No! Orynn screamed inside his own head. The rope that he'd been holding onto had suddenly whipped out of his grasp, and now a barrier stood to block his escape. What was worse; it was a wall of pity, and pity was not something that could be fought.
Now the man that had provided him with distractions from his own mind was now asking to leave; another wall. Orynn was trying to run away, but it seemed as if no one would let him. He strained to keep his emotions from spilling over, as he rubbed his temple with his hand as he tried to think up a response to Nicholas's request.
Orynn hesitated for a moment and then he got up. Walked slowly towards the fire place, and placed his fingers onto his wand. He moved the wand, and unlocked the door, and left the wand where it currently lay. Now Orynn moved to block the exit, it was not menacing or a hostile stance, in fact Orynn looked quite feeble as he looked down at his feet and rubbed his hands together. He swallowed, and the action made his still dry throat ache.
"You may go, but I-I ask that you s-stay, please." Orynn cleared his throat again several time. "Please, I need... I-I would very much like the dist-traction." Orynn felt like his insides were twisting into a knot, causing him what felt like physical pain. He also felt as if he was mocking himself, some part of him was viewing this scene with distaste and would spit on Orynn if it could.
Orynn knew the knight had little to no reason to remain, and he would probably depart even after hearing Orynn's plea. If he'd even heard it, for even the Deputy wasn't sure of the words that had come out of his own mouth. Either that, or he just wasn't ready to admit it.
Orynn was running away from whatever it was he was truly feeling, it was always what Orynn had done best. More than books, more than study, maybe even more than sorcery. Now, however, he was falling down a pit, trying to grasp onto ropes thrown down to him but they would not remain in his hand. He feared very much what would happen to him if he fell down all the way, nothing terrified him more.

All this talk of death, or responsibility, and wanting to help gave Orynn the sensation of worms crawling through his skin. He drank the rum-based Eggnog in three gulps, and grimaced as he sighed and placed the mug back on the table. He resisted the urge to wave Nicholas's sentiments away in his usual rude manner. He needed the knight here, to distract him from his own thoughts, but Nicholas was forcing him to think about what he so desperately did not want to dwell on.
Normally, Orynn would cackle gleefully at the way Nicholas was trying to be so carefully considerate. But that's not what the Deputy wanted right now, he wanted to butt heads with the knight, wanted to spurn him into anger. He grabbed Nicholas's mug and downed the drink.
"Ack!" Orynn exclaimed as he finished. "Please Nicholas, spare me. You console me because you wish to make this endeavor easier for me, as it must in all relevant ways be identical to your own experience with your father's death. It is not." Orynn was stern now, as he looked into the Professor's visage.
"Your father was a great man in the eyes of many witches and wizards. Most of which had the relevant criteria to make such a judgment. I behoove you, to trust me when I say that my father was no such man. I would never have done for my father what you are accused of doing in the name of yours, and neither would you." There was a extremely faint tone of admiration in Orynn's voice, the kind of thing that was only noticeable because of it's years in absence. Orynn didn't even seem to realize it was there himself.
Orynn didn't expect Nicholas to understand. One's pain was not translatable to another, especially between these two men. No matter how similar the circumstances were when the pains were born.

Orynn turned, his head and then his body so that he was now looking into the eyes and face of the Head of Gryffindor House. Some moments passed, as Orynn still wore his blank and empty stare.
Then, some slight color returned to him, and his eyes and eyebrows twitched with life again. It was faint, but Orynn looked like he'd found something to cling onto again. Something to distract his mind and thoughts from his father, and the events of today. When Orynn spoke, it was calm and unhesitant.
"Yes Sir Knight, I thought you'd come." Orynn raised his hands, placed them on his resting cane to pull out his wand within. He turned back around a twirled it at the door, it shut closed behind the Knight and audibly locked. Orynn then placed his wand back down next to his cane before continuing to speak. "In my shoes you say." Orynn walked slowly to behind his desk. "I'd say you were utterly wrong on that point Sir, but what do I know...."
Orynn sat down on his chair, and opened up one of the drawers. He removed what looked to be a large glass of... Eggnog? With it Orynn removed two mugs, and he filled them both halfway. Moving one to the other side of his desk, within arms reach of anyone who would sit in the chair placed there. Orynn looked to the man who was still standing, and made a motion to the chair.
"Please, do sit and indulge me." Orynn was thankful for the distraction, and therefore did not speak threateningly or harshly as he normally did when speaking to Nicholas.

