Extending his arm out to be supported.

When the tears began to flow from his colleague, Orynn made no reaction. He instead crossed his arms, and gave no indication that he was listening to the man's verbal attempt at abuse. He could've been trying to dig a tunnel through concrete with a toothbrush, Orynn made no reaction.
Every mountain falls eventually though. Orynn felt the breath escape his lungs as his chest seized. It was a if he'd been hit with a swinging canon ball. He barred his teeth, and a fire was lit in his eyes. His knees bent down and it looked like he was going to jump on Nicholas. His hand whipped out to his side and his wand flew out into his awaiting fingers.
The moment the all too familiar wood reach his hands, Orynn's fury melted away. His stance changed, as he became calmer. Now a different expression was on his face, and it balanced the edge between horror and disbelief. He looked down to his wand sitting silently in his hand. In fact everything had gone silent. Nicholas's coughs were not heard, as the entire world had gone deaf to the Deputy. There was only him, and his wand... his magic.
A monster? No! It... it's simply not true! He thought to himself. His face now relaxed, as did the rest of his body. He looked back up to where Nicholas had been standing, a look on his face that was silently pleading for answers. When Orynn saw nothing but the Knight's back, his face then twisted as if he had a foul taste in his mouth.
He sat back down on his medical bed, dropping his wand on the side table. He stared at his magical tool intently, but with a look of defeat on his face. As if he was maybe lost, but was unsure of if he was really lost at all. If so, how did he get here? If not, then where was he going? He whispered to himself so only he could hear. As if, maybe, saying it aloud would banish the fears back to where they came from.
"Have I... really lost control?"
But the fears still lingered.

From Orynn's point of view, it was all as if a really poor play were taking place. The type of thing you couldn't eat popcorn to, no matter how hard you tried.
Orynn had all but completely recovered from his wound, but time would tell whether he'd be a hundred percent. For now, he had present matters to attend to.
He resisted numerous bodily functions during the speeches, and out bursts from all parties: Rolling his eyes, making the sounds associated with stifling a laugh, to waving his hand in irritation as a way of saying 'be gone.' Nope, Orynn just sat still and didn't make a sound. His gaze was downwards, and his eyes were closed as if he was in some sort of mock meditation. It was only after the Knight's last words that Orynn made his presence known again.
"Hmph." By doing so, he probably had all eyes on him now. Orynn own gaze finally lifted, his eyes opening as well. He did not smile, at least not with his lips, but his eyes gave him away as someone who was probably enjoying this more than he should in some twisted manner.
"Before we proceed, let's not leave the Headmistress in the dark any longer." Some may have expected him to ask permission from other parties, but Orynn did not such think. He looked to Elsbeth, his superior, and began his story telling.
"I did not seek work after my last year at Hogwarts. I traveled to many places to further my knowledge and hone my skills in the Magical Arts. Specialized studies, but I won't go into details.
"Michael Winslow was the Professor of Defence Against the Dark Arts of the time, and I was one of his favored pupils. He got into contact with me, and requested I pay a visit to his seventh year class for a... demonstration of sorts.
"He knew that I had invested much time in magical ways, and had learned a few new tricks. The purpose of the visit was to show the students that an opponent may have a much more sophisticated, and larger, spell inventory than you do. An advantage, to put it blatantly.
"I agreed to Michael's request. I arrived at Hogwarts and was faced with his oldest students, not the least of which were the two you see before you now." He waved his arm out, without looking, towards the couple who stood close together now. He paused and then continued.
"Michael chose a former student, myself, because I believe he felt that his students would be inspired more. Dueling with an adult, or a Professor no less, would be awkward for a student. He and a I also agreed that if it had been a much older witch or wizard, the students would no doubt expect to lose, or worse; grant them a victory not earned."
"When Nicholas--" Orynn suddenly stopped in mid breath. His head slowly turned to Althea, and he couldn't help but chuckled. He then looked back up to the Headmistress.
"My apologies, I'm jumping ahead of myself."
"By that time, I had become a master mind-reader. So, upon Miss Heilmann, at the time, I casted the Legilimens spell." Orynn took another moment now. He looked like he was selecting his words carefully. His face softened ever so slightly, but he didn't ever look at Althea or Nicholas. The story was being told to the one who didn't already know it, after all. He inhaled deeply, and continued;
"That day, some students were humbled by their defeats. They discovered then and there that there was much they still could learn that no school could ever offer them. Most were embarrassed, and others took the experience a bit more to heart." Orynn finally looked over to the Medical Witch. He stared at her dead in the eye, almost as if he knew that if he didn't hold on tightly, he'd let himself let go. He needed to do this.
"I do admit the wrong that I had done unto you that day. I shouldn't have reveled the way I did, after.. what I did. This doesn't come easily to me..." He gulped silently. "I apologize, and can only hope that the experience has only helped you become who you are today. A respectful witch, and perhaps a good person as well."
It was clear that Orynn was... struggling. Not that it was evident through stuttering or quickened speech, but he seemed unfamiliar. Almost as if it was the first, and last time, he'd ever apologize to anybody for his actions.
All of this quickly melted away as his gaze was cast upon Nicholas. His facial features hardened, as if frozen. His jaw tightened and his eyes glared at the Knight.
"Perhaps Sir Nicholas would like to recount the rest of the tale. But before you do let me say this."
Orynn stood up from his medical bed, and stood at his full height. The dull pain returned to his leg, but he ignored it. It only felt like he had been sitting on it, pins and needles kind of feeling. Orynn did not speak loudly, but he was stern and serious. He looked like a viper ready to strike.
"Do NOT speak to me about maturity, for I have embraced the gift given to me and do not swing a barbarous toy around spewing romantic notions of honor. Your outstanding moral fiber has no place in a duel, and is neither appreciated nor required. You may have offered aid, but I did not ask for it, nor did I need it. Do not blame your lack of performance today, on the dream of a notion that I needed your help."
He sat back down, the pain coming back to his leg with slightly more intensity. He then looked up to Elsbeth, and then back to Nicholas. "And do not raise your voice against the Headmistress again." Orynn meant it, more than anything else he had just said.

