There's a knock on Zea's door. Aesir had finished his last day of rest and couldn't sleep. Meandering through the halls, he found his way to Zea's office.
There were a few things he wanted to say to her. Primarily thank her for the time she spent alongside him in the med bay. He remembered bits and pieces when he flitted in and out of consciousness, but he remembered her nearby, or holding his hand.
He couldn't say anyone had ever really done that for him.
Standing in his rumpled clothing, he waited and hoped she wasn't on patrol.

Zea heard a knocking on her door, and woke abruptly from where she'd fallen asleep on the chaise, curled under a woven throw, a Greek text resting on her chest. It clattered to the floor, startling her. She ran a hand through her unruly curls.
"Come in," she said. "It's not locked."

Aesir opened the door and peeked inside.
"There are scary monsters outside. Mind if I sleep in here tonight?" he asked, breaking the ice with his usual sly smile. He walked inside and closed the door behind him. "How's it goin', droolin' beauty? Readin' over your class assignments?"

Zea snickered at him.
"There are always monsters outside. Sometimes they're inside, too. But I don't think there are any here tonight."
She picked up the book, and placed it on the windowsill.
"No, no assignments. Just brushing up on some Greek text. Positively fascinating."
She tucked her legs underneath her, and patted the foot of the chaise.

Aesir, a little slower than usual, made his way to the foot of the chaise and tentatively sat down, laying a hand on her knee and gently squeezing.
"Of course. Well, never bothered looking up new or old languages. It's all Greek to me." he muttered, grinning. He looked up to Zea's unruly features and couldn't help but grin some more. "I was wonderin' if I could ask ye somethin', Zea. Appears to me ye might be the woman of my dreams."
AEsir said this with a bit of humour.
"Ye see, it might have been the pain killing magic talkin' or makin' me see things an' feel things, but I swore I saw ye quite a few times. Felt a reassurin' squeeze or whispers an such. That you? Or the really cute male nurse." he finished sarcastically.

"Well, he certainly was a real cute male nurse. Or maybe I just have a thing for blond Australians," she teased. "No, really, I stopped by a few times. I was worried about you. You seemed pretty... shaken. And I don't blame you. I didn't get hurt, and I've still had nightmares these past couple of nights. Fighting those... things, whatever they were. It wasn't easy."
She looked past her desk, into her quarters.
"I've been falling asleep on the chaise here in the office, nodding off while I'm reading. I think I've been avoiding actually going to bed to sleep. So maybe it's good you stopped by. I think waking up alone is what scared me the most. Alone, and thinking I'm being attacked."

"I know what you mean. It's not something I'd like to go through again." he responded in a small voice. "'Sides, I don't remember much after a crash landed. 'Cording to students, seemes like Lannsman fought them off pretty well, as did you. Students took to the fight but apparently you two profs were the valiant defenders of that soiree. And I think ye'd be able ter take care of some hideous cats on your own, from what I've heard. And I'm here-"
Wow. What can you do?
Get eated first or call for help.
Ever thought of running?
It crossed my mind.
Sissy.
Hey, watch it.
Alright...wuss.
Oh, that's it!
Aesir slipped a hand on her thigh, grinning. "-and it's not like things have ended disastrously when I have been around."

"Well, my first instinct is generally to run screaming. That is overridden by having other people to protect. Then the fight comes out."
She smirked.
"And what can I say? I'm a master with a whip."

Aesir quirked an eyebrow.
"Ye know, I don't know what ter say to that." he answered, smiling somewhat surprised. He stayed there a few moments in relaxed silence, simply running his hand up and down her thigh. His eyes flickered up to hers, a slightly more serious look on his face.
"I am happy though you weren't hurt. I really am. Not that I'm gettin' all emotional on ye, I know we agreed on that we wouldn't. But still, yer a t the very least a good friend, and I wouldn't want ter see ye end up like the Doc."

"Well, as far as I've seen, she's far more useful to the side of a battlefield than on it. But not everyone is quite cut out for fighting," she smiled. "I like to know how to take care of myself." She glanced down at his hand on her thigh, caressing it through the wool blanket, and placed her hand over his.
"I'm glad we're both no worse for the wear. Everyone got out of that one better than I expected. So we just have to hope we don't have to go through that again," she sighed, and slid her bare feet and shins out from under the blanket to rest on his lap.

Aesir seemed to drift into thought as he ran his warm hand over her bare lower leg, same as he'd been doing to her thigh. Although, on occasion, he'd squeeze a little as though giving a very light massage.
"Ye know..." he began turning to her with a slight chuckle and smirk, but he stopped and blinked confused for a moment. He looked down to her bare lower leg and looked back at her, quirking his head sideways a bit. "I never knew yer one fer skirts."

"I'm not one for skirts. I'm afraid you've busted in on me in my pyjamas, or rather, lack thereof," she said, her cheeks flushing a bit. She tugged the sleeves of her shirt over her hands. "So you've busted in on my trouserless o'clock. Hope you don't mind."

His left eyebrow hiked up a bit as his mouth stayed slightly agape.
Oh really?
Shut up.
Lucky you.
Shut...up.
What? They're rather nice and soft them legs.
Shut u-
...
Alright, can't argue on that point.
Now what?
What do you mean, now what? Nothing!
Nothing?
Yes, nothing!
She's not wearing any pants.
What part of shut up don't you understand!?
There's have the trouble gone.
Be quiet! Honestly!
Alright.
Thank you.
...that shirt button up?
ARGH!
Aesir seemed to take a steadying breath for a moment before cooly letting his trademark smile surface, slowly tracing his fingertip up and down her leg.
"Well, pardon my intrusion, though why yer prancin' around in yer undergarments like this, I will not ask."
You do it too.
Hey! Shut up already!
What? It's not like anyone can hear us.
True, but did you ever get the feeling like yer being watched?
...
...
Creepy.
You too, huh?

"It gets really bloody hot in my quarters, being that we're up rather high. Therefore, knickers it is. What, would you rather me prance around with them on my head? Because that can be arranged," she said, rather cheekily. "I was in my quarters, reading my very interesting book, late at night. I did not expect visitors. Be thankful I wasn't running around naked."
She crossed her arms across her chest rather indignantly.
"If you would like, I can correct the problem."

"Well, there's nothing wrong with that, and I daresay that ye don't look ter have anythin' ter be ashamed of. And it's gotta be some book if it makes it hot enough in here to take yer pants off just ter read." he said offhandedly as he plucked the book from her.
"Now, what is this..." he said flipping through it.