Orynn was still as ice, cold and expressionless, even the fire he'd made seemed to dim down rapidly. Again the question that was asked to him could've been from anyone, from anywhere on the planet. The sense of disbelief behind it was not heeded, it was missed and instead Orynn received the question for what it was at face value. He thought he wasn't understood.
The Deputy raised his hands to brace himself on the stone ledge above the fire place, he leaned forward, and stared into the face of his reflect. Still his face did not look convincing, it did not glare, and it did not command respect and obedience like it did usually. The words that escaped his mouth were on the brink of desperation, as if they were meant to try and convince himself of his own decision.
"I... will not be attending... the funeral."

The words washed over the deputy like air over a canyon. They were heard, but were barely listened to. One thing did provoke him to start speaking, but it was difficult. He tried again to summon his voice, but his body resisted almost, as if it could not bare to speak the words Orynn intended to say.
But it needed to be done, they needed to be said. If only so that he could hear himself say it, and then abide by it.
"I... I... I'm not going." Orynn's mouth and throat were parch try, he swallowed hard as he found it a bit difficult to breathe now.

The spinning stopped, and Orynn's eyes closed. He took another deep breath before reopening them turning to look sideways at the man who had entered. His eyes seemed paler than usual, and the usual menace and presence that was forcefully present behind those eyes was no longer there. The eyes were not penetrating, or piercing as they were every other day, instead they looked void, as if there was no mind behind them.
"Condolences..." Orynn whispered. He stood up and kept looking at Nicholas, as he walked with his cane to the fire place within the room opposite the door. The cane was in Orynn's hand, and it thudded against the wood floor every second step.
Eventually, Orynn's gaze faltered, and instead fell into the fireplace. With one hand, Orynn raised the cane off the ground, and hit it hard against the ground. The fire sparked, and soon crackled to life, emanating some little warmth.
"Easy..." The man whispered again, more to himself than to anyone else. Orynn had barely even acknowledged that Nicholas had entered his office, or that he had even spoke to him.
Orynn raised the cane, and placed it on the stone panel above the fireplace. There was a large mirror placed above it, in which Orynn could be seen from where Nicholas was standing. Orynn held his hands together behind his back, as he stared into the flames of the fire.
"The funeral... today." Orynn said in the same tone as before. It was as if he were reminding himself of something he already knew, only too well.

Orynn took a deep breath, and then exhaled. He kept having to repeat those steps, to keep himself level headed and within the present moment. He stared down at the head of his cane, which he twirled in his hand. He wore a thick black sweater which had a long pointed collar at the neck, and points at the wrists as well. The sweater did not button, but instead was cut in a small v. Under the sweater was a black tee of much thinner material.
Imprinted, apparently by magic, on the rim of the collar and sleeves were white symbols. Runes perhaps, but there were many in what looked like four different rows. The writing was also very tiny, and therefore almost impossible to tell what it was, or said, unless one held the garment to their nose. Orynn also had on some regular black pants, held up by a leather belt which had upon it the same writing as was on his sweater.
All of this done in preparation for a funeral that was being held in the next couple of hours. Orynn sat down, elbows upon his knees as he continued to stared intently at the head of his cane. His sister had left to make preparations for the burial of their father, she had left him to his own thoughts. How little she still knew him.
Orynn would have normally recognized the knock at his door, but his mind of elsewhere. His eyes seemed unblinking as he raised his cane, his wand hidden within, towards the door to. The knob turned on it's own to admit entrance of whomever was on the other side. Still he twirled the cane, three times to the left, then once to the right.

