Nicholas took a look at the letter and muttered under his breath as he eyed it critically.
"Well, this Father has a few tricks and connections up his sleeves as well. First things first; we run it by the Headmistress to make sure authorization is correct. Secondly, if it is, you be sure to write to me. And I'm not joking. If they ever, ever do anything to you and try to keep you from school, tell me. If you're Father does anything to harm you, you write to me. You got that? And we will get you out of there before you can even say 'bugger'." Nicholas said quickly, his tone a mixture of concerned father and police officer. He gave him a look. "Okay?"

Don looked at Sir Nick as if he had gone mad. Why was he so concerned?
"Erm... yes, Sir. I'll try to write you." He was obviously uncomfortable.

Althea entered the great hall with Ed in her arms and Vincent and Isabelle following shortly behind, like a mother duck being followed by her chicks. She nodded hello to Nicholas, who was currently engaged in a conversation with a Slytherin student, and took her seat at the staff table at the far end of the hall. The children climbed up onto their chairs and Althea placed Ed into a wooden high chair which she pulled closer to the table.
She helped Vincent spread jam on his toast and buttered Isabelle's share for her. Each of them had some oragne juice and milk, as well as a banana. Althea spread out a small handful of dry cereal onto the tray in front of the baby who picked at them with his pudgy digits.
Althea poured herself a tall glass of orange juice and a bowl of cereal as one of the Hogwarts owls swooped down, dropping a copy of the Daily Prophet as well as the London Times. Althea pushed the copy of the Daily Prophet aside for later and unfolded the London Times and began to read the front page news, while she waited for Nicholas to eventually join her.

Nicholas quirked an eyebrow.
"You can get as uncomfortable with this as you want, but I'm going through with this. I don't like the way that letter goes. Somethign about it rubs me the wrong way." he said as he deftly drew his wand. "Expecto Patronus."
The silvery light erupted from his wand and took shape before him; an enormous Clydesdale horse large enough to have Nicholas seated comfortably on its back. The phantom like steed moved forward, it's mane covering it's face almost like Nicholas' hair with his own.
The ex-Auror repeated the contents of the letter to his patronus before continuing. "It appears Donall Kennedy's father wishes him to leave this afternoon. Double check with the Headmistress tell both Donall and myself the answer once she tells you. Go see him first though. Go ahead boy." he added tenderly to the patronus.
The large creature began to canter away and finally disappeared at the staircases. "There you go. I suppose I'll let you on your way then. Guess I've freaked you out enough."

Minka timidly entered the hall from the direction of the kitchens, quietly taking a seat at the staff table. She nodded to the other staff members seated at the table, but said nothing. She piled her plate high with sausages and buttered some toast. When she poured herself a cup of coffee, the long bell-sleeve of her white cotton embroidered blouse slipped back revealing that the scars on her hands in fact reached almost to her elbows. She hastily pulled the sleeve down again to cover up. She looked around to see if any one had noticed.

Don's eyes widened at the sight of the silvery patronus. He had never seen a patronus before.
He nodded quietly at the professor. "Thank you. I suppose I'll go pack, just in case."
And with that he walked away to his Common Room to await the knight's patronus, and start packing his trunk.

Nicholas gave the young man a quick pat on the shoulder and a smile before he turned to go back into the Great Hall. He'd noticed his wife and children pass by earlier and was eager to sit down and have a meal with them. Hurriedly, he briskly walked to the table where the Professor's and staff sat, easily hopping onto the raised platform, and found his seat.
He kissed the top of Isabelle's head, ruffled Vincent's hair and kissed Althea on the cheek before sitting down. He looked to Edward and waggled a finger at his youngest boy who giggled and snatched his father's finger. "Good morning. Sorry about that. Hello Edward. Hello!" he said, turning all sort of cutesy when smiling broadly and playing with his youngest child.

