Althea lay on her side as not to put pressure on the bandaged wounds on her back. She cradled Edward in her arms in the hospital bed with whatever strength she had. The baby fussed and cried, he was obviously hungry, never having had the opportunity to eat dinner.
"Please... Edward, don't fuss... I can't feed you right now..." She was exasperated... She didn't understand why Shyinad gave Edward to her- she was in no condition to be taking care of a fussy baby.
She was thankful that Edward was perfectly fine, other than being hungry, and that Shyinad had gotten him to saftey. She wondered about her other children. Last time she saw them they were running to the kitchens to hide... She was happy to see Nicholas again, but frowned when she saw him suited up in his Auror gear.
"Where are you going now?", she asked over the cries of her youngest.

Nicholas looked back to Althea and took a few quick steps over to her, kneeling beside her bed.
"You're awake! Thank god..." he began, gently taking her hand and kissing it. "I'm not going anywhere. I'm settling in for the night and tying up loose ends, making sure everyone is alright."
Nicholas took a long gaze at Althea, smiling as his eyes watered. "I'm so happy you're alright."

He looked up and shook his head, and only gave Althea her youngest because he was sort of out of it for a second, quickly he would have taken Edward back, and taken his seat again before Nicholas and Althea were together.
"I'll be fine Nicholas, thanks."
He waves his wand, conjuring a bottle, giving a slight look to Althea to make sure it's okay, given the okay from her he'd proceed to feed him, rocking slowly in the chair, still tired, but renewed with a vigor.

"Thank you, Shyinad, for your help, I really appreciate it." He let him take the Edward.
Her attention turned back to Nicholas, "I lost my wand back there- I dropped it, before that thing..., "She searched for the right term, "clawed me"
She looked around for her other children, "Vincent and Isabelle... Are they alright...? ... Is the Ravenclaw girl alright?... The one I was helping?"
Her head swimmed, and she winced- "I think I'm repeating myself."

Nicholas smiled a little wider.
"No, you're not. The students are safe, as is Aesir. Already hitting on the doctors, so I hear. Vincent and Isabelle are in the Hospital wing, down at the other end. I set up some beds for them and put up a screen. I wanted all of us close by." Nicholas explained, sticking out his pinky for Edward to toy with. "You should probably rest up. I'll be here, right beside you. If you ever need anything, let me know."

Done fixing Isabelle's hair, Lilianne looked over at the Lannsmans. It looked like Dr. Lannsman was awake, and Nicholas was talking with her.
Lilianne looked back at her sleeping sister. She felt the urge to stir her, to wake her up just so that she could hear her voice, just to be reassured that she would be okay.
But with the gravity of her wounds, she understood that Isabelle needed her rest, and waking her up might cause unneeded pain. So Lilianne resisted the urge, gently stroking her hair for a moment, before she pulled her chair closer to the bed and rested her head down next to Isabelle, staring at the Lannsmans in silence.

She smiled. "You are right, I should get some more rest...But why are the kids so far away?"
There was a series of soft squeaking noises that only became audible once the black-footed ferret got closer to Althea's bed. It climbed up the metal posts of the hospital bed and found it's way in between Althea and Nicholas. Hermes stood on his hind legs and licked Althea's cheek.
"Oh hello Hermes... I knew you'd find me... if I were you I'd hide... these other doctors aren't all that tolerant of pets in the hospital wing..." She stoked his head with a shaky hand and nudged him to move. He jumped onto Nicholas' lap.

Nicholas offered a weak smile to Althea, running a hand across Hermes. His gauntleted hand shielded him from actually feeling anything.
"The kids are so far away so that they can let you rest, and don't have to see you like this. And as for Hermes, I'll protect him too." Nicholas said, the evening finally catching up to him with the crushing weight of weariness. The adrenaline, the fear, the magic left his body, left him weary to the bone. He slid his chair alongside the bed so that he could somewhat, if not awkwardly, lean on the bed some, holding Edward in one arm, Hermes on his lap and Althea's hand in his other. Stifling a yawn, he managed to say, "I think some rest might be in order."

Hearing what Dr. Lannsman told her pet, Lilianne whispered to the hedgehog hidding in her hood.
"Hear that, Dins? You should probably stay where you are..."
She kept her head down on the bed as she resumed observing Nicholas watching over his beloved wife, and it wasn't long before she fell asleep right where she was.

Post by Madame Minka Davinmir on Feb 14, 2008 23:23:18 GMT -5
The red furred marten entered first followed my Minka, followed by Melissa. She hoped that someone would notice the poor girl soon enough, so that she wouldn't have to stand there all evening.
The blood from Mel's hand trickled down her forearm and she was looking rather pale. Melissa looked around the room at the chaos at hand, and was thankful that she escaped rather unscathed by comparison. Her eyes widened when the doctors rushed to Althea and quickly looked the other way when she caught a glimpse of a syringe.
Minka motioned to a nearby chair for Melissa to sit down on, which, she did. Both the professor and the student waited impatiently to be seen by a doctor, or at least a nurse.
Mel wanted the pain to stop.
Minka wanted to leave as quickly as possible to avoid the Hogwarts staff as much as possible. She needed to speak with someone else about the matters at hand...

The doctor with the cane limped over to where the girl was bleeding on the floor.
"You're bleeding on the floor," he said. "I suppose it's probably smart if we do something about that. This might hurt a bit."
He took a pair of forceps and pulled the glass out, quickly. Then he pulled out his wand.
He began muttering an incantation to close the worst of the wound before she began bleeding worse.
"Does anyone have any Essence of Murtlap kicking around?" he yelled.
"Kinda busy, Castle!" Hunt yelled.
"What's the point of having you ducklings if I have to do everything myself?"
"You wanna come over here and do this? I'll gladly trade," Dr. Tyhee responded. "You can be hit on by Professor Amorous over here." He gestured to the man who was now sleeping peacefully, due to being heavily medicated. Tyhee was tending to his other cuts and bruises.
"I think he only likes you. You're just so smoking hot."
