It had been nearly a week since the complicated day of the duel that had been held in the great hall. Today marked the day where Orynn would have to confront the consequences of his action.
He walked with the heir of someone who knew exactly what was ahead of him, and the souls of his shoes hit the stone floors of the castle hard. The sound echoing in and down the enchanted staircase. He reached the bottom and spotted the gargoyle that signaled the Headmistress's office.
"Firewhiskey." He waved his arm in the air as if he could telekinetically throw the stone statue out of his way.
He ascended the stairs and reached the door, he could only hope that Elsbeth was pulling in the hours over the weekend. He rapped upon the door with a closed fist.

Elsbeth was cooped up in her office, not doing much of anything. It was a Sunday afternoon and she was merely relaxing in her comfortable chair with a mug of hot chocolate.
At the sound of a knock on her office doors, she gently set her mug down on her desk, and called out to the person behind the closed doors. "Come in!"

Orynn opened the door, leaning on his cane as he opened the door wide. "Good day Elsbeth." He nodded curtly to her, and he stepped inside. "Am I disturbing you?"

"Oh no, not at all. Please come in." She said. Then catching sight of Orynn's cane she added, "Sit down; make yourself comfortable."
"What can I do for you?"

Orynn resisted the urge to roll his eyes. He certainly hopped that he wasn't going to be treated like some worthless cripple while he had possession of his newly bought cane.
He walked over to a chair that was identical to the one the Headmistress currently sat in. He put a lot of his weight on the cane as he leaned back and sat in it. He was pleasantly surprised, these chairs were indeed very comfortable.
"You had requested an audience with me." He reminded her.

"Might I be able to offer you a mug of hot chocolate? It's a bit chilly today." she said, raising her own mug in inquiry.
"Yes, I suppose I did." Thinking a little, Elsbeth paused for a moment. Gathering her wits, she continued.
"I was hoping to better understand what happened at the duel the other day. And to hear your side without other parties around."

"Please" the deputy responded to the offer of drink. It was a bit nippy in the castle, and a hot drink would do him some good. Not to mention, he was a sucker for dark chocolate.
Orynn did not fidget with his cane as most would. He set it down, and with his hand balancing upon it, there it stayed as he pondered Elsbeth's last question.
"What is it exactly that you would like my insight on?" His tone was very calm, unintrusive, and that of one simply wanting to understand the question. In truth, Orynn was after something a little more.

Next to Elsbeth's own mug of hot chocalate appeared another just like it, with the flick of her wand. She passed it to Orynn, before she began speaking.
"Simply put, I want to hear your version of things. Why things are the way they are between you and Sir Nicholas. And also, why you acted the way you did during this recent duel."

Orynn accepted the drink given to him, and took a sip from it immediately. The warm chocolate running down his throat. It was tasty, but Orynn always preferred darker chocolate to milk chocolate. No matter, he'd have to do with what had been given to him. He stared into the swirling liquid for a time, before raising his eyes to stare at the Headmistress.
"The Knight, as he so calls himself, directly assaulted me physically. I thought him, like any other self-respecting magic-wielder, would not resort to such barbaric methods in a wizards duel. It was completely uncalled for and horribly insulting. Losing that battle is not the point, the fact of the matter is he broke the laws of wizard-dueling when he raised his fist against me. He showed then that he has little reverence for the magical arts, and continues to communicate those ideals every time he carries his weapon about. In my opinion, brutes such as he aren't to be trusted. It just so happens, that I do not like him for the same reasons."
Orynn had said all this with no emotion. No hissing or seething at the mention of the Head of Gryffindor's name, and nothing to hint that the topic was the least bit awkward. There was still another question to answer, but Orynn took his time for now. In case Elsbeth had anything to say before he continued.

"So, if I understand you correctly," she said, tilting her head to the side in the process, "You do not like Sir Nicholas because he uses Muggle methods of fighting, and because the sword he carries around with him only alludes to those methods which you don't particularly like. Furthermore, it is also the usage of such methods against you that sparks this dislike..."
"Alright. That's very interesting, Orynn. But did Sir Nicholas physically assault you without any prior provocation?"

Orynn resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Believing his was misunderstood.
"Ms. Pierce, let me clarify something. You make me sound like a common muggle-hater, which imparts on me very little worth which I cannot say I appreciate. I hold non-magic folk no ill will. They excel in their departments, as do wizard in witches in our own. I will not pretend to know how to drive, or repair machinery, or use what they call a... a... laundromat. They have their part in the world, and they serve those roles to the best of their abilities."
"I have a strong faith in that each individual should remain a part of their own world. To dabble in the other, and attempt to combine the two together will only bring much confusion and peril to the delicate fabrics in which we all live in. There's a good reason why it's called 'Defence against the Dark Arts' and not 'Defence Against the Dark Arts and Muggle Weaponry.'"
Orynn closed his eyes for a moment, inhaling and exhaling deeply. Such was a topic he believed in vehemently. This was not the place to become overtly vocal about it though, he calmed himself and continued.
"As for the other matter. If I did provoke the knight, it was done inadvertently. I was there that day, in his classroom, by request of the Professor. By the same Professor's request I dueled the students with spells I knew they could never defend against. Was it fair? Certainly not, but the goal of the exercise was not meant to be fair, or just. It was meant to teach, and impart humility."
As you witnessed the other day, I apologized for my behaviour then. I was over zealous, and pompous in the way I reveled in my staged glory. I have become humble myself since then."
Orynn spoke statements of fact. He did not speak out of his defence, for he had committed no crime in his eyes.

"Very well, then, Orynn. I did not mean to imply that you had anything against Muggles. I apoligize."
Elsbeth sighed, she figured he would answer this way. She would not bring up Nicholas's recount of the story, for he obviously had his reasons for leaving ot key factors.
"Is there anything to be done to ensure that your mutual dislike for one another does not become a problem on school gorunds in the near future?"

Orynn solemnly shrugged his shoulders.
"I can only give my word that I will not instigate anything with the man again. Far from it from me, however, to guarantee the same for him." Orynn already knowing full well that she had likely spoken to Nicholas already, and therefore had all the reassurance she needed that there would be no repeat performance.

"Thank you, Orynn. It is greatly appreciated." she nodded in agreeance, and smiled reassuringly.
"Do you need anything? We've finished what I needed to discuss with you." Elsbeth asked, before she would dismiss him.
