Character Name: Draelynn Hiammgry
Character Age: 19
Wand: 11 1/4'' White Pine with a Unicorn tail hair core
Pet (if any): A wolf that he raised from infancy when a hunter shot it's mother. Her name is Caera (pronounced Cara), and is totally devoted to him.
Where did your character attend school? He was homeschooled, and also attended Muggle schools. His mother wanted to spend more time with him, and to get to know their only son.
What House was he/she in (If applicable)? N/A
Family History (Go into detail, if possible):
Draelynn grew up in a tiny family. He had only a mother to provide for him, and so he grew up without knowing many people, as he was homeschooled most of his life. His mother had once been very rich, but was now alcoholic. She wasn't inebriated enough to impede Draelynn's education, and since her parents had died and passed down the large family fortune to her, she had enough money to last her several lifetimes, even with her weekly drinking stints.
Draelynn dutifully did all his schoolwork and chores each morning, then escaped to the large wood behind their country home. He learned most of life's most important lessons from the plants and animals there, and also met quite a few magical ones as well. Though he learned a large amount from his days in the forest, nothing can replace real social interaction, and Draelynn still struggles with shyness, though he is slowly overcoming it.
After his mother died, Draelynn was extremely rich, but he chose to use it to buy a small cottage even farther out in the country, and lived as a hermit. Everyone who knew him (which wasn't many people) thought he was quite odd, and talked in hushed voices about him. Many people thought he was crazy, or had some mental illness, but Draelynn was actually quite intelligent. He could have easily gotten a job, but he didn't want to. He lived in the woods, living off it and studying every little thing he came by.
He heard about Hogwarts one day when he was far from home, walking through a large wooded area. He was walking near the edge of the woods, and had seen a huge castle with expansive grounds and spacious fields. He had already fallen in love with the mysterious woods, and the fields called to him. Even the large castle didn't seem so imposing as it easily could have been. So Draelynn went home to find out more about it.
And now here he is, applying for a job.
Physical Description: Draelynn is 6' tall, with feathery soft jet black hair, deep indigo eyes and light olive skin. His eyes are usually wide with wonder, studying some beautiful creation.
Personality Description: (Go into detail, if possible) Draelynn is very shy around people, and usually doesn't know what to say. He is very gentle, caring, kind, loving and respectful. If you have something to say, he will let you say it. If you have made some mistake, he will gently bring you around and show you the right way, but he knows when to let go of the controller (to use a video game example) and let you learn your lesson. But he will always be there to offer help and guidance.
Strengths: Draelynn is, as already stated, extremely intelligent. His mother, however alcoholic she might be, was a very good teacher, and Draelynn had a very keen mind for learning.
He is also very good at any kind of wand magic (which is, of course, the only kind of real magic there is, except for wordless magic). He is especially good at Charms, though Transfiguration is another strong point (his mother was also extremely good with a wand). He could do wandless magic by the time he was fifteen, and at sixteen was as strong as any full-fledged Wizard. He was full-grown and ready for anything by the time his seventeenth birthday rolled around, but then his mother died and he spent a year settling everything with her.
Eighteen was spent studiously. He recovered from all the commotion, chaos and sorrow he had just come through, and by the time he saw Hogwarts, he was fully healed and bored of the same ol' same ol' of his cottage and the small woods by it. He was ready to go out into the world at last.
Weaknesses: Sick things. There is nothing Draelynn wouldn't do for anything, plant, animal, human, friend, foe or beast, that was sick.
Why would you like to take this staff position at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry? Because I care about the Grounds on Hogwarts, and about the small animals that lie there, and could potentially be harmed from the students. I want to keep the plants and animals healthy, and keep the students happy by giving them the gift of nature.
And because I, Katie, think that Groundskeeper is an easy enough position that I will have enough time to play Kel and Draelynn, but not be so busy making lessons and such that I don't have time for anything else, especially since I don't have any time to be a professor right now. But I thought just being another student would be tedious rather than fun, so Groundskeeper is my choice.
Which staff position would you like? Groundskeeper
Have you had any prior experience (In character, and on other sites)? I RP'd on H_Phoenix Rising, and am also and avid book-reader and writer, though I don't know if that's relevant.
Please give us an example RP:
Draelynn sat in the clearing deep within the Forbidden Forest, sitting on the springy carpet of dark green pine needles. He looked up into the trees, his dark indigo eyes piercing through the needles that made up the canopy high above his dark-haired head. His soft-haired head tipped back, he stared past the charcoal-emerald trees straight into the sky, sliding his gaze past stars, constellations and planets, finally coming to rest on a small shadow speeding through the darkness above him, toward the huge, towering shape that dominated the outlying hills. And the forest he was sitting in, of course.
Draelynn shifted his gaze until it was level with his surroundings, then swirled it over every visible thing, scrutinizing every petal on every late flower, every blade on every grass, every sprig of clover, every insect flying through the crisp fall air on shimmering wings, every squirrel scuttling off to bed after a late night of burying a few last acorns before winter, and every single rattling twig on every single bare tree outside the clearing where he was presently sitting, just sitting there, enjoying the wonderful world that he-and everything else-was so deserving to be able to live in.
