As Althea wondered the halls of the school on her lunch break back to her and Nicholas's chambers she heard the the students talking that DADA class was canceled today. Immediately she began theorizing as to why... The ministry called? No, he'd better no of- Hogwarts official business? Perhaps? Field trip- No he would have said something...
She approached the chamber door and fished out of her trusty white apron a brass key which she slipped into the key hole, unlocking the door. She opened the door with care and stepped inside the entrance.
There was a roaring fire in the living room's fireplace and she could hear her children giggling from down the corridor. She noted that the blanket that was usually on the sofa was missing. She followed the laughter into the master bed room.
She found Isabelle bouncing on her and Nicholas's 4 poster bed and Vincent was content at whacking what looked like a large pile of blankets and comforters with a cardboard tube. She could have sworn she heard the pile moan...
Althea placed her hands firmly on her hips. "Isabelle, Vincent- what are you doing?"
"Playing whif daddy." Replied Isabelle, who continued to bounce at the foot of the bed. Which made her realize who the lump on the bed was... "Vincent, stop hitting your father, this instant. Where are those elves?... Isabelle, stop bouncing, honey..." Althea scooped up Isabelle and put her on the floor and grabbed the paper tube from Vincent's grasp after he managed one more good "whack!"
"Nick- What's going on?"

The pile of blankets moaned once more when Vincent managed that last whack. Nicholas' muffled voice came from the pile a few seconds after Althea asked what was going on.
"Is it safe to come out yet?" the pile asked, sounding somewhat apprehensive of shedding the protective layer of the voice locked inside.

"Go play in your room kids." Althea guided them to the door, and off they went. "Yeah it's safe now..." She pulled some of the blankets back to try and get a peak of the mound that is her husband..."Are you ok under there?"

Nicholas' black hair was dishevelled and splayed about everywhere beneath the blankets as he looked up, squinting. He sniffed a bit, looking tired and slightly puffy eyed. "I think I might have caught something." he said, his nose very much congested. He sneezed. "Sorry. I was going to tell you tonight after you finished your work in the Hospital Wing. Thought I'd spend some time with the kids."
He kinda chuckled a bit as he rubbed his forehead. "Boy's getting stronger. Skull's not as thick as it used to be, I guess."

She shook her head, "I'll get you some Pepper-up potion...You must have got it from one of the students... They're all in my office sniffling these days. Drafty castles will do that... You know, he learned that from you... Maybe he'll make a fine beater on the Quidditch team someday..."

"I wouldnt be surprised if he made the big leagues one day. He's one hell of a carboard tube samurai as it is." he muttered as he lay back down. "I'd love some pepper up please. I'd ask for a kiss but I feel as gross as geoduck."
A hand of his reached out from under the blanket and touched her leg. "Why you here on your break? You usually stay in your office or go to the Hall for some food."

"A geo-what?..." She stuck her hand out to fell his forehead and unsurprisingly found that Nicholas had a fever. "You're burning up... I'll bring you some potion, get myself something to eat in the Hall, and come back here as soon as I can... Meanwhile, try not to cover yourself so much."

Nicholas began to nod before his gaze drifted up to the door. He pulled the blanket up to his face almost to shield himself as he pointed to the door. "What if he comes back?"
Vincent was peering into the room from the door, smiling mischieviously.

"Vincent. Honey, daddy doesn't want to play right now, he's sick... He'll play with you tomorrow. Go on, now. Go play with your sister." She shooed him away.
"Awww, but mummy-" Vincent complained.
"Not now, maybe if daddy's feeling better, later."
The five year old wondered off. "I'll be back. I won't be long, promise... Think you could stomach some food. I'll get you a soup or a sandwich or something?"

"I think a soup would be wonderful." he said, looking a little green at the mention of a sandwich. "Thank you love."
A distinct whack was heard from the living room followed by Isabelle's yell of "Oww!" before she began to cry. Nicholas looked to Althea.
"He really means business, doesn't he?"

"I really don't approve at how violent he's getting... He watches everything you do, you know... Come to think of it, we should keep our wands safe somewhere when we're asleep... Sooner or later curiosity will get the better of them... I'm really more afraid they'll break them..." She sighed heavily, "I'll go break up the fight and come back with lunch and that Pepper-up potion...Just sit tight."
