Kel, peering around the students in front of her, saw that Lilianne missed, and winced for Lil's sake.
The yellow-clad Hufflepuff had wondered what the point of this exercise was a first, but though she was still quite confused, she thought she could tell at least a little bit of Professor Novim's point.
'I think he's trying to tell us that there are more ways to cast a spell than the stereotypical wand-waving, incantation-chanting, and/or wordless--and some wandless--magic. Kel had already noticed in flying class that you didn't necessarily need a wand to focus your magic (which is what a wand does, isn't it?). And she had also heard that untrained witches/wizards sometimes do magic when they're experiencing extreme emotions, or because they're very determined to do something or have something happen. Kel happened to prefer using a wand, for the very simple reason that the magical properties of the wood and magical creature enhanced her own magical abilities, but she didn't think it was so unlikely that some--for example, an athletic wizard--might find it easier to focus their magic through a broomstick, or some other sort of magically endowed object. It actually made a lot of sense when Kel thought about it.