It was as if he and she were on opposite ends, they could easily ignore one other, or they could help each other. Orynn stared at the doctor, and gave a deep sigh of relief when he felt the pain subside in his leg. he closed his eyes, cocked his head and was visibly straining. He reached out and grabbed the strings of his physical being, sewing them together from their tangled mess.
The smoke that had been the lower part of his leg coalesced nicely, and reformed (once more) in a solid leg. Orynn laid back on the medical bed. He looked to her, and there was an obvious attempt to convey gratitude and thanks. Perhaps for her patience, perhaps for her objectivity in her profession, perhaps for all of the above. What ever it was for, it didn't seem to lessen when he denied her pleas.
"It is a complex form of Human Transfiguration Madame, but that's all I will tell you. I've regained control, and all I need now is some rest." He then looked up to the Headmistress. Considering his actions from before, at the duel, he knew d*mn well Elsbeth would not allow him a single wink of rest before she chewed him out.

Orynn was placed on one of the Medical beds, and he still seethed in pain whenever his leg reformed into flesh. He hated this, this attention he was getting... he'd rather face five dragons than have the eyes of his colleagues buried into him.
He looked up at the Headmistress, his jaw still clenched and his face defined with cold lines of heartless rage. But his pale gray eyes pleaded with her to understand what he wanted to convey. Tell them to leave, tell those who need not remain here to leave. Dismiss them!
Althea's voice brought him back to his current state. He looked down at her hands which held his calf, or at least they were when there was something solid there to hold. He shook his head no in response to her question. Orynn had done nothing different.
"If I were to guess, I would have to say it's me. The pain, it's distracting my focus. In time, if it subsides, I may be able to get a grip of myself again. I can't say that for certain though." Part of Orynn thought that a learned Medi-Witch should know that, but Orynn knew that that was ridiculous. Someone would have to specialize in his sort of Transfiguration, and as far as he knew, Orynn was the only wizard alive who could do it.

Orynn, hands still on his leg, made audible noises of frustration every time his lower leg would dissipate only to reform moments later. He caught the eye of a Slytherin student who had lingered behind. Apparently, none of the other Staff members had noticed him.
"You are dismissed Mister Kennedy!" He shouted so that he could be heard, and his tone was very serious. Still, there was a look in his eye that said he would speak to him later.
Orynn returned to his present company, seething in pain. He had gathered now, that he was only in pain when his leg was whole, not when it was a billow of smoke. He propped himself with one of his arms, and looked at Althea. He looked like he might bite her, but the frustration and hate was aimed at himself. How had he allowed this to happen? They were all looking at him now, in his state of shame and feebleness.
Orynn tried to reach out with his inner power, grasp hold of his leg and hold it still in one state. But it slipped from him and he halted himself from gasping in pain. He winced as he would not allow the others the satisfaction of hearing him wail. Through gritted teeth he said;
"Let him do what he will." Referring to Nicholas and his desire to aid.

