Kel smiled, comforted that this was not unusual, and took the second wand from the smiling gentleman. She swished this one just like the old one, but instead of 'bang'ing, it let off a mournful whistle, and a small Bonsai tree appeared on the long wooden counter.
Kel wondered if that was a good sign, but figuring that the deciding factor in picking a wand was not whether or not a tree appeared when you waved it. 'Though maybe it's different for each person. . .' Kel wondered.
She gave the wand back to Mr. Ollivander, deciding that this wand didn't feel quite right.
((OOC: In my Sorting application, it says that my wand is 11 1/2 inches long, made of oak and has an Essence of Dragon Scale core. Maybe the wand I buy here should be like that, though it doesn't have to. I can always edit it. And I do like the sound of that red one you just gave me to try.))

Kel, a little puzzled at his odd reply, said nothing, merely watching him as he got a wand out of a box.
When he asked her to try it, she had no idea what to do. She came up to him and grasped it carefully in her small hand, giving it an experimental flick. There was a loud bang and Kel jumped, frightened.
She tenderly put the wand down, hoping Mr. Ollivander (since that must be who he was) wouldn't be mad at her. "I'm sorry, sir! I've never used a wand, and I didn't know that would happen!" Kel cried, wondering if he would get mad at her and throw her out. Then she'd have to go all the way to Germany to get one from that other wand maker her mother had told her about.
She glanced up at Mr. Ollivander, frightened.

Kel, always an open person, didn't mind one bit talking to an older person. She immediately started talking.
"Well, sir, to be honest it's been quite busy. I've been shopping since quite early for all my school things, not that I mind; it's so exciting! I've never been here when it's this busy. And I haven't even been here a lot. Usually when my mum needs something really special, she buys it online or something like that, but today we-my mum and dad, that is-came, because my mum says it's something of a tradition. She says you meet some of the students you're going to be going to school with, learn how to interact with other people and other stuff. My mum's always looking out for new experiences like that, and I'm really glad I came today. It's so fun!"
Afraid that she had said too much, but still having lots more to say, Kel looked quizzically at the elderly man.
"Are you sure you want to hear it all? I could go on all day telling you everything I think of." Kel warned him.

Kel hurried down the busy street, looking out for the wand shop she was looking for. She was to go and find the right wand and then wait for her parents to catch up after buying her birthday present. She finally spotted the man standing in the door of his shop standing under a sign saying "Ollivander's wands", and turned off the bustling lane toward him.
"Hello, do you run this wand shop? I'm looking for a wand." Kel asked/greeted him, smiling warmly. She had always been a friendly soul.

Kel frowned, wondering why someone would rip a page out of 'A History of Magic', of all books. It wasn't even a very interesting book, for gosh sakes!
"Hmm. . ." she mused, doodling absently over her notes on charms. A small shoot with minuscule buds sprouted under her pencil.

Kel's eyes widened. "Really? Did Daviv tell someone? I bet he really isn't happy about that. He loves these books, just like me. Do you know what books - or book - it was?" Kel asked Neoma. I mean, if books were being vandalized, shouldn't someone do something about it?
Kel was also worried about Stevie. Neoma had told Stevie why she had been acting so weird, but Stevie seemed oddly attached to that journal of his. And where did he get it, anyway?

((Alrighty, since Neoma seemed to be pretending I was there, I'll just say I was! And that I was immersed in my book. But still listening. Yeah, that's right!))
Kel looked up when she heard Stevie's almost guilty tone. She raised one eyebrow, then put her nose back into the large tome she had been practically drowning in. It was all about movement, animation and illustration Charms and spells, and Kel was taking notes on everything that might help her animate her tree picture, to make it sway in the wind. She also wanted to see if she could find coloration spells so she wouldn't have to paint it, though she did have a neat paint set.
She was also managing to listen to the conversation, though she wasn't actively participating in it.

((OOC: I'm sorry, you guys, but I'm not gonna post because I'll be gone until Sunday. But I will read over it. Stevie, Kel still thinks you've done something, and Neoma, Kel has noticed how you're acting and is worried about it. Sorry again!))

