Nicholas finally arrived to the castle, his bags bulging with books and recent purchases. He finally meandered his way to the Hospital Wing, his smiling growing with each step. His smile only grew at the small hand painted sign on the door before her pushed it open.
"Message for Doctor Althea Lannsman." he said as he began to walk in.

Althea sat at her desk, numerous vials and pots were stacked before her. She looked at the labels one by one and recorded them into a ledger. On a separate piece of paper, she had begun a list of what needed to be acquired for the hospital wing, all the while keeping a watchful eye on her son, who was content on playing with a toy airplane, running up an down in between the beds.
The child rushed forward, grabbing hold of his father's leg as Nicholas wondered in. "Daddy!"
"Well, hello stranger. Have fun in town?" Althea put the quill away in it's resting place on the desk and screwed the cap shut on her ink pot. She got up to greet her husband with a quick kiss.

"Hey there, kiddo. I'm gone for a few days, and look at you! Growing taller by the minute." he said, chuckling as he tousled his sons curly locks. Although he gave a plaintive "Daaaaaad.", he still hugged his father's leg, smiling.
Nicholas returned the kiss, grinning. "I thought I'd drop on in. I was feeling a little lovesick, and I thought you might be able to help me with that, Doc. How bad is it, am I going to make it?" he asked, sounding slightly worried.

She brushed the back of her hand against his neck and finally rested it on his forehead as she stepped in closer.
"Hummm... I don't know. I might have to set you up in intensive care, but I think you'll live..."
Her smile turned to a playful devious smirk, "For now..." followed by mock maniacal laughter.

He chuckled a little as she began her maniacal doctor laugh, looking down and softly saying to his worried son "It's okay, we're just joking."
He gave her a quick kiss and moved over to one of the unoccupied beds and dropped the back, and unfastened his cloak. Nicholas wore his usual dark red doublet and brown leather vest, his heavy leather gloves with his sword and wand still sheathed on his belts.
"Did a bit of shopping, and helped some of the new students over at Diagon Alley the other day. This one poor girl was there on her own, not knowing anything about the wizarding world. I gave her a bit of a crash course, but I'm sure she'll fit right in. Seems nice enough. Oh! And there's a new book out there actually written by a Sphinx. It's an anthology on all his riddles and stories, I thought you might like it. And did you know they have a new edition of the Draconomicon out there already?" he began cheerfully as he began emptying the contents of the bag. Most of it was supplies for his class, or new articles of clothing for himself and his family, a few little medical supplies of government issue kind and well as a few trinkets and tools from his Ministry days. Nicholas sectioned off the pile for his wife and put it on the other bed.
"A few robes and such, I thought you might like. A managed to get a few more medical supplies and things from Alistair when I went to see the Ministry about the letter. He says hello by the way." he said as he then began to put the rest of his things back into his bag.

"Really a Sphinx? I'd love to read that- I wonder how they got a Sphinx to write a book. Heh- No matter..." She listened to his ramblings about the alley. "Alistair? Really? How is he doing? I haven't seen him in a few years."

"Oh, he's doing rather fine actually. They lost a few Auror's a couple of months back and are still looking to fill the ranks. Ever since Potter's death, things have been getting progressively harder. I think they're trying to guilt trip me into rejoining, what with all the flattery, the gifts, the bowing and the 'Sir'." Nicholas sighs, sounding somewhat exasperated. "From what I heard from Alistair, they could really use my help. He's always been a pretty good friend, and I know he wouldn't be used as a puppet from the Ministry to make me feel bad. I'm pretty sure he was telling me the truth of it."
Nicholas gently sits down onto the bed, running a hand through his hair. "He got a promotion though. He's become an Auror Captain, in charge of his own group now. He said if I ever wanted, he would put in a good word for me and pull some strings to get a Captain position myself. I don't think so though, I like teaching, it's much safer, and I can do just as much good here I think."
Nicholas looks to Althea and then at his son, whose continued to fly down between empty beds with his plane. "Apparently there's been a lot more trouble since Potter died." he managed to mutter.

She calmly sat next to him on the bed and place a hand on his thigh, taking on a serious tone,"I'm glad to hear that Alistair is doing fine, but you are not rejoining the Aurors. I don't care how much they bribe you or kiss your ass, you have a family now, a big family. I transfered here to be close to you and we'd be together to raise the children... Please, I don't need you on the receiving end of another Cruciatus Curse."

He actually shivered slightly at the reminder of the Curse that almost killed him, the Curse he waas still physically recovering from. He wrapped an arm over her shoulder and pulled her closer. "Don't worry. I won't." he answered simply, but his smile speaking volumes. "Besides, I've got even more kids to take care of, besides from my own. I'm not going to be dropping my responsibilites. There are plenty of other capable Wizards out there."
He looked over to Vincent. "I don't want to have the kids go through what I made you go through. Or have them go through without having a father." he added a little more quietly, squeezing her shoulder slightly. "It's nice to be back though."

"It's nice to have you near by." She rested her head on his shoulder, letting herself be held by Nicholas. "I'll have to go into town at some point, there are some things missing that I need for the hospital wing. I'll also have to find some way to get some Muggle supplies in here as well. Know any quick ways to get back to the muggle world? I can't waste any time, the semester's about to begin."

"I'm not too sure, but I'm certain the Headmistress would be able to arrange something." he began as he felt the air in the vicinity pick an ever so small change in temperature. He look around quickly, locating the source coming from the doorway; the ghost of the Gryffindor House, ironically a Sir Nick as well.
Nicholas stood up and turned to the spectre, bowing deeply and respectfully to the apparition of the deceased knight. "To what do I owe the pleasure, Sir Nicholas?" the professor asked amicably.
The ghost bowed as well, keeping a firm grasp on his loose head. "You have been summoned before the Deputy Headmaster, Sir Nicholas. It is rather splendid to see you again, old chap." the ghost answered in kind. "And wonderful to see you in good health as well, Lady Lannsman."
"I'll be with him right away." Nicholas answered reluctantly, looking back to his wife. "I'll be right back."

"Thank you, Sir Nicholas. It's nice to see you too." She smiled at the ghost and shooed her husband off. "Go on, Deputy Headmaster Novin isn't the most patient of people."
Althea looked back to where Vincent was playing only to find his toy airplane on the ground in between 2 beds. She caught her breath as she quickly scanned the room for her son, her eyes finally resting on 2 small feet poking out from under one of the beds. She let out a sigh of relief.
"Oh, honey, it's ok, you can come out. It's just Sir Nicholas. He's nothing to be afraid of dear..." She looked back to the specter. "I'm sorry, he's frightened of you. He's not used to the castle yet."
"It's quite alright, Madame, I'm used to it. He'll come around I'm sure." said the ghost reassuringly.
"Just don't do that thing with your head around him- That still gets me even at times." Althea knelt down beside the bed, trying to coax her son to come out.
