So, this may get a little confusing, so bare with me. This board is devoted to course registrations for your characters. First of all, let me make one thing perfectly clear: students are required to take certain classes each year at Hogwarts, these classes depend on which year you are in.
We are asking that each player register for at least TWO of the classes available to your character. By "registering" I mean that you select two classes (or more) that you, the player, will post in regularly when called for.
IN NO WAY does that mean you can assume that your character isn't taken all the other courses. If you register for Charms and Potions, for example, it means you promise to roleplay your character in those classes when they are being held. But, you can't assume that your character isn't taking Transfiguration and Defense Against the Dark Arts while they are at Hogwarts. Just because you've chosen not to role play in those classes, doesn't mean your character isn't taking them.
This is done so that the "burden" of being a student character is lessened. Instead of asking you to rp your character in 6 or more classrooms, we're asking that you only do so in 2 (minimum).
To prevent everyone from registering for the same class, there will be restrictions on how many students per house can register for a course. This is done to be fair to the Professors, who are here to RP as well.
Now without further ado, here is the list of courses available to First and Second Year Students:
Please keep in mind that not all the courses have a professor yet. Choose wisely.
Mandatory (All first & second years take the following) - Charms - Defense Against the Dark Arts - Transfiguration - Potions - History of Magic (No prof yet)
Electives (All first & second years must take two of the following) - Flying (1st Years Only) - Herbology (No prof yet) - Astronomy (No prof yet) - Care of Magical Creatures
Now, reply to this thread, with the two (or more) courses you will role play in this semester, along with your House and Grade.
Afterthought Note: All registrations will be removed during the winter vacation. This will allow all students the chance to register again with a clean slate. You'll be allowed to register to rp in the same class again, but it will be first come first served.

Orynn gazed at the older looking student, and listened attentively. The Beauxbatons transfer had much promise, and he was not too bad a student either. Orynn inhaled deeply before speaking.
"Ah yes, Monsieur Angelo. Nous sommes tres contente de t'avoir ici, a Hogwarts, mais aussi dans le maison de Serpentard." Orynn pated Thomas shoulder, before retracted it again and became more business like. "I can arrange for such a meeting, but I do not think there will be any need. I myself reviewed the courses you have taken and your grades, and have deemed it acceptable for you to study whatever you wish here. The other professors concur as well."
Orynn spoke reassuringly, but with the air of someone who expected this to be known already. He was about to leave, but before he made any motion to do so he simply asked; "Rien d'autre?"
{OOC: in the French version of the HP Books, Slytherin is translated into Serpentard. Just an FYI.}

Orynn nodded towards Lysistrata as she made her exit. The Deputy then saw that all the students had gone about their businesses. Some were telling tales from their summer over the fire place, others had pulled out the chess boards and had begun to play. All in all, Orynn saw little reason for him to linger much longer.
He stood up from his perch and began to back up slowly towards the exit of the common room, giving a last chance to anyone who had a burning question to ask. He thought that students in their O.W.L. or N.E.W.T. Year would definitely have a troubling concern or two. Anybody?

"What do you teach Professor?" One eager looking boy asked.
"Transfiguration." Orynn said bluntly.
"What's that? Another boy interceded.
"I'll not repeat my lectures twice Mr. Parkinson, you'll have to wait for class time."
About four more questions were asked, and Orynn answered some of them before the first years all seemed satisfied and went off to unpack. Orynn felt the very slight and familiar feeling of a headache threatening to make itself known.
Orynn was then approached by on older student. Orynn remembered now, the Headmistress had told him of Mrs. Legendre and her... special needs. Orynn made a mental note to speak with her in a more private setting soon, in case there were any concerns that she had that he could help deliver. To respond to her question, he had to be careful not to give her secret away to the rest of the students.
"Welcome to Hogwarts Mrs. Legendre." He forced a smile, Orynn not being the smiling kind. "There are some boggarts who linger in the school, mostly down here in the dungeons, for they like darker places. But I wouldn't worry about them..." He said quickly, because he saw of the first years look at him alarmingly.
"The Grounds Keeper, and Caretaker are in charge of keeping them out, and they do well of it." Orynn said, trying to be reassuring.

