Finally, she could breathe. It hurt, but she managed. She slowly turned her head to face him when Nicholas kissed her hand.
Her voice was hoarse and tiered, "Please... Hurry back I don't want you to go..."
"I'll be right back, love. You'll be alright. I'm going to find the children."
"Edward's with Shyinad..." She repeated again... "Isabelle and Vincent ran to the kitchens...What- were those things?"

If she could have, she would have screamed, instead she let out a faint whimper. The pain surged through her body and burnt like hot coals in her lungs. She tried to gasp for air. Even more tears streaked her face.
She just wanted the pain to stop, she wanted this to be over. But most of all she just wanted Nicholas to be there. She looked left and right, but all she cloud make out were lab coats and bright lights. She couldn't see him. He wasn't there. She was terrified.
Where are you? I don't want to be alone.

She lazily opened her eyes and looked to the blurred faces floating above her. Her completion was pale and ghastly, her eyes red from crying. Her breathing shallow and her skin was cold and clammy... She heard Nicholas' voice as if it echoed from afar... She answered in a whisper. "Ed- Edward...is...with...Shy-" She swallowed hard and choked... "Shyinad-"

"Actually you are not Draelynn beat you to the punch, but you are still right on time..." Her tone turned more serious and sincere. "I'm sorry to hear about your father-"

She made the student comfortable and told him to try and sleep. She turned to find the source of the sound.
Althea seemed to be in a rather good mood, pleased that people were reported to her as requested without having to chase them down. "Ah, Hello, Mr. Novim, are you here for your physical?"

The hospital wing door was open as of always welcoming all who may wish to enter. Althea was busy tending to a student who had a nasty case of the flu.

"Good to know that you've got good genes... " The doctor proceed to ask further questions about his diet and other regular habits that Draelynn might have. She jotted it all down in her file. "Do you have any questions so far?- If not we'll get to the exam."

"You've got quite the memory there, Mr. Hiammgry... But despite that, you are long over due for a check up. So, let's start with the easy part. A few questions: How old are you? Is there any history of illness in your family? Such as heart problems?"
She took notes as Draelynn spoke, glancing up at him every once in a while. She readjusted the glasses on the bridge of her nose.

"There's no need to be nervous. Just a check up. A few basic questions first though... For starters when was the last time you had a check up?"
Althea took out a brand new folder and some pre-photocopied blank forms on plain Xerox paper, definately muggle, like most of Althea's practical belongings. She clicked the button on a ball-point pen she fished out of a pocket.

"Hello, come in please, don't be shy." She waved Draelynn into her office. "come, have a seat." There was an empty chair in front of her desk.
She was just finishing up a report and tucked it away into a folder with a color code down the side of it. She flipped it over so that Draelynn couldn't see the name. She smiled warmly.

Althea posted outside her door a letter addressing all members at the staff at Hogwarts. She stuck it to the door with some good old muggle scotch-tape. It read:
Dear fellow staff members,
The purpose of this notice is to inform you that full physical exams of every Hogwarts staff member is now mandatory and is effective immediately. The reason for this is to ensure your health and by extension, the of the health of the students here at Hogwarts. Please see me in the hospital wing, at the earliest possible convenience by the end of the week.
Thank you for your time and comprehension, Dr. Althea Lannsman, M.D.
She entered her office and went about her duties, her black-footed ferret following close behind where ever she went.

"That they do." She looked at the photo presented to her. "Aw, they're so precious." She put the framed photo back on her desk. "It's rough. Nicholas would stay here during the semester, and I would work at St- Mungos. It was really hard, in the end with three kids I had no choice but to take time off... So to make things easier, I applied here. Now we all live in the castle and it's much more bearable."

She picked up the framed photo of her family on her desk and showed it to him. In the picture, Nicholas stands behind Althea, arm around her shoulder smiling proudly, the other resting on Vincent's shoulder who sports an exaggerated smile of his own. His little sister, Isabelle has her arms behind her back and smiling mischievously. Althea holds in her arms, her youngest Edward and looks to be about 6 months old at the time of the photo. The happy family stands outside on a sunny day in front of a flowering bush of some kind.
"I will. The kids are fine. Edward is growing so fast... He looks so much like his father...Vincent discovered the magic of cardboard tubes. How are yours?