"I found a few. . ." Kel replied absent-mindedly. She flipped through the table of contents of the first book, which had a lot of household spells. She set it aside, and carefully lifted the cover of the next one, which was old and battered. She ran her finger down the chapters, the ink old and pale, hard to read in places where the ink had run. She found a chapter on spells for restoration and stasis spells, and another one on intricate spells for machinery, but she just wanted a simple one for her drawing. She placed it on top of the previous one, then opened the third book. It seemed more promising, with simpler spells and shorter incantations. She found one that looked promising and stuck a small piece of paper in it to serve as a bookmark as she looked for more. She found another, less likely one, but bookmarked it all the same and started a new stack to her right. The next book was a potions textbook from years past, and had a slightly complicated, but not horribly so, recipe for a 'clear fluid'. Apparently, it would make things that were made of a certain kind of ink, a special kind of clay, paper, et cetera et cetera, move. After you applied the fluid with a dropper, you had to cast an easy Charm to make sure your specimen acted appropriately, but altogether it wasn't that hard. Kel bookmarked the relevant page and set it aside.

Kel continued to return all her books, seeing a Ravenclaw as she did so. She had seen him during mealtimes, but didn't know him all that well. Once she had returned the last book - a large, stained copy of Magical Beasts and Where to Find Them - she turned into a large section of tall bookshelves where she usually found some neat stuff and started looking for titles relevant to animation. She found a few likely specimens, bringing them back to the table where she had left her bag and Tiria. Tiria, however, had wandered off, Kel suspected to find a good book to read.
((OOC: I don't want to think of a bunch of titles, so you can think of one if you need to use the titles for something.))

Tiria stared right back at Mercury, looking deep into the little cat's eyes. She wondered if this cat was like herself; she could talk to people and have them understand if she wanted to. She knew that the little cat was at least a bit Kneazle, but the purple-eyed cat wasn't sure how much of a magical creature he was. "What are you trying to do?" Tiria wanted to know, still peering curiously at the other cat. "Why are you staring at me, hmm?" she queried.

"Well, after I'm done putting these books back, I think I'll poke around a bit, but if I don't find something very helpful, then I'll need your help to find something to help me animate a pencil-drawn bird." Kel informed him, then picked up A History of Charms and it's Origins and headed off to its respective section. Daviv would probably think about that and have a perfect book all ready for her once she was done. She smiled. She loved the quiet library with its kind librarian. She always did her best studying while sitting amongst stacks or large books. Though, it was funny, because she did her best hands-on work when she had a short amount of notice, like someone picked up a wand and told her to get ready. Totally spontaneously.

"Hello, Daviv! It's Kel!" Kel called from behind her stacks of books, peering round them at Mercury. "Hello, you." She said affectionately, patting the little fluffy cat. Tiria jumped up onto the table also, purring a butting her larger head against Mercury's small one.

Kel pushed the large heavy door to the library open, carefully guiding herself in. She had a stack of books to return in her arms, along with her carrier bag over her shoulder and her cat Tiria padding behind her. She walked slowly over to a table meant for studying, putting the heavy books down with a muffled thud. She sorted them out according to the Dewy Decimal System, then started putting them back on their respective shelves, thinking about what books she might need to find out how to animate her picture. She would poke around for a bit, because she loved doing that, and then she would ask Daviv.
((OOC: I didn't know what to call him. That sounds okay, but maybe he lets them call him Daviv. I dunno.))

Kel, who had quietly tended to more hysterical students until the order to leave had come, and then left orderly with all the other students, headed back to her common room with the group of her shocked, crying, hysterical and worried fellow Hufflepuffs. She walked along fairly quickly, supporting a petite eleven-year-old she had stood next to in the giant turtle the escaping students had made. The girl, whose name was Dianne, was still in shock, with tears pouring unheeded down her face. Kel was staunching the flow with her sopping wet handkerchief, but the girl didn't seem likely to stop anytime soon.
Kel wondered when she could get into bed. The strain of even just staying calm when all she could hear and see where crying voices and panicked students, many of whom were older than she had played havoc with her nerves. She wanted to crawl into her warm bed and pretend nothing bad happened, that she had decidedly not seen Nick lose it at the Slytherin who had yelled at her in the courtyard when she looked over her shoulder, and, most of all, that Hogwarts had not just been invaded by big panthers with tentacles and claws. Definitely not.
