There were a few knocks on the door to the Headmistress' office, late one afternoon. Aesir stood on the other side, dressed warmer for the season; an old WW2 aviator's leather jacket, a long cream colored scarf wrapped around his neck, wool gloves with the fingertips cut off, same pants and boots as usual, goggles propped up in his red hair and a dark green hoodie with the words 'ven deadly si' visible. He cupped his hands to his mouth and blew on them to keep himself warm.
Stupid cold weather. I hate it. Hope she's got some of that hot chocolate around.

It was a chilly late October morning, and Elsbeth sat at her desk, wearing a deep purple peasant skirt, with a white shirt and black sweater. A thin purple scarf was wrapped around her neck, to match her skirt.
She was reviewing her lesson plans for her seventh year Potions class when she heard a few knocks on her office doors.
Laying down her mug of hot chocolate beside her parchments, she called out, "Come in!"

The door creaked open and Aesir's head poked in somewhat comically from the side, a wide grin spread on his face. "Hello, there. Miss me?" he asked rather positive of the answer he thought was true. He walked in completely after and closed the door behind himself. "Ye got a minute? I've got an idea ye might like, concerning the Halloween Ball that will blow everyone away. I guarantee it."
He seemed genuinely excited about whatever it was.
Been a while since I had a gig.

Elsbeth rolled her eyes as Aesir stuck his head into the office. 'Silly man...'
She ignored his first question, and went straight to answering his second one. "Sure, Aesir, come on in." She motoned to the seat opposite her own, "Have a seat."
Without waiting for him to sit down, she poured him a mug of hot chocolate; it was a chilly day and she didn't feel like being rude at the moment. She set it down in front of his seat.

Aesir silently accepted the mug with a smile and sat down. He took a sip before setting it down onto the desk and leaned forward. He spoke in a well practiced, business like pitch with a confident grin the whole time.
"Now, I know the Halloween Ball is comin' up. And I would assume since it's a ball, ye'd like some music to be played. With the schools budget mostly spent on huge amounts of tea, I would also assume that hiring a band might be a bit of a problem." he said teasingly at tat point. "In any case, I know a band. A few friends of mine from way back have a band, to which they went around Scotland with. They're rather quite good! Had wonderful reviews from some of the smaller newspapers and the pubs always liked 'em. I could probably get them to come on over here to play fer dirt cheap and it would be a blast fer the students. They mostly focus on muggle oldies and whatnot, so it'd be a learning experience too. So, whaddya think?"

Elsbeth nodded in agreement; a learning experience for the students sounded wonderful, and she had heard only good things about this Miggle Oldies thing that he was talking about. Almost like her favorite band, the Wierd Sisters, but not magical in any way.
"Sounds great, and just so you know, we don't only soend our budget on tea, there're crumpets, too!" she said, with a laugh.
"I'll leave this up to you to arrange, then. Just finalize the plans with me when you're ready."

Aesir smiled. There was something sneaky about it. "Ye won't regret it. It'll be great, I promise. And there'll even be a little surprise for everyone too. So-" he said, as he reached over the desk and gingerly picked up one of her hands in his. His head quirked to the side and his eyebrows were arched in a playful expression. "I was wonderin' if there was anywhere in particular ye'd like to go fer our date. I don't really know the area so well."
His charming smiled reappeared.
Excellent! This is going ter be fantastic! Now this day would only get better if I can crack her armor just a wee bit more. She's a real challenge this one.

Elsbeth didn't pull her hand away when Aesir touched her, as she normally would have done. She even answered his question without her usual argumentative pattern. This was merely because finding a place for their date was the easiest choice she'd have to make all year; she'd choose the one place he would absolutely hate.
She had realy only agreed to a date to shut him up, it wasn't that she was interested in him. Of course not... "Well, let's see... There's always The Hog's Head, but that's a bit dodgy if you ask me. Or there's the Three Broomsticks, but that's always crowded and full of students on Hogsmeade trips..."
She pretended to think for a moment, then blurted out, "Ah, the perfect place! Madam Puddifoot's!" He'd never know what he was getting himself into.
Smiling as sweetly as she could muster, she continued, "Thank you so much for letting me choose. What a gentleman."
Yes, he would never know what hit him.

Excellent. We have a destination! Now that she's chosen, there's no way she's gonna back out. She's commited herself to n interestin' evenin' to say the least.
He looked to her sweet smile.
Uh, MacLeod, that's not a good smile.
Why do I feel like I'm walking into a trap?
His smile remained. "Well, that sounds like a delightful place, an I look forward to it. I have another question though; how is it that the band can play if nothin' electronic works in this castle?" he asked inquisitively, not letting go of her hand.

"That's a good question, Aesir," she replied, "but it won't be a problem. Hogwarts has a store of magical instruments for just this purpose. There have been bands at Hogwarts balls in the past. They're the same thing, but run by magical energy instead of Muggle electricity."
She nodded and continued, "Yes, that takes care of that problem."
And, with that, she gently pulled her hand out of his grasp.

Aesir's devilish grin remained as he stood up. "Well, I'll be on my way then. Got me some brooms ter investigate, winter proof and some instruments ter double check. Maybe ye could show where they are sometime." he said as he began to swagger towards the door, before he left, he turned around for a second.
"Ye know, I uh, I appreciate ye lookin' passed...lookin' passed my bein' a ...well, ye know. Most witches don't really like the fact I'm...you know..."
Freak.
Abomination.
Worthless.
Pathetic.
Weak.
Useless.

"I can have the house elves fetch the instruments for you whenever you'd like"
Elsbeth's look softened as Aesir shoed some insecurities. It was shocking to see him let his gaurd down, as usually he was a cocky git.
She rose from her seat, and responded. "Think nothing of it Aesir. I'm not one to care about blood-lines or abilities. You're still a man, and that's what counts; not your magical ability or lack thereof..." She said this as she walked over to where he was standing.

He looked up briefly and saw Elsbeth approaching.
"Think nothing of it Aesir. I'm not one to care about blood-lines or abilities. You're still a man, and that's what counts; not your magical ability or lack thereof..." She said this as she walked over to where he was standing.
Take that, Dad. Take that, Erroll. Shows what you know.
"Really?" was all he answered, a little more quiet than before. He looked down to the floor a bit. "It's nice to know that." he said, letting his quota of honesty for the day end.
Now, if she could just come a little closer...
"You really think so? No jokin'?" he asked, shyly looking up from the ground then back down again.
I wonder if she'll buy it...

Elsbeth was now standing right in front of him, and gently placed a hand on his arm as reassurance. "Really, Aesir, does this look like a face that would lie to you?" she asked, half-jokingly, "I think not."

He smiled.
"So ye really do think I'm a handsome, daring, intelligent man who makes yer heart beat faster whenever I'm nearby?" he asked, his voice growing a tad more quieter as he took an ever so small small closer. Their faces were almost a good foot apart, but his brown eyes latched onto hers as he looked at her much like when he had before he had kissed her cheek on the window ledge.
"Or are ye lying and not tellin' me ye think that when I'm not around, either?"