The Deputy's Office was located in the dungeons of Hogwarts Castle, as was common in the History of the School. All those who proceeded before Orynn as the Slytherin Head of House, had their offices in the Dungeons as well. The office door was right at the end of the hall way, where it broke off into two different directions. So those who were met with the end of the hallway in question, were left choosing to go left, right or straight ahead into Orynn's office. The door was very posh styled. It was rounded along the sides and met at a point at the top of the threshold. The door itself seemed to be made of very dark wood, which looked like it could be metal from a far. The silver handle glinted on the left hand side of the door. The office itself was very cramped. There was not an inch of wall to be seen, as it was covered with stacks of books, paintings, twisted and dark decor along with some very bizarre looking things. Oddly enough, no one has ever been seen entering or exiting the office in question. Even though students have been known to be sent there, there are never any eye witnesses to door ever being opened. Despite that fact, there is a piece of old looking parchment magically sealed onto the front of the door at what would be considered "eye level."

...and again the Professor passed the same set of footprints he himself had made almost two turns ago. He finally stared up into the frigid sky, the cold temperatures of the season not ceasing, and exhaled deeply. None of this was helping as much as he had thought it would have. He had left a note to the Headmistress, mentioning that he would not make an appearance that night, like so many nights past. Orynn had been making himself very scarce lately, seeking resolution within his own thoughts. Despite his firm denial, he was not at all any better, and a part of him knew it. He knew what he would have to do. The decision he would have to make, and address. He made a mental note to speak with Elsbeth when he had a moment, in person. It was time to really get down to the bottom of things. It was long past nightfall, the dinner was likely over. Orynn had been so absorbed in his own mind as it pondered about matters such as his father, his family, his goals and ideals, his legacy. Now that he was had stopped walking though, and looked around him, he realized he was on the outskirts of the Forbidden Wood. What was more, was that there was a sound coming from within. Twigs cracking, feet running, but there was something else. About twenty meters from where he stood, stumbling out from between some trees came a frightened human body. It almost stumbled, but recovered as it quickly ran away towards the castle, looking behind him/her occasionally. Orynn's brow quirked as he walked quickly towards the individual. His wand still safely stowed beneath the sleeve of his long blue sweatshirt. A black scarf wrapped tightly around his neck, matching his dress pants under which he had on some long-johns to keep him warm. The man, as he could clearly see the outline now, was still within the Deputy's view. He took out his wand and pointed it to his throat, the words for the spell right on his lips. But he was interrupted. There was one, and then two. The howls of a wolf, the sounds of a pack on the hunt. They sprang out from the Forbidden forest from where the man had emerged, and sped fast towards the same man. The Gytrash ( image) were in pursuit of what Orynn presumed to be their pray. Orynn stood, stunned for a moment. Did his eyes deceive him? The boy was surely a student, but why? What was he doing in the Forest? Blasted imbecile! Orynn fired into a sprint, his wand clutched in his hand as the snow scrunched under his feet. He was of course much too slow, and was barely keeping up with the specters. He cleared his mind, spitting out the first spell he could think of when it came to eliminating specters. "Lumos!" His wand tip illuminated. But the pack of five gytrash galloped onward. Orynn stared at his wand tip as if it insulted him, before whipping it at the pack of ghostly looking dogs again. "Lumos Eructo!" This time, the bright ball of light shot out from the Deputy's wand, and slammed into the snow-covered ground. The light dispersed after a small 'explosion' in which two of the five creatures wailed in pain before evaporating into the cold air. Specters, and many ghost creatures, hated light. Gytrash are especially vulnerable. Orynn looked up, squinted his eyes after the last specters who had been much farther ahead. The gentlemen they were after was now slipping through the entrance door. Orynn couldn't see his face, but Orynn could've sworn he saw a... Again his thought were halted abruptly. This time by a rather large looking, about the length of a adult human hand with the thickness of a finger from the same person, spike that had whizzed right by his ear. Crouching suddenly from surprise, Orynn turned to look around him. The sight before him made the breathe in his throat catch and his eyes widen. The light from his wand shone eerily on the creature that looked at him. It was on all four, and crouched down, as if it were going to pounce at any moment. "He... he was your's." The voice was garbled, as saliva dripped from the Manticore's open mouth ( image). This was a horrible looking creature. It looked like it had been created by the mashing of parts from other animals. It hissed and gurgled from it's human-like head and mouth. The sight was nightmarish, and churched the wizard's stomach. Orynn, who still had not responded to the creature, kept his eyes fastened on the end of the Manticore's tail, which whipped from side to side. Orynn gulped, there was enough poison in one of those stingers to be instantly fatal, and he backed up slowly, wand still poised, he'd forgotten all about the boy and the Gytrashes. Even when the booming sound of the front door closing echoed throughout the grounds. "He... he is your charge. Your res-ponsibility. Yet, he roams free, disrupting the life within the wood. You... you will pay.." The Manticore barred it's teeth. "Wait! What are you doing here?! Who are you--" But the creature had already lunged at him as Orynn instantly turned into smoke to have the creature just pass right through him. He rematerialized quickly though, taking a sharp intake of breath when he had done so. The cold temperature made it difficult to remain in non-solid form. Not to mention he was panicked, and that destroyed his concentration. Furthermore, there were a billion questions running through his head. A manticore, here?! Outside the forest? These creatures ranked one of the most dangerous in all of Europe, he had no doubt that some made their home in the Forbidden Wood, but that did not explain why it was out here. Trying to kill him. These were semi-intelligent beasts, capable of speech no less. They would not attack a wizard, a staff member of the castle, without very good reason. The Manticore came about again, and had now unfolded it's wings to appear much bigger and more of a threat. Orynn grunted as it stared him down. The sweat from his palm made the wand in his hand slippery, but he shot it to the sky, secretly crossing his fingers. "Periculum!" He shouted, a large silvery looking firework torpedoed into the air, erupting high in the sky, sparks flying. The Deputy desperately needed help, as the Manticore poised it's tail and aimed at him, shooting another stinger. Orynn jumped backward, falling onto his rear as the stinger landed into the ground. As he fell, he thought to shoot another signal for help into the sky. At the sight of the human loosing his height advantage, the beast came rampaging after the fallen Professor.

