Lilianne peeked back from Nicholas's shirt and saw that the doctors were calming down around Althea.
She calmed down a tiny bit, and looked up at Nicholas. He didn't look right.
In fact his expression was probably the scariest thing Lilianne had had to face that night.
"Sir?... Professor... I think... I think you should go see your children. Please."
Releasing him from her hold, she grabbed his arm instead, using all her willpower to force her legs to move and try to nudge her head of house towards the exit.

He didn't know what was happening now. Althea...what was going to happen to her? He should have gotten to her in time. It's his fault. She was dying. He couldn't protect her. He hadn't gotten there in time. He was going to lose her. She was going to die.
Leave him like his father.
"Sir?... Professor... I think... I think you should go see your children. Please."
Father. His children. He and Althea's children. They needed their father. He needed to get to them.
The world seemed to come back to him. He heard the Doctor with the cane congratulate the man taking care of his wife.
She was going to be alright.
Their children wouldn't be if he didn't get moving. Children. The students! They needed him too.
Strength seemed to course into him as he felt a tug at his arm; Lilianne was trying to drag him forward.
That was all he needed.
With his foot, he kicked up his cloak and snatched it with his right hand, rubbed his face and flung it over one shoulder. Then, he leaned forward and picked up Lilianne and scooped her up in his arms to carry her with him. His determination seemed to rush back into him like a floodgate had been opened.
"What're we waiting for then." he said, offering her the slightest of brave smiles. He moved towards Althea's bed and kneeled beside it quickly to kiss her hand.
"I'll be right back, love. You'll be alright. I'm going to find the children." he said, his voice much stronger than it had been. Why should he be worried? Things were going to be alright.

Finally, she could breathe. It hurt, but she managed. She slowly turned her head to face him when Nicholas kissed her hand.
Her voice was hoarse and tiered, "Please... Hurry back I don't want you to go..."
"I'll be right back, love. You'll be alright. I'm going to find the children."
"Edward's with Shyinad..." She repeated again... "Isabelle and Vincent ran to the kitchens...What- were those things?"

"I don't know love, but they've stopped. They're not going to hurt anyone anymore. I'll get the children, put them to bed, and be right back. I'll stay with you all night if I have to, Althea. I'll send Gwydion to contact your parents to see if they can take them in for a bit. I need to make sure the other children are alright too, the students." he said, as softly and kindly as possible. He managed to sneak one hand forawrd to squeeze it gently then bring it to his lips to kiss her ring. "I'll be back, just rest up for now. I'll be here for you."
He began to stand up again.

"Ok."She said meekly. "Please hurry...Tell the doctors thank you..."
She closed her eyes. She was exhausted. She felt safe now that she was being watched and that she could rest without worry of never waking up... She thought of Isabelle, the Gryffindor student.
I hope she made it...
Althea fell asleep.

Zea smiled at the scene in front of her. Everything was working out all right.
"Neville and I will look after the students for tonight. You go set your family to rights, and don't worry. Neville was a Gryffindor, he knows how to take care of them."
She touched Nicholas on the shoulder.
"Everything will be all right. You'll see. Lilianne, I'll drop you off at the Gryffindor common room. Neville should be there soon."

Elsbeth nodded at Zea, "Yes, I'll get on that right away."
She looked around the room, happy that the patients were all in stabilized condition. She thanked the St Mungos staff, and wished the patients well, and then made her way to her office to send a few owls.
Tuesday night dinner was supposed to be mundane and routine, not a battle ground for strange creatures. It had been a very odd night.

Nicholas stood back up and looked to Zea, still holding Lilianne. He smiled, touched with her words but he shook his head.
"Really, I appreciate it Zea, and I'm sorely tempted to accept. But I've already told my students I'm on my way. I have a duty to them as well, and they need me now just as much as my own children." he said softly, his eyes flicking to Lilianne for a split second. "Although, my own children do come first in the-"
The silvery Patronus arrived in the Hospital Wing and slowly trotted towards Nicholas.
"Nicole Wood has both Isabelle and Vincent under her care in the Gryffindor Common Room." it said in a gentle and deep voice, vaguely reminiscent of Nicholas'.
"What about Syhinad?"
"I told him to head to the Common Room. He refused."
Nicholas frowned. "What? Why?"
"Because I just got here. Silly to take such a roundabout route to return back to this point wouldn't it?" Syhinad exclaimed as he came in through the doors. Nicholas let out a heavy sigh of relief at seeing his youngest boy.
"Is he alright? Did everything-"
"Yes, yes and more than likely, another pre-emptive yes. He'll still be here when you get back.I heard the chatter about the Common Room for your House. Go. Besides, I'll stay here for now. With an expert Charms wizard like myself here, I doubt anything can possibly go awry."
Nicholas reached out with one hand and gently ran two fingers across Edwards sleeping features. He nodded quickly.
"Alright. I'm going to my office, then heading to the Common Room. I'll be back here as quickly as I can." Nicholas said as he looked to Zea.

Lilianne was a bit guiltily relieved when Nicholas turned down Zea's offer to take her to her common rooms. She didn't really want to leave her perch for the moment. She felt safer than she had all night.
She looked back over Nicholas' shoulder at her still unconscious sister until she lost sight of her as they left.
She rested her head down and remained quiet, her eyes still leaking but not sobbing much anymore.

Nicholas fished around and grabbed his wand as he shifted Lilianne into holding her with his other arm. He pointed his wand at Lilianne's leg and quickly muttered "Navi onus."
Lilianne can feel the pulse of magic tingle throughout her body and her body feeling light as a feather. Nicholas pointed the wand at himself and proceeded to do the same upon himself.
"We need to get going. Lilianne, hold onto me dear. Zea, maybe you should stay here and make sure that the others are alright." Nicholas said looking to the other bedridden injured. He began to move swiftly away. "Off we go, then."

Syhinad turned watching him go, and sighed a deep sigh, looking a little weary but none too bad. He turned to Althea and the other's preasent.
"How is everyone here."
His tone was slightly more serious, and his airy nature of being somewhat off on cloud nine slowly disappeared.
"Should I perhaps be making checks around the castle to see how the rest of the people are doing Headmistress?"

Later that evening, Nicholas comes back into the Hospital Wing with his two children and Lilianne in tow. A small group of older Gryffindors leaves them to the Hospital Wing and head back on their own to the Gryffindor Common room, wands drawn and ever watchful.
Nicholas also looks for Syhinad and his son.

Lilianne looked up to Nicholas after their escorting students had left.
"Thank you for letting me come back, Sir."
She walked back to her sister's side, dropping her bag at the side of the bed and pushed a chair next to the bed. She sat on it, looking over her sister.
Isabelle was still lying on her stomach. She appeared to be sleeping soundly. Her wounds were dressed and though she still looked pale, her cheek seemed warmer to the touch than before.
After staring at her for some time, Lilianne reached into her bag and took a hairbrush out of it, setting herself to work untangling Isabelle's hair, being very careful not to pull on it.

Syhinad is slumped slightly against a corner, his head nodding off a moment only to return ever watchful, before resuming his small slouch. He blinks tiredly but is watching Nicholas' youngest son, who is currently with his mother.

Nicholas walks over to the sleepy professor and gently shakes his shoulder.
"Syhinad...Syhinad? You should probably get yourself to bed." Nicholas says gently trying to wake the man.
