"Sure, that sounds nice," he said, as he took hold of the professor's outstretched hand and shook it. "Til next time."
He began walking out of Sir Lannsmann's office, but turned around, as if he had forgotten something. "Have a good day, Sir." he said with a genuine smile, then turned back and walked out without stopping again.

Don sighed. "I'll try your little experiment, Sir. It seems useful, but I know it's also hard to break old habits. I'm not sure it'll be so easy to break through this one so fast."
He let Sir Lannsmann take his mug, and then he stood up. "I'll be on my way, then. Thanks for your time."

"I'll keep that in mind," he said, with a small smile, "I suppose I should get going now, anyway. I do have some homework to attend to."
He finished the rest of his hot chocolate, but stayed seated for a moment longer. "It wouldn't be strange for me to come back again some time, Sir? You being the Gryffindor Head of House, and not very well liked by my own House Head...?"

Don's eyes followed the professor as he prodded the fire. Then he answered. "Like I said before, Sir; If not for your class..."
He continued, nervously, for this bit of information had only just come to himself, as well. "I wasn't too sure why I had come here, until now. I needed to thank you."

Dónall sipped some more at his hot chocolate, not wanting it to turn cold before he could finish it.
He thought, and then realized that this was one thing he wasn't quite ready to share with anyone, but he did offer up one tidbit. "My father always wanted what was best for me. In his eyes, and his only."
Frowning, slightly, he continued. "I'm not comfortable expanding on that..."

Dónall mulled over the knight's question for a moment, not too sure how to answer. Then, it came to him. "I suppose it is good to have people stand by my side in my time of need..."
A look of realization flashed on his face, and then he continued. "It's something else I'm not too familiar with, either... But, I think I might like it."

Don searched for the right words, as he held his hot chocolate in both hands. He watched the steam rise from the liquid, and let out a sigh. Then, he answered. "I never hated you, Sir. I just never understood what you were about. I never let myself understand, because you stand for all things good, or so it seems. And I guess that was something I never wanted to see, because then I would know what I was doing wrong with my life."
He paused and sipped his hot chocolate, then stared into the mug for a few moments, thinking.
"I admired you, but I never admitted it to myself. But I guess I just did..."

"You're proud? Of me?" he managed to choke out. "...That means more than you know, Sir."
He tried to smile, and answered the knight's question. "Yes, please. A hot chocolate would be great."

"It felt right. That's the problem! For the first time in my life, somethign felt right... And though it was unfamiliar territory, I think I kind of appreciated it."
He dropped his gaze to his hands, and fidgeted, not knowing how to say what it was he really wanted to say. "I... I just wanted to thank you, I suppose." He looked up, looking the knight in the eye. "Nobody ever pushed me before, to do something right, or to change."

Donnow brought his gaze to the professor, and he tried to get his words out, however hard it may have been. "There's nothing really wrong with it, other than the verbal attacks and the duel from my House. But it's just... I don't know what came over me... Why I stood up for that girl. It's so unfamiliar."
He squirmed a bit in his seat, trying to get comfortable.

"I... Er, sorry, Sir." he apologized, he hadn't meant to startle the knight like that, it was just the way his thoughts had come out.
"I mean, really, it's because of your class. That's what started this whole mess to begin with."
As he spoke, his gaze shifted around the room, to everywhere but the man's eyes. "You got me to participate, and go beyond my House. It caused me great grief, for sure, but it also made me change..."

Don fidgeted with his hands, staring at them instead of looking up at the professor. He spoke in the meantime. "It's about the duel, Sir. Well, more what happened before the duel, than after the duel..."
He raised his eyes to look at Nicholas, and spoke a little more clearly. "It was so unlike me to stand up for that Huffle." He paused to think. "And I think it's got something to do with you."

Dónall quickly walked over to the nearest high backed comfy char by the fire, and sat himself down, in answer to the knight's question.
To his other question, however, Don wasn't so direct. "Things are going, alright... But I wouldn't say they are alright."

Poking his head in, he shyly smiled in greeting, and continued walking in. It was out of charachter, but then again, so was this visit.
Dónall crossed his arms, and stood inside the office, not knowing what to do or say. Then, he chose his words, carefully. "Thank you, Professor," he said "I was hoping we could talk."

Dónall stood awkwardly outside the open door, just out of sight of the entrance. He stared at the floor, pondering.
He wasn't sure why he had come here; he had never spoken to Sir Lansmann outside of class and the duel.
He turned his stare to the open door and breathed in deeply. He let out a sigh and then walked forward.
Knocking on the door he said, "Erm... Excuse me, Professor?" He was now directly in front of the doorway, and in sight.
