If Neoma had been puzzled before, she was more or less utterly baffled by now. Every word seemed to be a trick question, or appeared to be more, or less, than it seemed. She thought it best to keep her wits about her, to avoid from looking foolish or less that she was.
She stood as tall as she could, paying attention. She smiled when Stevie seemed to be on top of things, and appreciated his humbleness. None of them could fly, that was for certain. Looking down at the brooms that had bee laid out before the first years, she honestly questioned whether these sticks would help in that regard at all.
She had a sinking feeling this would not be one of her best classes this semester.

It took Neoma a moment before she realized the Instructor was talking to her. Missy? Who's he calling Missy?! But she kept her objection to herself as she stood up straight and looked at him straight on.
"I'm Neoma. Um... Neoma Tsylence." She hoped there were no complications with the absentee list he was holding.
Neoma felt the familiar feelings of having been spotted. Glancing about, she saw the one and only Stevie. Her eyes communicated her own hello to him, as she was a good 8 student bodies away from him. Maybe they could sit... uuh... or stand... by each other in class. Neoma realized she had no idea how this flying lesson was going to be...

Neoma walked quickly towards the field. It had taken her some time this morning to realize that, she would not need any books of any sort for this class. For that reason she had feared she was going to be late, but there weren't that many people in the field with the Flying Instructor.
Neoma recognized him from the ball, but up close he was quite different. Neoma blinked, and then titled her head as if wondering if from a different angle, the puzzle would solve itself.

Neoma pushed open the large doors that admitted her into the classroom. She poked her head in to peek inside, almost half the classroom was filled with students by the time she had arrived.
She slipped inside and tippy toed to one of the seats in the front-middle rows. She sat down, taking out her text book and wand before lacing her fingers together and placing them on the desk. She rubbed her lips together, a sort of nervous habit of hers, and looked up at the Professor.

Neoma will role play in Charms and DADA, if that's ok?

Neoma didn't like the sound of this at all. She nodded in response to the announcement, as she couldn't really have done anything else.
She tried to make eye contact with Keladry, wanted to somehow signal that she wanted to talk afterward. Preferably, away from the earshot of others. She didn't know how's she'd signal that... maybe just motion for her friend to follow her out of the Common Room and roam the castle for a safe spot.

Neoma had lost track of Keladry in the midst of the getting to the common rooms. As soon as she followed the Head of House into the warm room she was in love. She adored this room the moment she laid eyes on it, she immediately beamed and lit up the room even more, if it were possible, with her smile.
She tried to control her giddiness as she stared up at the Professor who was speaking. She seamed nice enough, and Neoma quite liked her for the moment. She surpressed her laughters at how difficult it was for Minka to pronounce her Q's. But Neoma wasn't laughing at her, more with her than anything else.
Even when the Fat Friar came up Neoma was more pleasently surprised than shocked. She giggled at the tubby, friendly looking ghost. She even went up to him and tried to shake his hand, and burst in a fit of giggle when the Fat Friar pretended to engulf her hand.
"Neoma Tsylence?"
Neoma whipped around. One of the older student was handing her a package.
"This came for you." The fifth year said. They exchanged names, and Neoma accepted the package, but quickly looked at it puzzingly when the older student had left. There was a note that indicated that it was from her parents, and that it would not bite.
Now Neoma was even more confused. The package was still and did not move in her hands.

Neoma looked up in awe as the Deputy listened. She was comforted by the words, but not by the way they were said. This guy could've dressed up as a statue for Halloween and won any costume contest held. She jogged after him when he motioned the to follow, and the rest of the youngsters.
She still hadn't gotten used to the robes she was wearing, and almost tripped on them once or twice. She was asked to stay put, and she didn't dare disobey. She looked to Stevie again, it was nice to have someone to talk to.
"I think I'm getting stage fright." And she tried to laugh it off.

The group of first years stopped just in front of the supposed Deputy Headmaster, who still hadn't said a word. Glancing over her shoulder quickly, she saw that some of the first years had still not quite made it. There were indeed alot of new admission to this... famed Wizarding School, this year anyways.
"Me too." Neoma giggled. Looking at the boy beside her again. "My name's Neoma, pronounced like n-AY-oma, even though it's an 'e' and not an 'a'.''

Neoma looked over to the boy beside her, she blinked and then returned the smile and the welcome. Finally, someone her own age.
"Hi." she said.
She wondered as to how dark is had turned over the course of a few hours. However, Neoma wasn't the least bit tired. She was hungry, and now she was much too nervous and excited. She turned back to Stevie and asked innocently;
"Do you know what happens now?"

Neoma made an effort to keep up with the crowd. She found herself beside another boy, with a guitar with him. Neoma smiled, it would seem that non-magic things made their way into this world just as easily as anything else. The fact comforted her, maybe she could live in both worlds in harmony.
As they approached the steps, she began to slow more and more as the man in black robes came closer and closer without himself moving. His bright white hair and dull grey eyes made him look really eerie in the nights moonlight. Without meaning too, she spoke,
"Dear me..." She quickly quieted herself, not wanting to be heard by her neighbors.

Neoma was speechless as the boy snatched up her notes. She stood up to try and demand them back, bud was faced with not one, two, but three undisirables. She back up and was forced to sit back down again when she hit the bench. What had she done to deserve this?!
Thankfully the entire situation had resolved itself, and Neoma got her notes back. She laid it out flat on her lap and starred at the ones who had 'come to her rescue.' She admired them in a way, as she hoped she'd be able to stick up for herself one of these days like they stook up for her. On the other hand, there was a lot of tension left in the courtyard afterwards and the one called Kennedy now had a threat looming over him that he was none too pleased to have, obviously.
She looked at him sideways, trying to communicate her thanks wordlessly. She sighed, a bit shaken. She decided that she'd retreat indoors for a time. Packing up her things, she got ready to head inside, darn Potions homework was none too easy.

Neoma had had enough of the indoors. Althought the majesty of Hogwarts castle was very pleasent, Neoma couldn't be inside for too long. She was in the Entrance Courtyard, sitting cross-legged on one of the stools. She had her noted and books in her lap and a quill in her hand. Homework seemed to follow her wherever she went, there simply was no place to hide.
Though sometimes she felt like she was the only one. She raised her head to look about her, as the Courtyard was dotted with students. Playing with marbles, from what she could tell, and cards. Some even had their wands out, practicing charms or defensive spells.
The world she saw before her, the world she had been immersed into, was less alien and strange to her than it had been at the beggining of the semester. Which was nearly a month ago now, if not more.
Her friends were few and far between, as she concentrated on working hard first and play later. The homework unfortunately, never failed to pile up as fast as she could get it finished. She had heard of a ball coming up soon, that was something to look forward to.
She was startled from her thoughts when someone approached her.