"Slytherins, this way. Don't doddle." Orynn said harshly to keep the first years in line.
Normally the duty to lead the first years to the Common Room was left to the prefects. Orynn however, had no interest in lagging behind with the rest of the staff in the Great Hall. He lead the group of ten or so students outside the Entrance doors, over the bridge towards the Viaduct, and then down a spiraling staircase which could've descended three stories. Finally, they were in the dungeons.
They made a sharp left, and walked a through the dark jade-tinted stone corridors. Along the way the Bloody Baron crossed their paths.
"Good evening Professor Novim." the pale ghost said to the Deputy headmaster.
"Good evening." he snapped back, walking right past him. He heard many exclamtions of shocks behind him, probably due to the ghosts cold demeanor and atmospheric influences.
They were now in a corridor not unlike the rest that they had been walking through. But Orynn had suddenly stopped and faced the wall to his right.
"Attribute" He said out loud. A huge section of the stone wall hinged inwards, opening like a massive door. Orynn walked inside and the first years flooded in after him. The Common Room was already fiilled with some of the older years who had taken the short cut.
With his black robes drooping around him, Orynn turned around to face the first years. He crossed his arms as most of them were running around looking at the cool things.
The Slytherin common room was low-ceilinged and situated right beneath the Hogwarts lake. There were greenish and silver lamps which lit up the dungeon-like room. Despite being so low, it was very warm, with a roaring fire which was situated so that students could sit around it on all ends. The boys and girls dormitories were at the very end of the room.
Orynn then address the first years. "You'll find all your belongings in the dormitories. Make yourselves comfortable, and try not to be pests. As Slytherins, our patience can only be tried so far." He heard some snickers from the older years around him. Orynn moved back to sit on the edge of the fireplace which was raised to be about 3-4 feet off the ground.
"This Common Room is yours specifically, normally no staff, including myself, are not permitted to be here. The same is true for all the Common Rooms, this space is reserved for students only. However, I will linger for just a few moments and address any..." before finishing his sentence he looked out to the rest of the students, raising his voice just one half of a notch. "...and all questions you might have."
With his expressionless face, he looked to the first years, as a number of them pushed their way through and immediately voiced their concerns. None of them being any different from any other year. One thing he did expect from the older years, was questions regarding the duel he agreed to have with the Head of Gryffindor house.

Hogwarts is home to hundreds and hundreds of students. Therefore, it is impossible to assume that we (the players) are the only ones attending the school.
For example, let's say there were five active students accounts on the board, and two active professor accounts. We cannot assume that school is being run by two adult wizards and has enrolled only five students. So, if you walk into a class and your the first player there, even though it's possible that you are the first student to class, it is not in anyway possible that you're the only student that shows up. Even if no other players show, you have to pretend that there are other students.
Otherwise it becomes ridiculous. Same thing goes for professors, it is unthinkable to assume that Hogwarts would not have a Arithmancy Professor or a Caretaker. There may be nobody playing them, but they have to be there in order for it to be realistic. Don't forget that there are also students in older years that roam the halls, and are invited to Yule Balls, etc.
If you yourself want to temporarily play one of this non-player characters, feel free to do so. We have here provided a list of all the NPC's various players have made up, or interacted with. Please, the objective is not to fill this up with as many names as possible, if you need your character to interact with somebody and it can "just be anybody" try to use one of the NPC already listed here.
This is a list of current NPC's floating about Hogawrts that have been created by students and staff alike already should any of you need them in your classes:
Hufflepuff:
Katherine Nanette - 7th year
Angelina Warwick - cherub faced young lady, 6th year
Sebastian Gregoire - 7th year
Melissa Bay - 3rd year
Gryffindor:
Albus Severus Potter - 2nd year (Assumed he's in Gryffindor) Canon
James Potter - 4th year Canon
Victoire Weasley - 7th year (Assumed she's in Gryffindor) Canon
Rose Weasley - 2nd Year (Assumed she's in Gryffindor) Canon
Graham Dedric - 1st year, unsure of himself for the most part.
Marie Devenpeck - 3rd year. Very bright student who will argue she is thought to be wrong.
Nicole Wood - Patient, model student, Hufflepuff kindness with a Gryffindor heart, 6th year.
Fred Weasley - almost identical to his father George, 6th year. Canon
The Weasley Horde - there's a lot of them, don't know their names or anything, but I would assume there's a lot
Gavin Woodward - gives respect to those who deserve it (Slytherin too), very much into what Nicholas has taught about honor and respect, not easily creeped out, 6th year
Alexander Perkin - 5th year
Sarah Alomar - 1st year student. Resentful towards her older sister apparently, who graduated from Hogwarts some time ago. Very proud of her individuality
Ravenclaw:
Maria Caldwell - 2nd year
Jason Finchly - astute, very scientific in thought, 5th year
Rodolphus (Rudy) Maynard - 6th year
Samuel Hackford- 1st year. Broke his nose while attempting to broom surf.
Oscar Ricketts- Friendly 3rd year, likes to look for the advantage in things.
Mary Prawett- (6th year) Best friends with Isabelle Wesker and Sera Jotte. She's the goofiest of the three, and she's a big day-dreamer.
Sera Jotte- (6th year) The more studious member of the trio.
Slytherin
Hector Davenough - Atypical Slytherin jerk, dislikes Donall, is all talk and constantly doing so, 6th year
Anthony Corenthos - bit of a prejudiced prick towards Gryffindors, thinks Donall's a traitor for warming up a bit to Nicholas, 5th or 6th year
Malcolm Zinnoy - 1st year
Scorpius Malfoy - 2nd Year Canon
Leon McDonnel - Best friends with Claire Walsh. He is seventeen and very evil to muggle borns, even moreso than Claire. Can get very serious, always pays attention in class. (7th Year)
Doctor NPCs from St. Mungos:
Dr. Rick Tyhee (Dr. Eric Foreman)
Dr. Alice Campbell (Dr. Alison Cameron)
Dr. Bobby Hunt (Dr. Robert Chase)
Dr. Gary Castle (Dr. Gregory House)
Please note that these four doctors are blatant, blatant rip offs of the characters that appear on House, M.D.
Feel free to post your own NPC here, and they will be added, your post then deleted.

