Nicholas made it back to his seat and quickly began to grab plates of roast beef, potatoes, gravy and several other hearty foodstuffs in his direction before Shellivia asked him about his family. Calmly, he looked to his sputtering wife, tapping her on the back to make sure she'd be alright.
"There's nothing to worry about sweetheart. It's just a duel, and I can handle myself. I've fought people who have tried to kill me before. The worst he'll do is cheat and try to humiliate me in front of the student body and faculty. It'll be alright." he said. Without skipping a beat, he turned a beaming smile to Shellivia. "And as far as my herd is concerned, allow me to introduce them to you."
He pointed to the oldest, curly haired youth. "This is my oldest, Vincent. That young lady there is Isabelle, and this growing boy over here-" he said as he wiggled some fingers to his youngest baby boy. "is Edward. Everyone, I'd like you to meet one of Daddy's friends, Shellivia."
"Hello Shellvia." Vincent said, grinning.
"Hi, Shellavia!" Isabelle exclaimed, waving furiously.
Edward giggled.

Zea stared rather forlornly into her plate. She pushed her food around, not really hungry now.
Poor Harry, she thought. I can remember going to school with him, though I was in third year when he graduated... he always had so much on his plate. I wonder how his wife and children are faring...

Althea almost glared at her husband, now throughly giving up on the idea that he might actually properly introduce her. Slightly annoyed that he seemed to have forgotten all about her existence, as he skipped over her to introduce their children first.
She deliberately extend a hand towards Shellevia, cutting across Nicholas's plate instead of arcing behind his chair, keeping him momentarily from his meat and potatoes.
"Hi, I'm Dr. Althea Lannsman, it's a pleasure to finally meet you." She said politely to the centaur, despite being rude about cutting Nicholas off from his food.
She sat back down after shaking hands with Shellevia.

And to think I didn't want the children to get impatient about being introduced. I suppose there goes giving Shellivia some time to process the introductions and indulge the children for a moment.
Nicholas sighed and fixed his wife with a pleading look. "I was going to save the best for last, but I guess the bludger's already out of the box."
He finished pushing the plate the rest of the way away from him so she could wouldn't chance dipping her robe sleeves in gravy, but she moved on ahead to introduce herself. "My wife was a Medical Witch at St.Mungo's for the passed few years and also studied Muggle medicine as well. She's certified, as it goes. She was also a Ravenclaw student herself while she came to school here, but I'll let you two go on ahead to talk..."
He folded his hands over his lap as a guilty expression formed on his face.

Post by Lysistrata [Lie] Legendre on Nov 17, 2007 12:28:58 GMT -5
deep in the dark you'll surrender your heart
Lie merely stared at the occupants of the Great Hall around her, pretty much unmoving. She wasn't shy, not in the least bit, but she was never social outside her father's formal parties. A sigh escaped the half-vampire's lips, as her thoughts meandered without any particular direction. She knew that her secret would have to be kept, but some big families would know it, seeing as her father was one of those and associated with them. Her pale hands moved to her hair, removing a strand from her face... it was a habit in which she obtained ever since youth. Her hands traveled from her hair to her lap, somewhat shivering from the unusual warmth around this place. Some might find this quite unnerving, someone shivering from warmth, but Lie was the complete opposite of anyone classified as: normal. A vampire is one of the differences and that's for sure. Tilting her head for mere moments, she had no craving for food now whatsoever, in fact, she couldn't recall the last time she ever did have. Now, her line of gaze traveled from the table upwards, towards the enchanted cieling above her, awed by how realistic it seemed and how it was somewhat reflecting her mood. The moon shimmered slightly froom behind the clouds, as Lie's gaze was officially stuck to the cieling. A sigh escaped her lips yet again, as she glanced back around the table she was seated in. Not wanting to meet anyone's gaze, she quickly glanced down. There seemed to be the four tables, emitted by different colors, shining throughout the Great Hall. Lie somewhat slumped in her seat, wanting to hide in the darkness as she seated herself farther. She disliked associating with anyone, and she surely wouldn't start right now in doing as such. but you know but you know that you can't fight the moonlight

Kel looked over to the Gryffindor table, easily finding Stevie. He was the only one who wasn't interacting happily with his House-mates. Stevie was just sitting quietly, looking unhappy. Kel wished there was something she could do; he looked so lonely and small. So she got up and went over to sit with him. "Hi again!" She said, smiling.