Finally, the Deputy Headmaster returned. He slipped through the large door, and looked at the nervous students in front of him. Some had the jitters, others looked like they would rather die than crack. Others were clearly annoyed already, while others appeared indifferent. No matter. Orynn though, it would all be over momentarily. "We're ready, follow me inside please." Orynn turned around, and raised his hands into the air. He rotated his palms, and pulled outwards, as if opening an invisible curtain. The large door that stood before the group creaked open, and was soon wide and ready to admit them. Orynn walked through, hearing the hushed whispers of awe behind him from some. {You should now post here.}

The crowd of eleven years olds had halted before him. Perhaps intimidated, but possibly looking to him for their next bid of instruction. Orynn waited until they had all caught up with him, and Orynn made a mental note to thank the Groundskeeper and Shellivia during the First Feast of the Term.
He looked over the first years, took a sharp intake of breath and began to speak. His tone was mellow, informative, and yet firm and did not encourage interruption.
"Welcome, all of you." During his address he would sometimes look at different students directly into their eyes. Before looking over to the next student. "There is a great feast prepared for you all, a hearty meal to make sure your first day within the castle is an inviting one. We are pleased to admit such bright youngsters into our well-established Wizarding School, of Hogwarts."
Despite the fact that the speech was very complimentary and kind, Orynn expressing didn't seem to reflect that. He looked little more than a robot, and hadn't even uncrossed his arms yet.
"During your stay at Hogwarts, we will be as your family away from home, and you will each be new additions to our proud family. First, you must be sorted into your houses. There is Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, and Slytherin. Where you belong, will be decided by very magical means indeed." Finally, the Deputy Headmaster smiled to the group before him.
He turn slightly to the right, and motioned for them to follow, and they did. Orynn walked to the front doors of Hogwarts. He turned back to the students. "Please, wait here a moment." He said seriously. He then opened the very tall heavy door, slipping in very quietly.

