The Auror's needed a base of operations in the school and had set up shop in the staff room. If someone needed to find a member of the Ministry this was the place to look.
Papers and maps of Hogwarts littered the tables and walls. Some Aurors sat filling out extensive paper work by the warm fireplace while others took naps on the armchairs catching up on some sleep between shifts. Some even bantered and bounced ideas off each other about what or who could be behind the recent attacks. The rest patrolled the halls of Hogwarts ensuring the safety and well-being of the staff and students.
Unfortunately for the Aurors, they had hit a dead end. No one found anything in the Forbidden Forest and all the student and staff interviews turned up nothing. All they could hope for now was for someone to come forward with some information...

[Thanks for the hint. ] Kel, after having gone back to bed and spent a long, sleepless night tossing about in her four-poster bed, trying in vain to get to sleep after hearing Thomas and Minka arguing, had set off early the next morning to the Staff Room, hoping to find a teacher she could tell about what she had overhead. She had tried to decide whether to go to Headmistress Pierce or to the other teachers, and had decided that the Staff Room was a wee bit closer, and that there was more of a chance that there would be teachers there. She wouldn't admit that she was kind of afraid of the Headmistress. She was kinda intimidating for a young girl, even if that particular girl was slightly more brave than other ones. Kel trotted through the halls quickly, passing the few students that were out and about this early in the morning, and this soon after attacks, keeping her head down. She arrived soon enough at the two gargoyles that guarded the entrance to the room, then paused, wondering what to do. "What're you here for, little girl?" asked one of the slightly beat-up gargoyles kindly, bending its large stone head down to Kel. Kel jumped, then, as if she talked to granite gargoyles regularly, told it politely, "Yes, I would like to go in and talk to a teacher. It's quite important."The gargoyle nodded, and the doors swung open with a creak.

As Kel walked in a tall woman walked out and nearly into Kel. She had her head turned back and not looking where she was going, "I'm going to see where Nathan went, he hasn't been back since his rounds last night... I'm going to check the-" She turned to look at young Hufflepuff. "Oh sorry dear, I didn't see you. Um... Should you be here? It's awfully early for a student to be wondering about."
The woman wore a black cloak and armour similar to Nicholas' but fitted for a woman. Unlike Nicholas she didn't carry a sword, but carried her wand at her side in a holster. Her hair was long, black and braided, but had a friendly face.

Kel was startled, and jumped back as the dark-haired woman bumped into her.
"I. . . I'm sorry, I was just coming to tell the Aurors something. . . I hope I'm not in the way. . . " Kel stuttered, slightly in awe, slightly frightened, of the tall Auror.
"Should I go in. . ?" she asked, gesturing towards the interior of the room, which was behind the armored woman.

"Yes, you may, don't be shy. My name's Anne-Marie. Nothing to be afraid of. Now what is it that you need to tell us dear?"
The tall woman lead her into the room. There was a young man dozing in an armchair by the fire and another red head with freckles pouring over some paper work at a table.
They both looked up and smiled at Kel. "This is Dustin." She pointed to the man in the arm chair. He sat up from his lounging position and tipped his cowboy hat to Kel. "And this is Sean." She motioned to the red head. He looked up and nodded.
"Howdy, 'lil lady."
"Hi."

Kel smiled at the two Aurors.
"Good morning." she said cordially, then tuned to Anne-Marie.
"Um. . . I have some news. . . I overheard Professor Davinmir talking with a student called Thomas Angelo. . . I think they're the ones who brought the monsters into the Great Hall." This tumbled out faster than she would have liked. Relieved to have the news out, though, she sank into the nearest chair.
Kel knew this wasn't anywhere near the end, however, and went over what she had seen and heard in her head, so as to relate it better when it was asked of her.

When Kel spoke, the three in the room all of a sudden were extremely interested in what she had to say. Dustin pulled his arm chair closer to Kel and spoke in a thick American accent. He had a disarming smile and rugged good looks.
"Well, now, you don't say?- There's no need to be nervous miss, we're here to help... Now what did you hear them talking about?"
Sean came closer with a quill and note pad in hand, ready to take down any information Kel provided. Anne-Marie just listened.

