Kel nodded at the Charms professor, then set off down the clearing stairs.
"I'll meet you guys outside. . . how 'bout by the lake?" she tossed over her shoulder, then, not really expecting a reply, she flew down the stairs three steps at a time, jumping the last five onto the floor below, then setting off the next set of stairs. Pretty soon all you could see of her was a blur of colors from her bun and flapping robes.
((OOC: I'll start a thread on the grounds by the lake))

Kel nodded, then headed back down the stairs, after making sure that she hadn't forgotten anything to say, left something behind or something like that. Then, she remembered something. She sighed, then turned carefully and slowly, making sure there weren't any more frail Ravenclaws to plow into. Making her way up the stairs, it wasn't hard to spot Arcturus' head of bright hair.
"I forgot to wait before! Are you gonna join us?" she asked the tall Scot.

Kel chortled as she watched Aesir plunging dare-devilishly down, then turned back to the Charms professor and Fay.
"I'm going to head down there m'self, so if you want me to take your stuff, I'd be okay with that." She told Fay, who was - it seemed - trying to get Professor Taikal to help her with a Charm. "I wanna dump my stuff, and maybe grab a pair of more substantial gloves and my winter coat. I mean, I wear the rest of the stuff I need so I don't freeze in here, but I'm sure I'll need to be even warmer out there." Kel said, jerking her head toward one of the tall windows set into the wall of the castle, through which you could see a blanket of pure white snow stretching as far as you could see (the Forbidden Forest was behind the opposite side of the castle).
Momentarily captured by the astounding view, Kel pulled herself gently away from the lovely white hills and back to the staircase.

Kel grinned back at Fay, the praise making her feel warm and tingly inside.
"Well, I suppose I should be on my way. See you guys later!"
Kel waved, then trotted off down the stairs, heading for the library. Then, suddenly, she stopped and turned back, her abrupt movement causing her bag to swing around with rather unnecessary force, thumping a small Ravenclaw in the stomach as he hurried past.
"I'm sorry!" Kel cried, immediately bending down to rescue the winded boy. He was wheezing, but scurried off as if he expected her to pull out a knife and start waving it around. Kel looked after him, concerned, then shrugged and waded her way back up the stairs.
Finally, back where she had started, she informed them "I just decided that I'm going to go outside. Anyone for coming? I'm going to see how good the snow is for packing. . ." Kel trailed off, a roguish glint in her hazel green eyes.

Kel grinned.
"No, you're not keeping me from any classes. I was heading to the library to start a sketch. I stopped to help Fay; some Slytherin didn't care enough to move three inches to the side, so he just plowed right into her." Kel exaggerated a little on the 'plowed' part, but she thought it was close enough to the truth. She sounded a little sarcastic as she said the 'three inches' part as well; I mean, it was true! He didn't care enough to move a bit to the side to avoid walking into someone! Ugh, Slytherins! They made her sick!

Kel laughed, then raised her hands in a signal of defeat. "I cede." she told him, still shaking slightly with laughter. She turned to the Charms professor "I think you should, too. He's got ya." she informed him.

Kel pouted a bit as she large hat left her head, but she laughed along with Fay as the slightly grumpy Charms professor replaced the hat on top of his own head.
"Well, I'd say brooms are a type of magic, seeing as the can only fly because of spells placed on them, but still."
She smiled at the comment that telling the Headmistress on Aesir wouldn't do any good, because it was all too true.

Kel had nodded to Arcturus' statement/question about them meeting at the Halloween Ball and decided not to tell him he had been disgracefully drunk. She winced slightly at his outfit, but appreciated the fact that he was being original. She herself was wearing a large, slightly poofy bun with two Quidditch team flags stuck through it, along with her wand, a pencil, a pen, a ruler and a candy bar. Thank goodness she had so much hair, otherwise she would need a bigger bag to carry all her stuff. Well, not really, considering the messenger bag she had was already magically enlarged and had quite a few pockets designed solely for the purpose of carrying all her junk. But hey.
She smiled and waved at Aesir as he drew level with them, noticing his purple hat fairly quickly. It seemed quite a lot of people were being interesting today!
"It's going great, professor!" She said loudly, to be heard over the babble of the students on the stairs above, below and beside the trio.

"Wow! I'm going to the library, too! I'm going to work on a present for my uncle! It's a drawing of a hippogriff, because he loves them, and I want to animate it. I got some good tips from different professors on how to animate drawings, and I have some special pencils that will help, too. I want to see if I can do anything new with the spells, and there's a tincture I also want to try out." Kel stopped for breath, her cheeks slightly flushed with her excitement.
"Yes, we've met!" Kel beamed at Arcturus, also having heard his comment. "And I totally agree. But Donall Kennedy is quite nice, for a Slytherin. Though the others treat him like crap for being civil."

Kel smiled, grasping the proffered hand tightly. "Yeah, I am a first-year. Those Slytherins can be real prats, cant they?" She hiked her bag up higher on her shoulder, smiling wider. "I'm Keladry Lindenshield. Kel to all except Slytherins and teachers. Sir Nick, most notably, calls me 'Lady Lindenshield'. What a gentleman!" she laughed, not worrying about going on a bit about what people called her, of all things! Fay was easy-going, and very nice to talk to. Kel had discovered that most Hufflepuffs were, along with the two Gryffindors she had the pleasure of being friends with, not counting Sir Nick, who was also particularly pleasant to converse with.

Kel had been walking down the staircase when she saw Fay's things fall underneath the feet traveling along the walkway. She rushed over to help the other girl, noticing as she bent down to grab a stray pencil that the girl was wearing a Hufflepuff House badge on her robes. She offered the supplies she had managed to save from a trampling, tossing her head a bit to get trailing curls out of her eyes.

Kel laughed at the funny sight of Floyd's little head poking out from Stevie's pocket. She withdrew her hand, looking about. She spotted a dark-haired man coming toward them. He looked young, and slightly afraid. She watched him as he came to the water's edge and turned toward them.

Kel giggled, climbing out of the small boat. "It's okay. Both to now know a lot about Hogwarts-okay, nothing- and to blush a bit now and again." Kel reached her hand out to him. "Remember my mom. She didn't know anything either, and she works at St. Mungos now. Which is the only Wizarding hospital in Britain, in case you didn't know. And my father works at the Ministry of Magic, which is the Wizarding equivalent of government. He works in the Magical Games and Sports sector. He's always been crazy about Quidditch." Kel said, hoping to impart all the information she could about the Wizarding world.

Kel wondered briefly why he didn't know what a Muggle was if he was from a Pureblood family, but she forgot the thought when the small boat ground into the shore of the lake on the Hogwarts side. She could see a young man standing in front of her, surveying the students with something that seemed like nervousness or maybe fright.
Remembering what Stevie had said, she answered. "Yeah, it would! What House do you want to be in? Or maybe I should ask: what do you know about Hogwarts?"

Kel listened to him, glancing at him when she heard his last question. She saw the blush, hastening to explain. "A Muggle is a non-magical person. I was born into a Pureblood family. My mum, though, had a Muggle mother. She didn't know anything about magical ways, either. She had a hard time figuring everything out, but her friends helped her a lot. Maybe if we're in the same House, I can do the same for you!" Kel said hopefully.