The words and highly enraged voices around him were not heard. Nicholas and Orynn held their gaze firmly, Orynn could feel the skin on his neck become irritated and itchy, but not pierced in the slightest. When the sword was retracted, Orynn did the same with his wand, hidding it away in his robes. It was when Nicholas finally looked away, and when the Headmistress dismissed the students that Orynn couldn't hide his own wound anymore.
Orynn's left leg, from the knee down, had suddenly turned to smoke and it caused the deputy to fall over due to lack of support holding up his body. When he landed, his leg reverted back on it's own, and Orynn was clutching it hard. He sat up on the floor, barring his teeth together as to not let out a cry of pain. His leg, again from the knee down only, turned back into smoke; his hands passing right through it. His expression was one of disbelief and awe, as he raised up his hands to look at them.
The smoke came back together to reform his limb, and again Orynn seemed to be overtaken with his own stubborn will not to show pain. Even though it was plainly obvious something was wrong, something the Deputy would never admit, but something was definitely wrong.

Orynn looked at Nicholas venomously, and his wand quickly darted upwards towards the man.
“Duro!”
The silver stream hit the Knight-Wizard at point-blank range. The sound of crackling resounded through the Great Hall to everyone’s amazement as Nicholas’ breastplate turned to solid stone. Nicholas felt the weight of it immediately as he stumbled back from the blast, and Orynn snatched the opportunity to distance himself from the knight.
He thrust his arms out wide, his inky cloak spreading outwards and upwards until they transformed themselves into a pair of black feathered wings. With one strong flap of the transfigured wings, Orynn flew back a good twenty feet before he landed on the ground with a limp. The wings quickly transformed back into the cloak as Orynn waved his arms in the air, muttering something in a strange language under his breath. For a moment nothing happened, until the pools of water on the ground began to separate. Beads of water the size of snitches formed, and levitated off the ground. With his arms raised on either side of his body, he glared at Nicholas with sheer anger. The beads of water soon glazed over as they were transformed into balls of glass.

Orynn had vanished in the blink of an eye, and Nicholas bolted right past where his opponent had been. He skidded to a halt several feet away, scanning the Hall quickly for his adversary.
“Depulso!” shouted Orynn’s disembodied voice.
Nicholas looked as if he had been shoved from behind by a giant fist as he spun in the air. He hit the floor and swiftly regained his stance, glancing around wildly, trying to locate the voice. His Shield Charm hummed an inch from his face.
The second after the shield faded, a voice was heard near the front doors to the Great Hall behind him, “Petrificus Totalus!”
With incredible fluidity, Nicholas slashed aside the oncoming purple ray of magic with his sword. The spell refracted, hitting the Hall’s floor and the magical barrier, dissipating with no effect. The room was quiet again.
“Petrificus Totalus!”
Nicholas repeated the same move with his weapon, and at the same time moved in the direction of the voice. There was the very faint sound of footsteps, and Nicholas made moves towards them. Unfortunately, they quickly stopped as soon as he moved, leaving him blind to his opponents whereabouts.
{OOC: Let it be known that Nicholas and I have agreed to 'control' each other's characters to some degree. In other words, neither of us are god modding due to a mutual agreement. Thanks, and enjoy the 'show!'}

Orynn stepped forward into the center of the Great Hall when he was cued to do so. He was not nearly as adorned as the Head of Gryffindor house.
Orynn had on a very fitted silver/gray long sleeved shirt, which allowed for fluidity in movement of his shoulder and arms. His pants were black with a gray pinstripe pattern, which opened up away at his ankles. He had a cape of sorts, which was fastened to his shirt at the top of his shoulders. It was a very light cape, which gleamed a silver color on the outside and was complimented by the dark green material on the inside. The colors clashing well with his eyes and hair. He had no earings on, but the Deputy did have on three rings, two on his left and one on his right hands. A bracelet of sorts was clasped onto his right wrist, which had black runic markings all along it.
He faced his opponent, wand up in front of his face. His face hardening like ice as Nicholas waved around his sword. He almost looked like he was shaking with fury, and he clearly wasn't paying a lot of attention to the Knight's words. When he spoke he was deathly calm, and his deep voice sounded throughout the hall.
"Do not mistake kindness for duty, Sir." Orynn said plainly. He bowed at the waist, and took steps away at the same time. Turning his body to walk to his starting position as he rose up again. Throwing his arms out to his sides as he addressed the large crowd that had formed.
"For the honor of the boy-who-lived..." Those from his house hissed and scoffed at this statement. Orynn spun around, wand at the ready, facing Nicholas. "Isn't that right? All Orynn could do now was wait. Wait for the word from the Headmistress to commence the duel. A flash of cold fire seemed to grow behind the Deputy's eyes.