Post by Aesir MacLeod on Jan 7, 2008 12:18:06 GMT -5
Aesir slowly made his way to the Great Hall. He seemed all sorts of tired; his hair ever so slightly disheveled, his clothing somewhat rumpled, his movements a little more sluggish than normal and yawning one loud time before entering the Hall itself.
His broom was slung over his shoulder and he was still wearing his outdoor jacket, winter flight gloves and scarf.
He was at least awake enough to give toothy smiles and "G'morning"s to some of the seventh year girls who in turn either blushed, turned away to whisper, smiled back or rolled their eyes...only to do one of the three when he wasn't looking anymore.
Lazily, Aesir grabbed his broom like a hanging rope and let himself fly up the two feet onto the platform. He waved briefly to some of the faculty and staff before he found and empty chair and eagerly began to pull together some breakfast. When an occasional owl flew in, his eyes would dart immediately towards the creature, looking on the verge of being panicked before going back to his food.
Ye were just imaginin' things, MacLeod. Ye were just seein' things.
And hearin' things?

Arcturus continued to eat his breakfast as he observed the goings-on. Much more exciting than normal. Mister MacLeod was very jumpy, looking up whenever an owl flew into the Hall. Miss Davinmir seemed secretive of something on her sleeve, or arm, and jumped when her sleeve slipped back or something. Arcturus wasn't totally sure; he had had a bad view when it happened. Nick, well, who knows with him. Arcturus smiled. Nick was so nice, and couldn't help but help everyone he could, which generally put him right in the middle of all the weird stuff. He had just been talking with Don Kennedy, and Arcturus guessed that there was something going on there, but he wasn't sure what. Arcturus chuckled to himself. Man, Hogwarts was so insane. He loved it.

Althea turned to greet the flying professor. "Good morning Aesir, is everything alright? You're kinda jumpy... Did you manage to get some sleep?" She smiled to herself, thinking she knew the correct answer, "You went to drinking with Shyinad, didn't you?"

Aesir snapped his attention to Althea and smiled. "Oh, yeah, hi. Well, um, there might have a been a wee bit of drinkin' and some drunken antics but ye know, someone needs to make sure Syhinad doesn't get lost somewhere in the middle of the night." he said, his smile faltering as he quickly looked to another owl that flew in.
He breathed out to calm himself and looked curiously to Althea. "Say, Doc, ye seen anythin'...er, well, strange happenin' these days? Out of doors, I mean, by the forest?"

Zea meandered into the Great Hall, in no apparent hurry. Being very much a morning person, she had a wholly cheerful appearance about her, and plunked herself down at the staff table. She messily began to spread marmalade on her toast, and made silly faces at the Lannsman baby while his mother wasn't looking.

"I can't say that I have, the only weirdness that I've been witness to is her." She nodded in the direction of the divinations professor, and keeping her voice down, "She seems out of place to be teaching in Hogwarts- She's kind of callous- but then again, so is Orynn... Anyway- I haven't seen anything..." She was more curious now, "Did you see something?...If you did you should tell the Headmistress, especially if whatever it is is hostile."

Aesir frowned as he looked over to Minka and shrugged. "She's a weird, Transylvanian Gypsy with an attitude problem and a bad accent. What're ye gonna do. So long as she doesn't try an' like, alter my future're something, I'm fine ter just leave her alone."
He sipped some of his orange juice and looked to Althea again. He spoke a little quieter. "Now look, I'll be the first ter admit it. I was smashed out of me flippin' gourd last night, but while I was flyin' back ter the castle-yes, I know I shouldn't drink and fly, Officer- but I could've sworn I'd seen somethin' out near the edge of the Forbidden Forest...and it sure as Hell saw me."
He seemed thoroughly disquieted by the fact.

Her tone definitely shushed, "What did it look like? Was it big?" Althea was itching to know. She was curious about what Aesir was talking about, but was hoping he was either hallucinating or that whatever he saw was completely harmless. She munched on another spoonful of soggy cereal.