Orynn was consumed in a novel as he walked at his usual strong and quick pace. The noise he hear just in front of him, the sound of knocking, made his head rise so he could look in front of him. It seemed that someone had beat him to his destination.
"Good day Mister Kennedy." The Deputy said from behind the sixth year. Orynn stopped his stroll, and halted right behind the student. Orynn had been coming from the Library, and he found it mildly amusing that the student was requesting to enter his office when he wasn't in it.
He placed his index finger into his novel and closed the book. He crossed his arms over each other as he looked at the Slytherin.

The rope, that which Orynn had grasped onto so tightly, was now burning his hands as it tried to pry from his fists. Nicholas's words caused mixed feelings within the Deputy. He felt like he was being ridiculed with the whips of sarcasm, and then Orynn's anger was fueled as some of the Professor's claims only seemed to prove that he truly did not comprehend Orynn at all.
Even in Orynn moment of weakness, he did not attribute enough credit to the knight. For one, Nicholas sounded like he knew what this was all really and truly about. Which was absurd, the sword-wielding gentleman had no idea what the matter was at hand here, he thought it was just about Orynn's loss. In truth it was about a lot more.
"Silence!" Orynn yelled out loud. His eyebrows still angled and burrowing into his face, his face one of anger unlike one ever seen before. He teeth still bared, Orynn looked like he would lash out at any moment. "You babble as if this is all a novel you've read once before. You offer answers as if this is easy, and profess to know my inner workings. You do not know me, my inner workings, nor my tale! It is beyond you, and you cannot hope to ever understand. Ever!"
The feeling of anger that he had clung to had finally lurched from his hands. His hand even reached to his gut, as the expression of fury on his face changed to one of pure frustration. The feeling was directed to himself, as he could feel his defenses crumbling and there was nothing that could be done.
"The only one who ever did understand was him." Orynn began to breathe more heavily. "...and now he's gone."
The realization hit him as if for a second time. This time, it hit fully, and Orynn did not resist the pain. His heart ached tremendously, and his knees bent to hit the wooden floor. His eyes were glazed over and they began to brim with tears, and Orynn wasn't staring at anything in the room anymore.
"He's gone." He said once more. "And now, I have no one." He held his gut with his hand, and he finally blink. The tiny, silent act causing a single tear from each eye to stream down slowly. Orynn balled up his free hand into a tight fist and smacked the floor hard, screaming loudly into the floor.
"Father!" His voice was loud and hoarse, and was immediately followed by sobbing by the older Professor. He could've even forgotten that Nicholas was there, but he didn't. He knew the man would be witness to this, but for the moment, Orynn didn't care. He just cried into the ground and into his arm, hiding his eyes. He'd finally let go, and embraced his fear.

Orynn felt like he was being repeatedly struck, again and again. Kicked while he was down and not strong enough to strike back. He felt like a shell of a man, and with every insult lashed out at him his outer shell cracked. The Deputy visibly winced even, and his eyes gave him away to be on the brink of tears.
He scrunched his eyes closed and clenched his fists tight, and even let out what sounded like a muffled war cry. As if he had an invisible weight on his shoulders, his knees were bent and he seethed through his teeth and looked at Nicholas.
Orynn had convinced himself, in his hindered state of reasoning, that Nicholas was trying to break him. That the knight was taking pleasure in reducing the Deputy into a pitiful mass of bumbling emotion worth pitying. Instead of breaking down like he wanted to, like he needed to, Orynn resorted to anger. It was so much easier to be angry, angry at anything, or anyone for that matter. Orynn's pride allowed him to be angry, almost enraged. But he couldn't display sadness, he could not, would not sob before this man. That would be a display of weakness that he would do all he could to prevent. So for now he held on tightly to the anger he was feeling towards Nicholas, he held on for dear life.
Orynn visibly shook he was so angry, even though it was a forced anger, an anger meant to hide what was really beneath it all.
"You... bleeding wretched.. cur." His teeth were barred, and his right hand clenched and unclenched, as if aching for his wand. "You would break me... ruin me... all to see me writhe in my pain, cry in my woe, and see my body rack with the sobs born from my loss. You will not gain any such glory Sir Knight. You cannot destroy what you cannot see. You do not understand me Sir Knight. Do you hear me? You do not understand!"
The mirror hanging over the fireplace, now behind Nicholas, cracked loudly. It did not shatter, but the thunderbolt looking crack went diagonally though the length of the mirror, as if something were on the other side trying to force it's way through.