Orynn hadn't dressed this formally for years it seemed. However, this was a special occasion which demanded the best of all. Welcoming new students to Hogwarts was an amazing honor, which Orynn prided himself in being a part of.
He had a very heavy looking black robe on. His arms were crossed over his chest, and the hood to his garment was down, his hair reflecting bright against the night's moon.
He stood half way down the flight of stairs that would lead into the Entrance Courtyard, beyond which was the Great Hall which the entire student roster and staff awaited those to be sorted and admitted into the school. This was a very exciting time, one that Orynn thought himself personally, to have been the best day of his life.

A quiet and windless morning seemed granted, as a kind of late Christmas present, to the tall Transfiguration Professor who had risen early. He walked across the snow covered frozen lake, and stuck out from the view like a piece of charcoal on a pure white tapestry. Orynn's dark purple cloak waved slightly behind him, but did not thrash violently as there was no wind this day. There was not even a snow flake to fall in the way of the deputy, who walked fiercely towards the center of the lake.
The winter holidays was upon Hogwarts, and coupled with it was silence, which was something Orynn could not ask more of these days. Most of the students were away with family, as were some of the staff members as well. So, the hallways were at peace, and the grounds remained undisturbed for the most part. he was counting on nobody being awake for the time being. Not that what he was about to do was wrong, but witnesses were definately not invited.
With each new snowfall, there were no footsteps to follow that mucked it up. Except for today, this morning, there was a trail of Orynn's footsteps leading right to the center of the lake where he had finally stopped.
It had been sometime now since Orynn was by himself. With his papers all corrected and mid-term grades submitted, it was the hour for self-reflection, analysis, and rigorous fine-tuning.
Orynn did not slip as he walked because of a charm he had cast on his boots. Which were the same color as the rest of him, which was very much out of character for the deputy. So much so most onlookers who knew him may wonder who he was at first. For the white-haired man had dressed in colors to match such, without exception. Pure white jeans, with a white collared t-shirt and leather gloves. It was almost a wonder the professor did not freeze, as it was at least a few degrees under the freezing temperature.
Orynn had finally stopped, and each time he exhaled his breath would dissipate in front of him. As if he were waiting for something. Orynn finally produced a hand mirror from his back pocket, and his wand from his sleeve. With a wave of his wand, the snow on the ice blew away. It left a circle with a radius of about five meters clear of snow on the ice. Orynn then tossed the mirror to the ground and pointed his mirror at it, glaring at his reflection as if he wanted to carve into it with his gaze.
"Alacritas Pondero!" A large boom resounded through the area as a silver spark sped and smacked into the mirror, sending it skidding across the ice another foot or two away from the wizard. Before Orynn's very eyes, his own self crawled out of the small mirror. His double was his complete identical, and almost no difference could be told. As it shook his head, as if having just woken up, it turned to face Orynn. There was perhaps one difference between the two. Whereas the Deputy almost rarely smiled, his double appeared to have one plastered to his face... and evil an menacing grin. The Doppelganger whipped a wand out a swished it towards Orynn offensively.
"You!"
"Me." Orynn responded as he put his weight onto his back foot and poised his wand to defend himself. A moment passed as both creator and clone did nothing, and then the wand in Orynn's hand flicked ever so slightly and the mirror flew into his hand even as the Doppelganger flung his hand out to grab and miss it.
Orynn pocketed the mirror into his back pocket and the Doppelganger chuckled.
"For safe keeping I see. Don't want me out and about causing havoc now do we?" He teased.
"I might doubt my enemies from time to time, but I will surely not doubt myself." Orynn said as he unclasped his cloak and threw it to the side with one hand.
"Wise man." The duplicate chuckled once more, casting off his cloak as well.
Now both men, looking as if they were twins, stared at each other. Shifting their weight from one foot to the other constantly and in sync so that they really did look like they had the same mind. Then finally;
"Immobulus!" A purple rocket shot from the double's wand at Orynn. The deputy side stepped and shot an invisible spell... downwards?
"Res Rei Verto" And Orynn was off without another word, having transfigured his boots into skates, which also ended the non-slip charm he had placed on them before. Orynn was bolting to the other end of the lake, but the time he was attempting to buy was cut short as a lighting bolt cracked ahead of him and to his right.
The Doppelganger had casted the same spell and was now in full pursuit of the man he was fashioned after. From his wand shot streaks of lightning which Orynn zig-zagged to avoid. One turn too sharp and Orynn found himself on bended knee staring up at his opponent, with a maniacal grin on his face. Orynn straightened his back and thrust out his wand.
