Dónall looked up at his Head of House, and answered in earnest. "Well, sir, I don't know exactly what it is that I really want to do. My father wants me to take on the family business, but I have no interest in doing so. Aside from that, I was fancying maybe a job with the ministry, as a curse breaker or something of the sort."
He maintained eye contact. "I suppose I still have some time to figure all that out."

Dónall almost smiled as the professor Novim realized he was sitting there. Almost.
"Yes, sir, I wished to speak to you regarding the duel. Despite the fact that you didn't quite beat that Gryffie, I just wanted you to know that I... well I'm sure the rest of Slytherin House as well... I think if given the chance you could've won that duel. You are truly a master of Transfiguration..."
He paused, feeling a little awkward with the words that had come out of his mouth. Was that admiration? And a hint of emotion? It couldn't be...
"Err, glad to see you're doin' alright."

Dónall arrived to class a few moments early, for he had been in the library reading a book, rather than in his preivous class, learning.
As he walked into the Transfiguration classroom he noticed that he was not the only person who had decided to be early that day.
"Professor." he said, with a curt nod in the man's direction. Not wanting to disturb the relaxing man, Don simply sat at his desk, waiting for the students to start trickling in. He busied himself with a quill and parchment from his carry-on bag.

Donall finished his note taking just as the professor finished speaking. It was time to move on to the practical portion of the class.
He picked up one of his bowls, and brought it with him as he walked to where the two glass cases stood. He ended up with a bowl full of soil; he figured it would be easier for him to transfigure the solid element into the non-solid one.
Placing his bowl on his desk, he sat down and reviewed his notes from the past classes, in order to hoose the right incantation for this transfiguration. Elemental Transfiguration is similar to Animate Transfiguration, because elements are always moving and changing. So, he should be using the incantation for Animate Transfiguration.
Finally deciding on a spell, he began the process of transfiguration of elements.
He cleared his mind as best as he could, and pictured the bowl of soil in his mind. He watched as the grains of dirt mixed together to form one glob of brown and liquify, slowly. As the dirt liquified, it's color began to fade, ending as a clear liquid, water.
"Humi Verto!" he said, with a swish and flick of his wand. The end result was almost exactly as he had imagined in his head, though the water was not fully clear - it had a brown tint to it.
He wasn't disappointed; that was pretty close and very good for a first attempt.

Dónall was surprised at the professor's reaction, but pleased that he had gained his House some points. They were in the negatives these days and it was really not very fun.
He took notes, paying attention to the professor's words instead of worrying about the students around him.

Dónall had tried his best to ignore the snickers and comments, but as it became too much to handle, the professor took care of it for him by quieting down his Housemates.
He was relieved, and hoped that they would just start class already so he could lose himself in the task they were sure to be performing.

Dónall walked into Transfiguration with a quick glance behind him to be sure that his Housemates weren't following too close behind him.
Once sure they were nowhere near, he plopped down into a front row seat, and placed his bag on the desk right in front of him, making sure not to knock over the two wooden bowls.
He nodded to the professor, in greeting, and then took out his parchment and quill to prepare for the day's lesson.
As he sat and waited, the rest of his Housemates arrived, sending glares in his direction. Thye had heard about the duel to come between himself and Anthony Corenthos. It was the talk of the Slytherin House.

Don thought for a moment before writing down his response.
He decided, since nobody else would know what was written, that he would write something extra for the professor's eyes only.
He scratched with his quill, and ended up with a few choice words. Move on, for now... And, thank you, Professor, for more than you know.
Maybe some day soon he would be more honest with Sir Lannsmann, and clue him in on certain... things about himself. It was really due to the professor's pushing that he had started to change, though Merlin knows why he had let it happen. Maybe...
Shaking his head slightly, Don folded up his piece of parchment and brought it over to the knight's desk. He placed it down, without looking at the professor.

Don listened avidly, trying to take in as much as he could. However, it was such a heavy subuject, that he didn't really get so much out of it as he would have liked.
As the profesor addressed him, though, he grew more attentive, and then answered Sir Lannsmann's question as honestly as he could. "It's all just so much to take in, Sir... I'm afraid I have no thoughts on the topic just yet."

Dónall struggled with this new concept. He had never known of the tragedies to befall the Muggle world at that time, nor had he known much about the beliefs and views behind it.
He asked a question. "But how can it be that these things could happen in the Muggle world and the Wizarding world? Did anybody try to stop them?"
Morality was not Don's strong point, but this class it suited him, for he was indeed intrigued by these events, and confused as to how they could have been allowed to happen on such a large-scale level.

Dónall had never learned anything about Muggle history; his father deemed it unworthy and not something that his son should be learning. Given that, he was, unfortunately, unable to answer the question.
He looked around the classroom, in wonder, hoping someone had the answer. He was genuinely curious, as this was a subject of which he knew nothing.

Don looked at Nicole out of the corner of his eye as he picked up the quill she had dropped on his desk. He didn't say anything, not even a word of gratitude.
He turned back to his parchment and quickly began writing notes on all he had just heard discussed. As he finished his last word, the professor asked a question. He would have answered the question, but he had been so busy writing the notes that he didn't really know if he knew the answer or not.
Someone else would answer, surely.

"Blast!" he hissed under his breath. He turned slightly to face the Gryffindor prefect and simply said "Yes." Nothing more, nothing less.

Don shuffled uncomfortably in his seat as the students around him greeted him amiably. He didn't answer them, but simply stared ahead, ignoring their friendly gestures.
As the professor began speaking, he rummaged through his bag for a parchment and his favorite quill, but only came up with a parchment. As he noticed this, he cursed, quietly. "Bollocks!"
He set his parchment down and leaned back in his chair again, crossing his arms over his chest, still paying attention to the professor even though he had no means of note-taking.

Don watched the professor interact with the arriving students, not moving his gaze until a girl asked if she could sit down next to him.
He looked at the girl, then at the professor, then back to the girl. He simply shrugged and moved his bag to the other side of his desk, to give her room to sit down.
He stared straight ahead, ignoring the Gryffindor brunette.
