It was now finally, the very last class before the beginning of the Winter Break. Snow had not softly covered Hogwarts castle, but there had been no heavy snowfall yet. Just enough to make it plain as to which season it was.
The fireplace in the Transfiguration class room was roaring, and it's heat was absorbed by the stone of the classroom walls and floors. Students would likely immediately appreciate the warmth of the room from the chilly temperatures outdoors.
Orynn appeared to have been in class for some time already, and there was an empty mug of tea that was on his podium to suggest it. He shuffled through some papers as some students began to file in.

Arcturus walked into class with more energy than usual. It was the last class he had before Christmas!! The term was almost over! Not that he didn't like his classes, but he wasn't much of a hard worker, and didn't enjoy the increased workload that came as he advanced through the years. From what he knew it would only get worse as the years went by.

"Good morning everyone. If you expected to have a lax class today, I have no regrets in informing you there will be no such class. If you have a problem, I ask you to leave now." Orynn waited a moment, bringing his shoulders back, and drumming his fingers on his other hand's knuckles. He glared at some students who fidgeted uncomfortably under his gaze. Before long, Orynn spoke again.
"Today will be most challenging for third years, and a test on the fourth years. The fourth years will be transfiguring copies of items. Third years, will have to determine together in groups, or alone, which items, or creatures, are copies and which is real. Fourth years on the other hand, will be the ones Transfiguring the copies.
"We will be doing this in several different ways. At first the fourth years will perform the spells before the eyes of the thirds years, other times the third years will not be permitted to watch. Third year students may use their notes from past classes. Remember, the tell tale signs of Transfiguration.
"There the casters viewpoint. The traces of magic they can leave behind, take into account details, no matter how minute they might seem. A single shade of color differentiate could be the biggest indicator.
One last thing. Those third years who have exceeded my expectations this lesson, will be invited to try their best in this challenge against yours truly. Are there any questions before begin?"

Arcturus gulped. That sounded exceedingly difficult. He especially didn't like the sound of going up against Professor Orynn. He wasn't that bad at Transfiguration, but he wouldn't kid himself into thinking he had a chance against the Professor. Unfortunately, he had no questions.

After answering some of the classroom's questions, Orynn announced that they would be starting off fairly easy. All the fourth year students were asked to stand beside him, as Orynn waved his wand and moved a few off their desks so that they were pressed side by side. The long row of desks stood between the oldest in the class from the youngest. There were ten 4th years, and ten 3rd years that still sat in their desks.
Orynn walked back onto his Professor platform and found what looked like a duffel back. He opened it up and passed it to some of the Fourth year students. They were each placed side by side and were vastly different from one another, and were displayed for all to see.
There were eleven items in total, among them included; A die, a muggle pen, a hard-boiled egg, a basket, a compass, and a turtle which had no apparent intention of moving anytime soon. Orynn then told the fourth years to examine the objects that had been lain out. He then turned to the seated students
"You may too, want to inspect these items as to best recognize them afterward.

Arcturus carefully studied the motley assortment of objects. There wasn't much of rhyme or reason to them. He tried to get as many of the small details of them as possible. He wished he knew which one he'd have to know about, so he could focus on it, but he supposed it was a good exercise in observance at least.

Orynn asked all the Third years to go back and stand next to their desks. He then seemed to pause, realizing he had forgotten something. He scratched his head in repressed fury at himself. He then sighed, and aptly plucked a hair from the male student standing next to him.
"Ow!" The boy protested, to which Orynn paid no mind. Orynn let the strand of hair fall in front of him, whipped out his wand and waved at it.
"Res Rei Verto!" It was difficult to see the strand of hair to begin with, but now it was a bright dark purple color and was getting bigger and thinner and... flappier? Orynn had transfigured the hair into a rather long piece of velvet which, through his wand's direction, had moved so that to hid all the items from the third year's eyes. They were all stil lvisible to Orynn and the fourth years however, who were all standing on the opposite end of the tables.
From behind the cloth, Orynn waved his wand and hand out and it produced a lot of scuffling noises. He hand magically moved all the items onto one desk, and now he pointed with his wand at one. All of the students beside him nodded, understanding. With another wave, he moved all the items to different places; shuffling them.
Each fourth year casted an Inanimate Transfiguration spell at the item set before them. They each got one chance, and some seemed very content while others were every displeased. Orynn shuffled the items around again the same way he had before, and then finally lifted the piece of silk acting as a shield.
On each of the desks sat a compass, making eleven in total. Six of which, did not point north.