"Defenestratus!" Orynn shouted, and a large curling wind came down in front of him and swopped up his double from the ice, arms and legs flailing. Some snow from the ice was picked up along with it allowed one to see the strong winds and how they looked like enormous hands playing with a toy they'd found.
As Orynn stood up, but his expression remained cold. Maybe he was right not to celebrate, for his clone had melted into an all too familiar smoke, and was speeding towards him. Orynn himself melted into the gaseous state and shot upwards to avoid the oncoming self. Both smoke figures reverted to human shape back on the ice, shouting spells one after the other.
"Intorqueo Sero!" Four vines snaked out of the double's wand, and snapped towards Orynn to wrap him tightly.
{OOC: Those spells with a *, are made up. I will propose them to be added ASAP} "Congelare!*" The vines stopped in the tracks as the invisible spell hit them. The paled quickly as icicles grew upon them and reached further and further down until the vegetation just stopped. This did not stop the doppelganger as he broke his wand from the vines and quickly casted another spell.
"Reducto!" The frozen vines shattered into chunks and pieces and flew towards their original target.
"Protego!" Some of the first pieces of ice bounced off the Deputy's shield, but the charm was not strong enough. A shard of ice sliced into the man's neck as it whizzed buy, another heavy piece collided with his left shoulder. The Deputy bent over as he covered his hand over his neck to stop the bleeding. Knowing too well that as he did so, he left way too much of an opening.
"Levicorpus!" The familiar feeling of being plucked by the feet and swung up into the air came over Orynn. His double cackled as if came up to his floating body and sent his wand ripping through his shirt, letting the garment fall onto the snow below it's owner.
"Uncomfortable yet, Master?" He said condescendingly.
Orynn ignored him, though he was extremely uncomfortable being bare. He tried to focus on blocking out the pain. He knew more would be coming, he had to be ready. As if by cue, the haunting chuckle of his double halted with the enunciation of another spell.
"Crucio!" Orynn let out a scream before clamping his jaw shut and crunching his eyes closed. Wiggling in mid air Orynn felt the intense pain, as if marble sized-balls with spikes were carving across his body on the inside everywhere. Orynn barely felt the mirror fall from his pocket, and clunk onto the ice intact. The Doppelganger noticed as well, but was having too much fun. He lifted the curse from his creator, but kept him suspended in the air. With a twitch of the wand's tip, the writhing Deputy levitated higher into the air.
"Now that you're finally out of the way, nothing will stop me." The menace cackled as the Professor was levitated nearly twenty-five meters from the surface of the frozen lake, still masking his pain and refusing to yell. "Enjoy the fall, Deputy! Ha!" With that the Doppelganger let loose his spells and the Deputy immediately began to plummet.
"Bombarda Maxima!" The spell shot like a bullet behind a billow of smoke and landed at the feet of the Doppelganger. The ground from which he stood gave way and he fell through the cracks of ice, his wand still clutched tightly in his lifeless looking hands. The doppelganger clutched onto the edge, his wet sopping was heavy as it lay flat on his head. His breath was plainly visible as he exhaled and stared venomously at his opponent, who sat on his knees with the mirror in hand.
The Doppelganger lurched himself out of the pit and and thrust his wand at Orynn, chattering uncontrollably and therefore unable to speak the incantation. A purple and orange ball of ignited flame shot towards the Transfiguration Professor, who seemed to catch the spell whit his arms crossed. Orynn seemed to be pushing hard against the projected spell, and his knees even inched further away from his opponent as if he really was pushing against an invisible wall. The Doppelganger shot more spells at Orynn, each one forcing him back a bit more but none of them actually making contact. Orynn was visibly sweating as the beads ran down his face and neck. Every muscle visible was flexed, and Orynn bare chest was heaving up and down with every heavy breath he took.
Finally the Professor let out a scream as he redirected the collected sphere of spells downwards towards the ice. The result was a visible force of wind which streamed towards the Doppelganger and picked him up violently into gusts and wrapping streams of snow. Tossing him around and around, Orynn's palms pointed towards the air borne reflecting as he tried to break free. Orynn clenched his palms closed, letting out an audible grunt as the ball of wind and snow cracked loudly and grew heavier and heavier 'til it hit the ground. A large sphere of solid ice, with the doppelganger trapped inside, now rested on the snow-covered banks of the lake.
Orynn stood up, spun on his heal and made a slashing motion towards the over-sized frozen marble. Letting out another grunt, the sound from the man was follow by a "shink," like that of an ax being sharpened. The sphere cracked against itself, as the top half slid and fell off of the bottom half, severing the doppelganger's body in the process.
The body of the double, which could barely be seen in through the thick magical ice, dissipated. When Orynn looked again at the mirror he held, it was cracked and irreparable. The man sighed deeply, as he summoned his cloak in hand and wrapped his naked upper half in it. He exhaled again, as he let the rising sun beat on him and warm his body. He would be heading back inside the castle soon, he just needed to catch his breath first.

