On the seventh floor, in a tower of it's own, lies the Headmistress' office. A statue of a gargoyle guards its entrance from intruders, and only moves at the utterance of the correct password.
Once the statue moves aside, a spiral stone staircase winds up to the office itself, and moves as an escalator, bringing the witch or wizard to a highly polished oak door with a brass knocker in the shape of a griffin.
The room itself is circular, and quite warm and inviting. One window faces east with a view of the mountains surrounding the castle. There are a few other windows, as well as portraits of previous Headmasters and Headmistresses, and a fireplace connected to the floo network.
Directly across from the door is Elsbeth's desk. She has a high backed chair for herself and always has on hand a few extra chairs for those who stop in for a visit. Behind her own chair is the portrait of Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, and beside it that of Headmaster Severus Snape. on it's other side is a shelf that holds the Sorting Hat. Near the shelf used to be a case that held the Sword of Gryffindor, but that sword is kept locked away in a secret spot, to reappear only when in need by a true Gryffindor spirit.
Elsbeth's desk is always full of parchment and quills, and a Potions tome or two. She rarely uses her Potions Office unless she needs to do some lab work.
