((Elsbeth, I deleted your post of my post because otherwise it'll look all weird.))
Draelynn knocked on the large door that opened into the Headmistress' large office.
He had a couple of questions about his post, among other things, and also wanted the Headmistress to know that he had arrived, and to meet her in person.

As usual, Elsbeth had been looking over papers and lists and other things in her office, even though it was a beautiful day outside.
Though she was so busy, she heard the knock at her door and called out to the person to come in. "Yes, come in, please!"

Draelynn heard her tell him to come in and he complied, looking about him at all the odd machines and the sunny view.
He approached Headmistress Pierce's desk, still taking in everything he could. "Good afternoon, Headmistress. I am newly appointed Groundskeeper Draelynn Hiammgry. I was just coming in to tell you that I have arrived and that I'll be moving into the small cottage on the grounds." Draelynn said, quickly getting the niceties and his statement out of the way. He smiled at the Headmistress, feeling instinctively that she was a good person, if a rather stern teacher, even prickly.
Draelynn couldn't wait to meet other professors and staff members, and also get acquainted with the plants and animals on the grounds.

Elsbeth smiled at the newcomer. Elsbeth motioned to the chair opposite her and began speaking. "Welcome to Hogwarts, Mister Hiammgry."
Though she had gestured for him to sit down, she oferred her hand to shake his before he sat down "It's a pleasure to have you on board."
"Is there anything I can do for you this afternoon?"

"Thank you!" Draelynn beamed at the welcome, shaking her hand and sitting down at the same time. "I was wondering about a few things; one, what will my obligations be as a member of the staff? I've quite obviously never been a groundskeeper at a school; to be honest I've actually never had a job before, so I'm really not very clear on what to do."
Draelynn spoke clearly, if slightly soft and a little hesitantly; he still wasn't quite comfortable speaking to other people. he much preferred his wolf, Caera, or the plants and animals he found wherever he went.
He waited for Elsbeths' answer eagerly, wanting to learn more.

"Oh, you're welcome, Sir Hiammgry." Elsbeth said, in a friendly tone. She noticed that he didn't seem too comfortable, but she wasn't so sure of why this was.
"You see, a Groundskeeper takes care of the grounds, just as the name implies. However, you would merely patrol outside in the evenings to be sure no students are out of bounds or out after curfew. Your job would also entail meeting the first-years and escorting them from the Hogsmeade railway station across the lake to Hogwarts before the Starting Feast."
Elsbeth then waited to see if the new Groundskeeper had any objections or comments.

Draelynn listened carefully so that he would remember his duties. His discomfort heightened, however, at the title Elsbeth had addressed him with. "Well, that all sounds quite fine, Ms. Pierce, except for one thing." Draelynn told her. "The 'sir'. I'm no sir, just Draelynn."
He thought about other potential questions, but as soon as he thought of them, he came up with an answer. The whole position and tasks that came along with it seemed quite straightforward and simple, and Draelynn couldn't think of anything he needed to know about them. "Well, I really can't think of anything else I need to know, except for when the first staff meeting or other meeting will be. I would also like to meet any professors or staff members that have already arrived, if that's not too much trouble, though I can always just wander around and explore; eventually I'll find them if they're here, and not hidden. It's the best way for me to get acquainted with things too, even if it's just an old castle. I can tell this particular castle has secrets and a personality of it's own. . . ." Draelynn trailed off, thinking about other things, then suddenly remembered where he was.
"Oh, I'm sorry about that! I have a tendency to trail off when I'm talking to plants or animals, but it's never happened to me with a person before!" Draelynn was extremely surprised, though happy, that he was finding it so easy to talk to Elsbeth. He had been quite worried that he would be too shy to talk to anybody, much less jabber on about things! But it was definitely a turn for the better.

"There will be a meeting(OOC: Not for real, just saying so.) the morning before the students arrive, for sure. But if you'd like to meet the staff before, they are arriving every day, you're bound to run into someone in the halls if you go exploring."
Elsbeth stood up from her seat and offered her hand to the man seated in front of her. "Well, Draelynn, it was a pleasure to meet you, and I look forward to working with you this year." She smiled reassuringly, and continued. "And please, don't worry about the babbling, it happens to the best of us."

Draelynn smiled at Elsbeth's last comment, shaking the proffered hand.
"That sounds wonderful, Headmistress. I think I'll go and poke about a bit, unless you want me for anything?" Draelynn voiced this last bit as a question.

Elsbeth shook her head slightly, and answered the Groundskeeper's question. "No no, Sir, that will be all. Go enjoy your explorations. This castle and its grounds are truly magnificent."
With that, Elsbeth walked over and opned her office doors as a friendly gesture; walking out a visitor was the polite thing to do, after all.

Draelynn, still smiling, tipped his head and went off to poke about in the huge castle. He had no doubt that he would be able to find any professors that might be there. . . .
