Nicholas moved out of his chair, grabbing the box of tissues with him and kneeled before her. "Oh, come now, my dear. There's no need to think that. We both know that the wizarding world suffers from many paradoxical views, stigmas and prejudices but simply because you fear that people would treat you like that doesn't mean you're slighting your father. He knows what it was like to grow up as a Squib, of course you wouldn't want to be one because of the bad things that have happened to him."
Nicholas lifted the box up gingerly, a small smile on his face. "But I'm certain that he's had friends that have stuck with him no matter what. And he got married. Besides, you have exercised the ability to cast magic from what I've heard. It just needs to be controlled. If I'm not mistaken, your much stronger than you think. That could be why your having so much problems controlling it. There' s no need to cry my dear, it'll be alright."
He carefully looked to her and spoke with Lilianne as though he were comforting his own child. It was kind of funny watching this tall, muscular and scarred ex-Auror being as gentle as a teddy bear, goofy as a twelve year old and almost as caring as her own father.

Lilianne took a tissue to wipe her tears, but she looked less ashamed of them as previously. She was starting to feel that with this man, as with her own family, she didn't have to be afraid to show her true feelings.
"Maybe you're right, Professor, but I still think it's horrible that I'm hoping I don't end up like one of the people I love the most in my life..."
She sniffed a bit and wiped a tear that had fallen on the picture lying on her lap.
"I'm sorry Sir, I don't know why I'm bothering you with this. It's the first time I talk to someone about the way I feel. Well, someone human. I'm afraid I'll hurt my dad's feelings if I talk to him about it..."

Nicholas nodding, empathizing with the young girl. "Listen, Lilianne. It's no problem. I really don't mind you telling me all this. I'm here to help. Look, what you're afraid of is not becoming your father, but suffering what he's gone through. There's a significant difference in that respect. You don't want to have people demean you or treat you ill as they did him, or to live in a world of magic without your own and be an outcast. The fact you love your father points to that very reason. See what I mean? Or am I just spouting crazy talk?" he added lastly, trying to get a small laugh and ease her up.
"You really have nothing to worry about my dear." he said, passing her another tissue. "Except for my reserves of tissues. Your ripping through it like a troll in a fine china shop."

Lilianne did let out a little laugh. "Jury's still out, Sir..."
Unfortunately it looked being made self-aware of her crying only made her tear up more. It was always like that. First she cries because something upsets her, then she cries because she's embarassed by her own crying. A very silly, and wet, loop.
"I'm such a crybaby. I don't know why I tear up so easily, and when it starts I can't stop it..."

Nicholas flashed a disarming smile at her. "It's alright to cry my dear. You're just a sensitive person, and caring to boot. Sometimes it's good just to let it out. But you should stop crying soon." Nicholas said as he gave her a helpless look, she could see that his eyes were tearing up too. "You're going to make me start crying."

"Oh no, don't! Then you'll take housepoints from me!" Lilianne exclaimed, jokingly. Mostly.
She handed the box back to Nicholas. "I'm done crying now. I think."

Nicholas took the box back and blew his nose, then took out another tissue and wiped his eyes, laughing at Lilianne's joke. "Good, because i don't think I was going to last much longer. Feeling better my dear?" he asked, looking hopefully that she felt better.

"Yes sir. You've been really kind to me, I'm just sad I missed the end of our... Oh no. Oh nonono!"
Lilianne jumped up from her seat in panic, nearly dropping her empty mug but catching it back after fumbling around with it for a bit like a juggler.
"I'm late for History of Magic!" She checked her watch. I missed History of Magic! Oh no oh no what do I do? She repeated to herself, forgetting who she was with, hopping around in place almost comically. She looked like the white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland.

"Lilianne-"
He saw her run about his office, worried about her classes. He raised his hand up again. "Um, Lilianne-"
He found it somewhat funny to watch at first but soon raised his voice. "Lilianne!"
He stood there, watching her with a perplexed look and simply said "I'll right you a note for professor Barnaby. It'll be alright, just calm down."
He chuckled a bit.

Lilianne froze in place when Nicholas raised his voice.
"Oh. Right... sorry."
She picked up the photograph of her family that had fallen to the floor and put it back in her robe, put the mug on the side table, then she plopped back into her seat, looking pensive again.
"Hum, Professor? I really don't want to be too much of a bother to you, and I don't want to fall behind too much in class either... As much as I've enjoyed sitting here and drinking hot chocolate and talking with you, I don't want what happenned in class to happen again... "
She looked positively terrified at the idea she was about to suggest, but she still forced herself to say it.
"...Could you curse me again? So I can get used to the feel of it? I think I'll be more able to handle it here with you than in class with other students..."

Nicholas looked to the young girl and took a breath. "Lilianne, you want to overcome that fear, correct?" he asked gently, but with a serious undertone. He fixed her with a very hard stare. "By no means do I ever want you to get used to the idea of being cursed, but if you want me to help you out, you have to promise you will listen to my instructions carefully. Alright? I don't want you to suffer because of this, you've already gone through enough."

Lilianne took a deep breath and closed her eyes for a few seconds, then returned the Professor's stare.
"Yes, Sir. I want to do this because I want to learn how to defend myself. I want to make my dad proud. I want to make you proud. I'll be good, I'll listen!"

Nicholas smiled and he took a step towards her, laying a hand on her shoulder. "You already have. Now, let's see what we can do. I want you to concentrate Lilianne. I want you to focus on you breathing and to look at something the whole time, a certain point in this room to which to look at and concentrate. Don't think about the way your body won't respond, think of the solution, not the problem. If you begin to let fear and doubt creep into you, it'll ruin the entire foundation of courage that you've built and destroy you. So, concentrate. Much like a Patronus, think of something happy."
He took a few steps back into the center of the room and drew his wand. "I'm ready when you are. I'll make it last a little longer this time."

Lilianne stood up and walked to the center of the room. She looked around looking for something to concentrate on, and her gaze stopped at the bookshelf. She walked a little closer to it, and her eyes flew over the spines.
She spotted one of her favorite books sitting on the top shelf. Thinking of the main character, a young witch that went on a great adventure on a pirate ship in the 18th century, she took a few deep breaths.
"I'm ready, Professor."

Nicholas nodded once before he cast his hand out. "Remember; focus and don't think of the spell or it's effects."
He motioned his hand with a bit of a flick and a jab and the spell came forth without an incantation. It hit Lilianne and began it's work at tightening her entire body as rigid as a board.
"Alright, Lilianne. Just breathe. Nice and easy. Keep your focus and I'll let you out of it in a few seconds." he said, his voice calm and gentle.