"Oh, hi." He said, with slight enthusiasm, still eating slowly. His prairie dog peeked out of his pocket, and quickly went back to sleep. It was obviously really tired.
"Maybe we'll at least have some classes together? Or... Study halls or something?" He said, hopefully. He had to try to look at the bright side. Maybe she would be allowed to sit here for now? Maybe. He doubted it in the pit of his stomach, but was happy for this momentary opportunity.

"Oh, totally. I mean, the Gryffindors are usually with Slytherins, but they have a good amount of classes with the Hufflepuffs, too, and we'll see each other at meals and stuff. And we can meet on weekends and sometimes between classes, if there's enough time. We'll be fine, really!" Kel smiled reassuringly. She also wanted to get to know her year-mates, but Stevie needed a friend right now. She would make sure either that he got one, or be that friend until he made one. And hopefully, she would also stay a friend.

"...Oooh. They do the whole you-have-weekends-off thing here? I've never been to a school like this. I mean, like sleeping here and stuff. Awesome!" Stevie grinned. He loved weekends.
(Sorry for the short post. A little lack of inspiration right now.)

Neoma was stuffed. She couldn't believe how good the food had been. She hadn't paid attention to much of her surroundings, and noticed the girl that she had deliberately sat next to had got up and left. To sit by Stevie no less.
Neoma smiled, as she sat up from her spot and plunked herself in the seat across from Stevie. "The Sorting wasn't so bad." She stated. Then she realized that Stevie had been sorted in a house other than Kel and herself. Maybe he didn't agree with her then... she tried to recover.
"..right?"

"...Well..." He thought, trying to look at the bright side.
"At least we're not on Slytherin," he stated, feeling slightly better about the sorting. And hey, Neoma and Keladry were together. At least it turned out good for them. And Stevie was BOUND to make friends. Right? Hopefully. If Stevie WAS on Slytherin... Stevie would probably never speak to anyone on his house. Ever. Then he'd be the creepy, quiet kid- the polar opposite of the real Stevie.

Elsbeth had been eating her dinner quietly, mulling over what she had agreed to do with the new Flying Instructor. She had agreed to go out with him at the first Hogmseade weekend of the term! What in Merlin's world had she gotten herself into?
Aesir had since ignored her, leaving her to her own thoughts. At this point, however, Elsbeth noticed that her Deputy Headmaster, too, was quite quiet, so she turned to him and struck up a conversation with her colleague.
"Orynn, thank you so much," she said with a smile. "The Sorting went wonderfully. You handled things very well."

Neoma stretched her neck high, looking over at the Slytherin table. They all looked somewhat odd. Some were pompous, others pale, and some were a tad bit overweight. All in all, they all had a degree of nastiness about them. Neoma had the inclination not to judge the whole green dressed house, but it was sort of difficult not to.
"Yea... I guess you are right." As she settled back down into her seat. She yawned audibly, and rested her cheek onto her propped up hand and elbow. Eating always made her tired.

Orynn had been quietly enjoying his dinner. He had done his duty for the evening, and as far as he was concerned, he could've up and dismissed himself and there wasn't anything anyone could have done. Alas, his stomach had not allowed it.
He was in the midst of bringing a fork full of mashed taters to his mouth when his neighbor had spoken his name. He set his fork down a looked over to the smiling Headmistress. Apparently, small chatter was another one of his... duties tonight. Without returning the warm smile, he nodded towards her in acknowledgment.
"Many thanks, Elsbeth. The same to you, your speech was very well delivered." Compliments from Orynn Novim were rare indeed, but they never failed to sound rehearsed.

Elsbeth blushed slightly; this was her first year as Headmistress, after all. "You're very welcome"
She looked down at her plate and picked up her fork. She began swirling her food around slowly, mixing all the different colors together. Looking up from her food, she continued.
"So, this duel... I trust my Deputy and Gryffindor Head won't completely destroy each other, am I correct?"