Kel took a deep breath and plunged into her story.
"Well, Professor Davinmir was mad at the French exchange student, Toe-mah Bertrand Angelo, because he had messed up and let the creatures in. She said something about how the Don would be really mad at him, and that she wouldn't be able to get to a grave.
"He said something about how she had botched up, too. . . something about her hands. . . then an Auror came just as Toe-mah was about to say something about what they needed to do next. Professor Davinmir took him away to have some Turkish coffee." Kel finished, taking a few deep breaths to calm her nerves. She hadn't said anything about how Madame Minka had said that she was almost disappointed that the beasts hadn't killed the nurse, because apparently she had noticed the professor's hands. This was all just so worrying.

Sean had a look of deep concern on his face, "What did the Auror look like?... Was he kinda chubby? Older man?"
Anne-Marie chimed in with "Does his mustache put a walrus's to shame?"
Dustin went wide-eyed. "Do you mean Don or the Don?"

Kel's eyes widened slightly, but she answered the questions calmly enough, considering her position.
"Um, yes, he was rather chubby, and older. . . he had a pretty outrageous mustache, and yes, it was 'the Don,' not just 'Don.'

Dustine gaped at her answer, "Oh well isn't that just marvelous. This whole investigation just got a whole lot more interestin'."
"I'll say. We'd better call for back up, we're dealing with a whole new kettle of fish now that the Wizarding mob seems to be involved-"
Anne-Marie seemed to be a bit more panicked than her 2 colleagues. "Which way did you see Nathan go? The chubby fellow? Where did Minka take him?..." She turned to Dustin and Sean. "He's been missing since last night, it may already be too late-."
"Tell us more about this Thomas kid-" Sean continued to jot down everything Kel said. "It's very important you tell us every detail, not matter how trivial it seems to you, it's important to us. Do you understand...Um, I don't believe we got you're name...."

Kel stared at them as they ping-ponged comments and questions back and forth.
"My name's Keladry Lindenshield. Madame Davnimir took. . . what did you say his name was? Nathan? She took him in the direction of her office, but I wasn't watching them when they left.
"Um. . . Toe-mah Angelo has dark-ish blond hair. He's an exchange student from France, and I'm pretty sure this was his first year here. I think he's in his seventh year, but maybe sixth. . . I'm not positive. He was mad at the professor for doing something to her hand, like I said before, and she was mad at him for doing something in the Forbidden Forest. She told him to 'get his stuff out. . .' I don't know what 'stuff.'"
Kel stopped to catch her breath, shakily taking another breath. She didn't like all this suspicion, and the fact that her own Head of House had been involved in the attack. . . she didn't know who to trust anymore.

"It's OK there, Kelandry- Don't have to be so nervous. You aren't going to get into any trouble. Take your time." Dustin reassured her.
Sean went went over to one of the tables which had some breakfast laid out for the Auror's (curtosy of the House Elves) and poured Kel a glass of orange juice. He gave it to her.
"He'll be registered on a class list somewhere, I'm sure Miss Pierce keeps thorough and tidy records... You've been a big help. It's lucky that you over heard what you did... Do you know if Madame Davinmir caught you eavesdropping?... I strongly suggest you steer clear of her as much as humanly possible." Sean added.
Anne-Marie was restless. "I can't wait- I'm going to look for Nathan... Where's this woman's office?"

Kel smiled thankfully at Dustin and nodded in fervent agreement with Sean's comment on steering clear of Madam Minka, shivering slightly at the idea of having been discovered last night.
"I'm not positive of the exact location. . . I know it's in a tower, and I think it's pretty close to the Hufflepuff Common Room, but I'm really not sure. . ."
Kel sank farther and farther back into the chair, feeling drowsy. She hadn't gotten much sleep worrying about Minka and Thomas. Her mouth stretched in a huge yawn.

"Well I'll do my best, I'm sure that I'll bump into someone who knows where it is, I'm off to find Nathan..." Anne-marie headed out the door, "Thanks!" She hollered back into the room.
"I'm going to go with her, she can't go alone, after all I'm her partner- Thanks again lil' lady." Mentioned Dustin as he tipped his hat to Kel and followed Anne-Marie out of the room.
"Well it looks like it's just you and me... Up bright and early, hun? Would you like some breakfast to go with your orange juice?" Added Sean after the 2 aurors left. "There's no need to worry, we'll get to the bottom of this soon enough."