Orynn solemnly shrugged his shoulders.
"I can only give my word that I will not instigate anything with the man again. Far from it from me, however, to guarantee the same for him." Orynn already knowing full well that she had likely spoken to Nicholas already, and therefore had all the reassurance she needed that there would be no repeat performance.

Orynn resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Believing his was misunderstood.
"Ms. Pierce, let me clarify something. You make me sound like a common muggle-hater, which imparts on me very little worth which I cannot say I appreciate. I hold non-magic folk no ill will. They excel in their departments, as do wizard in witches in our own. I will not pretend to know how to drive, or repair machinery, or use what they call a... a... laundromat. They have their part in the world, and they serve those roles to the best of their abilities."
"I have a strong faith in that each individual should remain a part of their own world. To dabble in the other, and attempt to combine the two together will only bring much confusion and peril to the delicate fabrics in which we all live in. There's a good reason why it's called 'Defence against the Dark Arts' and not 'Defence Against the Dark Arts and Muggle Weaponry.'"
Orynn closed his eyes for a moment, inhaling and exhaling deeply. Such was a topic he believed in vehemently. This was not the place to become overtly vocal about it though, he calmed himself and continued.
"As for the other matter. If I did provoke the knight, it was done inadvertently. I was there that day, in his classroom, by request of the Professor. By the same Professor's request I dueled the students with spells I knew they could never defend against. Was it fair? Certainly not, but the goal of the exercise was not meant to be fair, or just. It was meant to teach, and impart humility."
As you witnessed the other day, I apologized for my behaviour then. I was over zealous, and pompous in the way I reveled in my staged glory. I have become humble myself since then."
Orynn spoke statements of fact. He did not speak out of his defence, for he had committed no crime in his eyes.
